Week 4 Recap:

Brad (3-1) 120.6 vs. Mike (1-3) 115.8

Mike put up his most points scored in a single game this season but fell just short to Brad by less than 5 points.  Worse than the loss of the weekly fantasy matchup was the loss of his second-round pick Javonte Williams for the season.  Mike got 35.0 points from Josh Jacobs and 26.9 from Tee Higgins.  These two combined for over half of Mike’s total point output.  Brad had a more evened effort from his team with his top scorer getting 22.7 (Nick Chubb) and 5 players getting 11+.

Tommy (3-1) 136.6 vs. Katon (0-4) 59.6

Katon started Kamara again.  This time it was the London game, so there is a little bit of an excuse.  But it doesn’t look like it would’ve mattered even if he did make a switch.  Tommy had 4 players score over 20 points including Burrow (20), Henry (25.2), Tyreek Hill (23.9), and DK Metcalf (21.4).  Any combination of 3 of those players would have been enough to beat Katon this week.  Tommy didn’t need the other 6.  Katon’s top scorer was his kicker with 17.0 points.  No one else scored in double digits.

Chase (2-2) 121.5 vs. Jen (1-3) 78.8

Things were looking good for Jen after the London game was over.  She was up on Chase by 21.3 points after getting 29.0 points from her first-round pick Justin Jefferson and 14.7 from Saints phenom rookie Chris Olave.  Chase had 22.4 combined from Kirk Cousins and Dalvin Cook.  But after the noon games kicked off it was all Chase the rest of the day.  He got 20.3 from JK Dobbins, 19 from Philly D/ST, 17.6 from Josh Reynolds, and 19.7 from Travis Kelce on SNF.  Jen had no other player score in double digits including 5 players score less than 5 points.

Joe (2-2) 110.3 vs. Mustafa (4-0) 146.2

Moose continues his ridiculous start to the season with another dominating win, this time over Joe.  Joe scored a respectable 110.3 after getting 26.9 from Russel Wilson, 21.9 from CEH, and 22 from SF D/ST on MNF.  Moose ended this game when Dameon Pierce ripped off a 75 yard touchdown run.  He had 4 players score over 20 and even got 34.7 from his peripherals.  Joe just didn’t have the firepower to hang with Moose this week.

Trey (0-4) 80.6 vs. Kenny (3-1) 115.0

Kenny had a pretty solid week from his players.  Most of them scored in double digits.  He had 6/9 score between 11.0 and 22.8 for a really even effort from his players.  Trey was carried by Miles Sanders who had 27 carries for 134 yards and 2 rushing touchdowns for a total of 31.6 against the Jaguars.  Unfortunately for Trey Lamar Jackson came back down to Earth for only 12.9 and he lost Johnathan Taylor to a high ankle sprain.  Normally you would never trade your studs, but at 0-4 and the prospect of JT missing a few weeks, Trey’s last chance might be to trade JT to a deep team for 3 starters.  We’ll see if he makes a move or takes JT with him to his grave.

JD (3-1) 114.7 vs. Scotty (2-2) 190.6

Controversy.  Betrayal.  Shame.  Impeachment.  There I was.  Commissioner of the Best Buy Dream Team League.  Drafting our 14^th season.  All of a sudden.  A text!  It’s Scotty saying he can’t draft right now.  That he would need to autodraft.  I told him he had already autodrafted Deebo Samuel.  He said, “No.”  Then “Im at a multi million dollar business deal in Kansas City lol.  We are at dinner now.” And then   “I want Rb.”  Unfortunately, we were 4-5 picks away at that point.  And I couldn’t undo all those picks.  I had to tell him he was on autodraft.  Autodraft he did.  Until.  ESPN autodrafted his 3^rd Qb before his 3^rd Rb.  I drew the line.  I stepped in.  I interfered.  I undid the Qb pick and picked up the next Rb that was available for Scotty.  That Rb.  Was Jamaal Williams.  The same Jamaal Williams that has scored 6 touchdowns, is currently Fantasy Rb #3 and just put up 28.4 against JD.  Then after that ESPN still wind up drafting a third Qb for Scotty and I missed it.  Distracted by trying to fill out my own roster and pick my own late round fliers.  Luckily for me this week even if Jamaal Williams would have gotten 0 Scotty would have still kicked JD’s ass.  Scotty got 24.1 from Justin Herbert, 25.7 from Deebo Samuel, 29.3 from Mike Evans, and 38.9 from TJ “MFing” Hockensen.  JD finally had Austin Ekeler pop off for 31.9 and got his usual 23.2 from Patrick Mahomes.  But it wasn’t enough to keep up with the Scotty this week.   I look forward to the impeachment hearings to follow this admission.

Week 5 Preview:

Before we dive into the individual matchups I wanted to stop and point out how insane Moose’s team has been through 4 weeks.  He has put up 600.8 points in 4 weeks.  Averaging 150.2.  AVERAGING 150+.  His low was Week 2 with 134.6.  For perspective, two other players have scored in the 500s (Brad at 560.4 and Scotty at 514.5), six other players have scored in the 400s and four teams have scored in the 300s.  Katon is at 338.5 points scored, a whopping 262.5 points less than league-leading Mustafa.

