Where do I begin to describe our 26th fantasy football draft. How far we’ve come. What started with 8 people hanging out in Meadowbrook at 1205 Glen Arbor Drive with Mr Jim’s yellow legal pad sheets of paper. Ms. Ginny serving up Mozzy sticks. Me picking Marvin Harrison. Life comes at you fast.
To present day. To breakfast at Mission. Excellent fresh fish at Nico’s. Sipping on cold Miller Lite’s while playing LCR And shooting the shit. To throwing the football on the beach. Rolling up to the Open Bar where Max and Mike beat Andy and I in pool and Max proceeded to order shots for the bar. To Josh and Andy bonding over a pack of Pall Malls (wink wink). And Andy fell in love with his Covington High paramour. Josh announced to us his expected son. Then some margs at Café Coyote. And of course draft day. From Max brilliantly asking the waiter to get some kid meal chicken tender and fries delivered to the table. To Caleb anaconda’ing mimosas over my right shoulder. Logan got his beloved trophy. We hoisted up the draft board on the left of the tv smaller side of the wall (probably had more room on the right) and we got it going.
But after the bubbles were all popped. And the doo doo shots were a distant memory or absence of one. We wind up with teams for this upcoming fantasy football season. Here’s how I think everyone did in this years draft:
- Stephen
Gibbs was the pick. I joked on a dynasty podcast that Gibbs will get 3000 all-purpose yards now that Monty is a Texan. Last year Andy and I had an epic late season matchup where Gibbs got 55 fantasy points and I lost by 1. Forcing me to miss the playoffs. He is the best running back in the NFL. If he stays healthy he could be the best ever.
In Round 2 and 3 turn Stephen went Drake London and Malik Nabers. I liked AJ Brown and Olave more than Nabers. Drake London I’m not sure about, only because his QB will be Tua or Penix. Both struggled last season. To the point where Tua got benched by Mike McDaniels. And Penix’s old knee injuries resurfaced to end his season early. London should be the most targeted player on the Falcons. He is a Top 10 WR talent in the NFL. New head coach in Kevin Stefanski. He didn’t have Drake London in Cleveland. So it should be interesting to see what he does with a true alpha. As long as Tua can regain his reputation for accuracy or Penix can stay healthy, should be fine. Nabers the concern is longevity. Can he stay healthy after that brutal knee injury? Reports are saying he could play Week 1. If he’s able to regain his form Dart should be an upgrade for him.
In Round 4 and 5 Stephen took Lamar Jackson and Colston Loveland. If he hadn’t taken Lamar I was going to. But in retrospect he probably should’ve snagged a Swift, Judkins, or Monty here to secure his RB2. But Lamar gives him a MVP QB who can put up a ton of stats. The question marks are the offensive line, new head coach, and loss of key contributors like Charlie Kolar, Keaton Mitchell, Isaiah Likely and DeAndre Hopkins. Insert rookies Elijah Sarratt and Jacobi Lane. They’ve showed potential, we’ll see what this new Ravens regime looks like this season. Loveland is all the best ball bros darling for this upcoming season. Everyone is pegging him for a Top 3 tight end. The hype is heightened due to the groin injury Luther Burden suffered a couple weeks ago. We’ll wait to see if the carpet matches the drapes.
In Round 6 and 7 Stephen took Davante Adams and Christian Watson. I wanted Adams but took Burden because I felt obligated to chase some upside. Adams had his lowest number of yards and receptions in 11 years, but he made up for it with 14 tuddy’s. He served as the goal line back. They would get to the one and throw him a slant for a touchdown. Every time. Defenses couldn’t stop it. Not sure if we can expect the same. Maybe they mix it up and let Kyren rush a couple in. But we’ll see. Solid WR3/Flex. Watson is a high upside pick. When healthy he can ball out. Romeo Doubs is a Patriot. Dontavion Wicks is an Eagle. His target competition is Tucker Kraft, Matthew Golden, and Jayden Reed (who Stephen also took in Round 11).
In later rounds Stephen got good value with Rhamondre Stevenson. Decent handcuff/timeshare RBs in Dowdle, Hubbard, and Rodriguez.
Draft Grade: B. Gibbs will carry the team regardless of supporting cast. RB2 is pretty glaring. As is WR depth due to the injury/age of Nabers, Adams, and Watson. He’ll compete.
2. Michael (via Andy)
Michael and his shenanigans. Trades up to take Bijan Robinson. I think the primary motivation was he didn’t want to change his team name from Baby LT. Bijan is a stud. He’s been fantasy RB#9, #4, and #3 in his first three seasons in the league. He just got paid like it. We’ll see if the Falcons can get rolling with new head coach and Tua at QB. In the 2nd round he got Saquon Barkley. Barkley came back down to Earth last year after his RB1 finish in 2024. Last year Eagles were in a bit of a funk and had offensive line issues. AJ Brown is gone, but I don’t think that helps the run game. He was a threat that defenses had to account for him and was a decent run blocker. (granted last year he wasn’t as good as previous years). Also all I’ve heard all offseason is how good Tank Bigsby is. Will we get RB#14 Saquon from 2025 or RB#1 Saquon from 2024? Probably somewhere in between is my guess.
In the 3rd Mike moved back six picks but still landed his WR1 in Chris Olave. Jordan Tyson is already beat up a bit. Olave was WR#6 last year. Insert the offseason hype of the Saints. I don’t see why he won’t repeat what he did last year.
In Round 4 Mike goes Ladd McConkey. Everybody talks about Brian Thomas Jr’s horrific sophomore slump but no one mentions Ladd’s. He went from WR#12 his rookie year to WR#29. Granted the Chargers offensive line was all hurt. This year they get Mike McDaniels as OC. Ladd should be unleashed. Another person who I think lands in the middle of those two outcomes (between WR#12 and WR#29).
In Round 5 Mike took Jaylen Waddle. The hype on him from best ball bros, establish the run, and other nerds is through the roof. It may be warranted. His skill set matches perfectly with Bo Nix and Sean Payton’s creativity. Plus Courtland Sutton/Pat Bryant are true X’s. Waddle can be the Y or Z he is more suited in being. With Tyreek he was forced to play more X in Miami. I won’t be surprised to see Waddle finish as a WR1 and the top pass catcher on the Broncos when it’s all said and done. As long as he can stay healthy of course.
Mike then did not have a 6th round pick due to the Bijan trade, so he took Jalen Hurts in the 7th. Hurts is a conservative QB. If he has a low probability of completing a long throw he’ll check down to his RB or TE more often than not. This is what drove AJ Brown nuts. AJB would be open enough (in his mind), Hurts wouldn’t risk the throw because he’d rather avoid the INT then make the big chunk play. But he still finished as QB#8 last year due to his 8 rushing touchdowns. His main weapons will be Devonta Smith, Dallas Goedert, and Dontayvion Wicks. They also added veteran Hollywood Brown and rookies Makai Lemon and Eli Stowers. Last year their offensive line was banged up most of the season and it really impacted them. The line is talented (Brandon Thorn ranks them #2 overall) but they are older and have more wear and tear. If they can hold up and the new comers can replace AJ Brown he should be just fine.
Mike got great value in Johnathan Brooks in Round 8 as his flex/RB3 and Kyle Pitts in Round 9. He got great value in Josh Downs and De’Zhaun Stribling while I didn’t care for the Jordan Mason pick. He wasn’t on my radar as he doesn’t get any receiving work and Aaron Jones is back healthy.
Draft Grade: B+. I like the trio of Olave/McConkey/Waddle behind stud RBs Bijan and Barkley. Team has no weakness and the trade looks like it paid off.
3. Brad
Brad was debating Puca or Chase then Adam Schefter broke the story that Puca could be suspended and then Puca left practice early. Could all be nothing, but Chase is right up there so why stress about it when one has a couple red flags and the other doesn’t. Chase wants 1000 yards and 23 touchdowns this season and his BFF Burrow could help him achieve it. Can’t believe this idiot passed on Puca two years in a row.
In Round 2 Brad took Brock Bowers. This is a HIGH T, no risk it, no biscuit pick. I was debating between Barkley or Bowers. The risk was that Stephen or Mike would take Barkley and Henry and leave me with no RB. They had my fate in their hands and they didn’t go for the jugular like Logan did last season. Their kindness and empathy might help those less fortunate than ourselves in the real world, but in fantasy football it’s a weakness that I exploited for my own personal gain. I will destroy the Kellys this season for them letting me get the King in Round 3. Muahahahahahah. Jk jk but Henry RB#8 or better the past four years and has 10+ touchdowns every year the past 8 seasons. Last year at age 31 he rushed for 1595 yards and 16 touchdowns. Concern is the Center and best blocking tight ends are all gone. So this could be a disaster.
In Round 4 Brad took Zay Flowers. Flowers was WR#7 last year. They lost tight ends but added wide receivers. Zay should be the main target earner again this year. If Lamar can play better and the defense improve with Minters as HC then we’ll see what happens.
In Round 5 Brad reached for David Montgomery. During the draft I admitted this was a gut decision, not an analysis decision. Monty wasn’t needed in Detroit because Gibbs is entering God status. But Monty is still a very good RB. In his 3 seasons with Detroit he rushed for 33 touchdowns. Insert the Texans who are known for their nasty defense and below average offense. Last year they rolled out the ghost of Nick Chubb and rookie Woody Marks. Monty is healthier than Chubb. Marks poses a threat to 3rd downs and 2 minute drills but he also spends a lot of time in the blue tent and he might be addicted to pain killers. If that’s true I hope he gets the help he needs. In rehab. Away from the team. Monty Top 10 RB this season.
Brad then took Burden over Adams. Jayden Daniels in Round 7. Then he peppered RB depth like his life depended on it. Jaylen Warren, Kenneth Gainwell, Blake Corum, Tank Bigsby. If it wasn’t obvious that Logan broke Brad last year then this draft was all the evidence one would need.
Draft Grade: C+. RB depth is a strength. Weak at flex and WR depth to start the season.
4. Caleb
Caleb drafted as if there was no negative news at all this preseason. Just ignore everything and draft on talent. Love it. Puca Nacua is yet again drafted one pick after me. Last year Puca finished WR#1. Meanwhile I had taken JJ who finished WR#25. Puca might be suspended for allegedly biting a woman and using antisemitic phrases. He also has a little groin injury he’s dealing with. If he isn’t suspended he could very easily be WR#1 again. The Rams are legit. In the 2nd he went Omarion Hampton. Talented sophomore. Last year was a mess for the Chargers due to offensive line injuries. This year so far so good. Insert Mike McDaniels. I do believe Hampton will be the bell cow. But Keaton Mitchell is a perfect fit for McDaniels. Think Raheem Mostert from yesteryear. Mitchell’s 8-10 touches for 70 yards and a touchdown are going to be really annoying for Hampton owners who have 16-18 touches and 50 yards.
In Round 3 Caleb took Josh Allen. His fantasy QB finishes over the past 6 seasons? 1, 1, 2, 1, 2, 1. Pretty ridiculous.
In Round 4 he took Emeka Egbuka. Unfortunately Egbuka hurt his toe. Although they haven’t used the term “turf toe” that is the concern. Because what turf toe actually is… is a completely painful foot issue that is a bitch to recover from. Let’s hope he is ready by Week 1.
In Round 5 Caleb took Tet McMillan. I don’t like him, but he’s really good. Panthers are crowded Receiver wise and recently signed Darren Waller. Waller is a red zone menace and I worry that takes TD potential away from Tet. Plus Bryce Young has his college buddy John Metchie there and fantasy football twitter’s hero Jalen Coker is the power slot. Losing Chris Brazzell for the season helped, but I’d still expect a WR3/WR2 type season depending on TD quantity.
In Round 6 Caleb took Bucky Irving. Very talented, but had that weird shoulder issue last season. Then they bring in Kenny Gainwell who balled out for the Steelers last season. Irving will split with Gainwell and Gainwell might actually be better.
In Round 7 Caleb took TreyVeon Henderson, explosive back for the Pats. Tony Pollard was boring in Round 8 but a solid RB#2. Alec Pierce is injured, so might be a slow start for him.
Good value picks in Monangai, Addison and Jake Ferguson late.
Draft Grade: B. Puka, Egbuka, and Pierce might not be available Week 1. So he might have to roll out Tet McMillan and Jordan Addison as his Week 1 starting WRs. His RB2 is a concern. Mainly because it’s going to be hard to pick the right one. Unless a co-starter gets injured or something of course. Fun team, but lots of assumed risk.
5. Josh
Josh starts with JSN, the man that exploded last year to a WR#2 finish. He then followed it up with Nico Collins in the 2nd. Nico is a stud when he’s on the field, but he does miss chunks of time for various ailments. But when healthy he’s more of a Round 1 talent at WR than a Round 2 talent. In Round 3 Josh and Logan traded. In retrospect Josh traded AJ Brown, Devonta Smith, and Zach Charbonnet for Josh Jacobs, Kyren Williams, and Rashid Shaheed. Which is terrible. But that’s not how it went down. Josh traded back to move up next round to help with RB after starting the draft WR-WR. Insert Round 3 Josh Jacobs.
Jacobs was arrested in May and booked for several charges including battery, criminal damage to property, disorderly conduct, strangulation and suffocation, and intimidation of a victim. The DA investigation is still open with no formal charges filed. NFL is reviewing the matter, but typically they wait for the legal apparatus to run its course. Despite all that, the 28 year old RB does have a lot of wear and tear at this stage of his career. He’s great at scoring TDs (28 rushing TDs in the last two seasons), but his efficiency was down last year (-.45 yards per carry difference). Plus Chat GPT really hated this pick.
In Round 4 Josh took Kyren Williams. This was a great value pick. Kyren’s finishes the past three seasons have been 6, 7, and 9. Blake Corum cleaned up a lot in garbage time last season, but Kyren was still the head honcho. Add Myles Garrett and potentially Aaron Donald to the Rams defense and Kyren and Corum could be rushing the entire second halves of games all season.
In Round 5 Josh continued to build up the RB room with Cam Scattebo. This crayon eating monster. Not the smartest, but he tries. Whole new regime in New York and coming off of that gruesome ankle injury last season.
In Round 6 Josh took Tucker Kraft. Another player coming off of a big injury, but was dominant prior to getting hurt. Josh also took Matthew Golden and Marshawn Lloyd going really Packer heavy.
But late round picks of Bo Nix and Juwan Johnson were great.
Draft Grade: B+. I hated some of the picks like Dak in an even year and DJ Giddens who seems to have lost the backup role to JT to a rookie. But starters of Dak, Jacobs, Kyren, JSN, Nico Collins, Tucker Kraft with depth of Odunze, Scattebo, Higgins, Bo Nix, and Juwan Johnson. The team is solid. As much as it pains me to say it.
6. Quentin
Quentin took CMC. RB#1 last season. He refused to get off the field last year. Right now he’s missed some practices with “tightness” but it doesn’t seem like it’s the same thing as a couple years ago when he was actually dead and had to go to Europe and have a clone made of him. That was the one season Andy got CMC and he killed him.
In Round 2 Quentin took my pick for RB#1 this season Kenneth Walker. I wanted him badly but didn’t think he’d fall to me. Chiefs invested heavily in the Super Bowl MVP and will ride him hard this season.
In Round 3 Quentin went Breece Hall. I mean I get it. RB depth is important especially with two backs that have had big injuries in the past. But Hall has been a RB2 the past two seasons. Geno Smith might elevate the play some or he could repeat like last year spelling doom for the Jets. I think Chris Olave would’ve been a better pick here.
In Round 4 Q took Rashee Rice. Rice is talented enough to be a WR1 but he’s played in 12 games the past two seasons. Missed time due to injury or suspension from a car crash that resulted in six vehicles crashing and multiple people injured. This occurred in Dallas area where Rice is from (he attended SMU). In addition he hasn’t looked great this offseason. After serving time in jail some of his muscles might’ve atrophied. I liked the next group of WRs better than him. Smith, Egbuka, Zay, Ladd, and Waddle.
Quentin got excellent value in Tee Higgins in the 5th. Higgins has 4 WR2 finishes in the past 5 seasons and almost none of them he played in every game. Meaning his Points Per Game were closer to WR1 status than WR2 status. Play him when he’s healthy and you have a WR1. Boom.
Q partnered Tee with Joe Burrow in the next round. Got tremendous value in Mike Evans in Round 7. Loved his picks of Dobbins and Concepcion. When Dobbins is healthy Payton trusts him more than Harvey. Concepcion is a little demon and a dark horse for offensive rookie of the year. At +4000 with some sports books it may not be a bad way to spend $5.
Hated his TE room. Kelce and Andrews are washed. Done. Dead. You’ll see.
Draft Grades: C+. Every single player on his roster has injury concerns.

I know AI is advancing medical science and technology at a rapid rate, but jeesh man. Good luck fumbling through this hospital wing of a lineup every week. I would’ve given a higher grade if we had more than 2 IR spots.
7. Logan
Dr. Champion. Champion Doctor. Logan Champion, MD. Whatever you want to call him. Logan gets Johnathan Taylor to start. JT is a beast and was crushing everyone the first 10 weeks of the season last year. During that stretch he averaged 25.9 fantasy points per game. The schedule after the bye week got worse for the Colts, but Daniel Jones also went down in Week 14, which means teams could focus on stuffing the box after that. Post-bye week JT averaged 12.6 fantasy points per game. If JT can recreate the Weeks 1-10 mojo then Logan will make out like a bandit with the 7th pick.
Logan follows it up with Chase Brown in the 2nd. I know he regretted that trade last season, but taking Brown over Walker was egregious in my opinion. I love Brown. I have him in my PPR dynasty league. Monster. But Kenneth Walker was the pick in Round 2. That being said Chase Brown RB#12 and RB#8 the past two seasons. He scores touchdowns, gets a lot of check down catches from Burrow. And he’s fun. He’s Kyren Williams without the PR.
In Round 3 he moved up to snag AJ Brown (also on my dynasty roster). AJB is still an elite WR in the NFL. Eagles are going to feel his absence. The Patriots are going to feel his presence. According to Michael Kelly some analysts he follows thinks AJ Brown can lead the NFL in receiving touchdowns this season. I’m bullish as well, but maybe not this bullish.
In Round 4 he got tremendous value in Devonta Smith, the Eagles new #1 WR now that AJB is a Patriot. Smith is going to try and do his best JSN impression. Eagles believe in him. In games AJB has missed Smith has stepped up and put up WR1 numbers. People forget Devonta Smith won the Heisman trophy in 2020, the first WR to win since Desmond Howard in 1991. He’s elite and Logan might’ve gotten this year’s JSN.
In Round 5 I was debating between Swift and Monty and went Monty. Swift falls to Logan. Swift is a RB2 every season of his career so far. Underrated in my opinion and should’ve gone sooner than this. He fits well with Ben Johnson and I he’s a plug and play RB. You know what you’re going to get and some weeks he’ll do more than that. Just have to worry about Monangai ascending and taking more work.
Tyler Warren in Round 6 is another great value. Colts are going to run their offense through JT and Tyler Warren. Losing Michael Pittman condenses the receivers to Josh Downs and Alec Pierce. Rumors have put Keenan Allen as a potential signing, so that would hurt Downs and Warren the most if that happens.
Update: it happened.
Logan got Carnell Tate next. Caleb Williams at QB. Some dusty vets in Godwin and Pittman in the mid rounds. And got decent depth RBs in Zach Charbonnet and Dylan Sampson.
Draft Grade: A. His team doesn’t have a weakness. Maybe QB and TE depth? Which in a 10 man league doesn’t really exist.
8. Andy
Andy started the draft with two other A first names in Amon-Ra St. Brown and Ashton Jeanty. Andy, Amon-Ra, Ashton, you get it? “A” first names?
Amon Ra has finished as WR#3 three years in a row. Before that he was WR#8. Ridiculous consistency. You can bank on 116 catches 1300 yards and 11 touchdowns. Stud.
Jeanty struggled last year, but the Raiders were terrible. This offseason they’ve brought in Fernando Mendoza, Free Agent Tyler Linderbaum at center, and new head coach Klint Kubiak. Kubiak did a great job with the Saints as OC until the entire team got injured and the season died. Then he went to Seattle and helped Darnold and JSN dominate the league on their way to a Super Bowl title. This is a new team. Also, as Michael mentioned during draft weekend Jeanty cut out all gluten and sugar this offseason. Hopefully he performs well this season.
In Round 3 Andy got Trey McBride. McBride was TE#1 last year. Year before he was TE#3 but had some positive TD regression last year going from 2 in 2024 to 11 in 2025. I don’t know if he can keep on that same TD pace from last year. Cardinals have the hardest schedule in the NFL this year. Which means they’ll probably be throwing a lot at the end of games, but not winning much. Beck might get a long look if they can’t win any games. Not sure how that would impact McBride.
Andy got George Pickens in the 4th. Pickens is a freak and could easily be a WR1 on half the NFL rosters. Last year he was half ppr WR#5 on the season. CeeDee missed a chunk of games which helped Pickens. But Andy gets two Top 5 WRs from a year ago to pair with TE#1 and Jeanty/Judkins at RB.
I loved the value of Quinshon Judkins in round 5 for Andy’s RB2. He looked great to begin the year last year before being injured and missing the last couple games in 2025. Browns added a pair of rookie studs at WR. Also they no longer have Myles Garrett, so they might have to throw more. Dylan Sampson is also pretty good, so Andy is hoping Judkins can recover from that injury and get to the level he was playing at last season.
In Round 6 Andy had two picks due to the Bijan trade. With his pick he went conservative veteran in Terry McLaurin. Can’t be much worse than last year. McLaurin missed most of the season. Jayden missed most of the season. It was gross. They brought in Stefon Diggs, but that might help McLaurin. Reduces any chance of him being doubled. With Michael’s pick he took Jadarian Price, rookie for Seattle. Price looked great with limited touches at Notre Dame. But he had limited touches due to being teammates with Jeremiyah Love. Insert the Super Bowl Champions minus Kenneth Walker and with Zach Charbonnet recovering from a late season injury.
In Round 7 Andy took young stud Jordan Tyson. I’m very bullish on Tyson in his career. He has that twitch that reminds me of Jamarr Chase. Unguardable. The concern is health concerns. He has a Christian Watson like vibe when it comes to injuries. Let’s hope he can stay healthy.
In Round 8 Andy took Rachaad White as his RB4. I liked this pick. White is my most owned Best Ball RB from the Commanders. He has the best chance of getting PPR receiving work. Bill should get first crack at early downs, but look out for rookies Katron Allen and Robert Henry. Sleepers in my opinion. White is who I felt most confident about.
In Round 9 Andy went Jaxson Dart. Fun QB, but injury prone.
Later Rounds Andy went Woody Marks, Makai Lemon, Tyler Shough, and got Jeanty’s handcuff in Mike Washington.
Draft Grade: B. His core lineup of Jeanty/Judkins/Amon-ra/Pickens/McLaurin/McBride is sick. Depth isn’t bad. Just a solid around team.
9. Max
Doo Doo Shots! Max was cooking during this draft. He went RB HEAVY in his first five picks. Let’s see if it pays off. He takes James Cook in the 1st. He’s finished as RB#11, 8, and 6 the past three seasons. Last offseason he was holding out. But he got his contract and smashed. He’s a baller and this is a great pick.
In Round 2 Max took CeeDee Lamb. Lamb had that amazing 2023 season where he finished as WR#1 in fantasy. Then he followed it up with WR#8 in 2024 and WR#20 last season. He’s missed a 2-3 games in back to back seasons due to shoulder issues. Let’s hope he’s able to get it corrected. Have to worry about George Pickens eating a lot of work, but Dallas throws enough to feed both. Next worry is Dak Prescott. Even years he’s been hurt and/or struggled mightily. Let’s see if he can buck the trend this year.
In Round 3 Max took Jeremiyah Love. This is good value. He is a special talent but enters the NFL on a bad team with a bunch of running backs. Tyler Algeier was holding Bijan back, now he will do the same for Love. He’ll be fun, but reduce expectations a bit. More RB3/RB2.
In Round 4 Max took Travis Etienne pronounced A-CHANE which is stupid. Should get fed a lot. Saints need him. He’s coming off a great season in Jacksonville where he finished as RB#10.
In Round 5 Max took his replacement in Jacksonville with Bhayshul Tuten. Boot scootin‘ Tuten. Last year was weird. Etienne was the main guy and Tuten would come in as the power back/goal line back. When his skill set is more explosive and fast runner. I like this set up better this year with C-Rodriguez being the bruiser and Tuten getting the early down work. There’s no reason to not hope for a similar finish to Etienne last season. One concern is he had some fumbling issues in college. If those rear their ugly head I could see Coen rolling with C-Rod and Allen as a thunder and lightning combo.
In Round 6 Max got his 2nd WR in DJ Moore, now a Buffalo Bill. DJ Moore has finished as a WR2 6 seasons. He’s had 1 WR1 finish and 1 WR3 finish. Should be solid because Josh Allen doesn’t have much else in that WR room.
In Round 7 Courtland Sutton. This was a tough pick for me. Two things can be true at once. Sutton was WR#11 last year and WR#13 the year before. Sutton will not be that good this season. Camp beat writers have repeatedly been hyping up Pat Bryant. To the point where I think it’s difficult to ignore. Bryant is an X style receiver like Sutton. They also traded a 1st round pick for Jaylen Waddle. Waddle becomes the Z/Y receiver that Payton can move around the formation. This is a year I would have avoided Sutton and I don’t think you’ll use him much.
In Round 8 you took Parker Washington. The de facto WR#1 for the Jaguars. I have a dynasty team with Brian Thomas, Brenton Strange, and Travis Hunter, so I hate Parker Washington so damn much. Because he’s better. He’s an Amon-Ra style player. WR corps is stacked for JAcksonville. Even their 6th round rookie Josh Cameron is getting hyped up. This leads me to believe BTJ, Hunter, and Meyers will be almost not startable in any redraft leagues unless an injury occurs. As a BTJ dynasty manager I hope they trade him. If they need a deep threat they can always throw in Hunter while Washington/Meyers eat in the middle.
Great value with Matt Stafford in Round 9 and Harold Fannin in Round 10. Fannin is my most owned TE in best ball. Didn’t particularly care for most of the later picks you made, but you were prioritizing getting your own starters handcuffs, which I get.
Draft Grade: B+. Starting lineup should be Stafford, Cook, Etienne, Lamb, DJ Moore, Parker Washington, and Fannin to start the season. Then you can watch to see if Love and Tuten work out to mis into the flex. Sutton pick knocked you down a peg.
10. Ben
I know we like to joke around a lot Ben, but we truly missed you at the draft. We are completely supportive of you and your work responsibilities. You are being a good leader and owner and I want you to know I respect you as person. Your draft I do not respect however, you were the only one not to be at the bar when Max was buying the bar Doo Doo shots, but your draft was more Doo Doo than the rest of ours. Let’s dive in.
Round 1 you took De’Von Achane. The Dolphins have no WRs and a running QB. Instead of checking down 200 times like Tua, he can just take off running. The defensive gameplan for opposing teams will be contain Achane and don’t let Malik Willis escape the pocket, make Tutu Atwell or Caleb Douglas beat them. I had Kenneth Walker, Chase Brown, Ashton Jeanty, Saquon Barkley, Derrick Henry and Omarion Hampton all ranked higher than Achane.
In Round 2 you took Justin Jefferson. Love me some JJ. We know the deal here. If he has just average QB play he’s a WR1 in fantasy. If it’s below average he’s susceptible to underperformance. We’ve seen that now. Let’s hope Kyler can turn things around for him. The potential is there.
In Round 3 you took Garrett Wilson. Another player whose talent is better than results due to underperforming QB play. Let’s see if Geno Smith or perhaps Clemson rookie Cade Klubnik can provide a spark to the Jets offense. Additions of Omar Cooper and Kenyon Sadiq should help take some pressure off at least.
In Round 4 you took Javonte Williams. I was wrong last year. Javonte was coming off of a terrible knee injury. He just needed more time. He put in the work and then became a stud for Dallas last year. 13 total touchdowns and a RB#11 finish gives you a solid RB2.
In Round 5 you took Jameson Williams. Love this pick for an explosive, wildcard flex player. JJ and Wilson will be steady eddy’s and Jameson will get you 3 or 30.
Loved the Drake Maye pick in Round 6. Maye is like the new Josh Allen. He might have a Super Bowl hangover, but nothing a little hair of the AJ Brown dog can’t handle.
In Round 7 you took Brian Thomas. Love the player, hate the situation and pick. Unless Parker Washington is removed BTJ will most likely not be playable in redraft. Better best ball player because they’ll probably be a couple weeks where he blows the top off and catches some long touchdowns.
In Round 8 you took Sam LaPorta. I love the talent, but hate the injury history. He had to have back surgery last year. I liked Harold Fannin better and he went two rounds later.
In Round 9 you took RJ Harvey. He’d be a higher pick if they didn’t draft Jonah Coleman and resign JK Dobbins.
Liked Michael Wilson in Round 11 and Kyler Murray in Round 12.
Draft Grade: D+. 10th spot had so much potential. You team could’ve been a lot better and if I was in the 10 spot my team would look extremely different from yours. Almost every pick.