RIVALRY GAME ALERT

JD (3-1) vs. Tommy (3-1)  

Division 1 Leader Tommy vs. Division 2 Leader JD.  Post season preview?  JD was undefeated in divisional play but as soon as he left his division, he got smoked by Scotty’s 190+ point explosion.   Tommy is riding a 3 game winning streak including two games of scoring over 130 during that span.  Despite their even record Tommy has scored 44.5 points more than JD so far and has 108.1 less points scored against him.  Let’s break it down.  JD will have #4 Qb Patrick Mahomes against the Raiders on Monday Night Football.  Tommy will have #8 Qb Joe Burrow against the Ravens on Sunday Night Football.  Two Gunslingers on primetime games going up against each other.  Love to see it.  JD has #7 Rb Austin Ekeler, reminder he drafted at Ekeler at 3 overall over Cooper Kupp, against Cleveland.  Tommy has #6 Rb Derrick Henry, reminder he drafted Henry at 5 overall over Cooper Kupp, against Washington.  JD has #12 Rb James Robinson against Houston and Tommy has #15 Rb Leonard Fournette against Atlanta.  JD has #16 WR CeeDee Lamb going up against Jalen Ramsey and the Rams while Tommy has #3 WR Tyreek Hill against the Jets.  Tyreek was quoted this week saying he is a Dolphin and not a Jet because of income taxes.  Tommy’s kind of player.  This matchup could very well come down to Flex decisions.  So whatever you guys do, don’t mess that up or second guess yourselves or anything like that.  Great matchup this week.

Moose (4-0) vs. Kenny (3-1)

Kenny rides his 3 game winning streak into a wall this week.  This is like a guy on a paddle board who is making good time and then looks up and see a Tsunami about to slam into him.  That is what has been like facing Moose so far this season.  Moose has #2 Qb Josh Allen against a decent defense in Pittsburgh, #2 Rb Saquon Barkley @ Green Bay in London, #14 Rb Damon Pierce @ Jacksonville who just got wrecked by Miles Sanders last week, #10 WR AJ Brown against Arizona, #1 WR Cooper Kupp against it doesn’t fucking matter, and #21 Wr Curtis Samuel against Tennessee.  Kenny has #7 Qb Kyler Murray against Philly who shut down Trevor Lawrence last week, Devin Singletary against Pittsburgh, Jeff Wilson Jr. @ Carolina, #6 WR Davonte Adams @ KC on MNF, #17 WR Mike Williams @ Cleveland, and we’ll see who Kenny decides to play in the flex at a later time.  He’ll be deciding between #17 Rb Damien Harris against Detroit or #19 Wr Amari Cooper versus the LA Chargers.  Of course both of those are assuming that D’Andre Swift is a no-go this week against New England.  Can Kenny hang with Moose this week?  Can anyone?

Jen (1-3) vs. Brad (3-1)

Jen and Brad square off in Week 5 heading in two different directions. Jen has lost 3 in a row after starting 1-0 and Brad has won 3 in a row after starting 0-1.  Jen will be lead by #4 Fantasy WR Justin Jefferson against Chicago and #15 WR Chris Olave against Seattle.  She is hoping to get more out of Rb James Conner who faces Philly and Antonio Gibson who faces Tennessee.  Brian Robinson will be practicing this week and might play in that matchup a mere four weeks after being shot.  We’ll have to see if Robinson cuts into Gibson’s touches moving forward.  Brad will be leaning on #1 RB  Nick Chubb vs. an LA Chargers team who just gave up 27.9 to Dameon Pierce in Week 4.  Of course, most of Pierce’s points came from the 75 yard touchdown run (18.5), which gave him the big play bonus and over 100 yard bonus.  This game will kick off on Thursday Night Football with Jen having #12 Den D/ST in a juicy matchup against an inept Colts team and Brad will have #13 WR Courtland Sutton who might be matched up one on one with Stephon Gilmore.  Brad’s #5 Rb Christian McCaffrey has a tough matchup against San Fran.  Both Tight Ends will be key to this matchup.  Jen’s #12 TE Darren Waller faces KC.  In Darren Waller’s last healthy season 2020, he put up a touchdown in both contests against KC.  Brad’s #11 TE David Njoku faces off against the LA Chargers.  Apparently Njoku always plays well against the Chargers with stat lines of 2021: 7 catches on 7 targets for 149 yards and a touchdown, 2018: 7 catches on 12 targets for 55 yards and a touchdown, 2017: 4 catches on 6 targets for 74 yards and a touchdown.  Will his streak of touchdowns against the Chargers continue this week?

Joe (2-2) vs. Trey (0-4)

The big story line is obviously Trey being without Johnathan Taylor the first overall pick in this year’s draft.  Trey will have to turn to #8 Rb Miles Sanders and Travis Etienne JR.  This matchup will have players featured in all of the primetime games this week.  Joe having #12 Qb Russell Wilson and Jerry Jeudy on TNF against the Colts, Trey having Allen Lazard on the early Sunday morning London game against the Giants, Joe having #14 Wr Ja’Marr Chase and #2 TE Mark Andrews battling it out on Sunday Night Football against Trey’s #1 Qb Lamar Jackson.  This game will most likely come down to Monday Night Football where Joe will have #4 Rb Clyde Edwards-Helaire against the Las Vegas Raiders.  CEH has only run the ball 41 times so far this season, but has scored 5 touchdowns through 4 games.  For perspective Trey’s JT had 81 rushes through 4 weeks before getting injured.  Joe also has Tony Pollard as his Rb2.  Pollard has rushed the ball 36 times so far this season.  Leave it to Joe to find Running Backs that don’t actually run.  Enjoy the primetime games gentlemen.

Mike (1-3) vs. Scotty (2-2)

If Scotty was in any other division he could easily be 3-1.   Both teams are coming in after scoring their highest point total of the season in Week 4.  Mike lost Javonte Williams for the season to a torn ACL and will look to replace him with a couple of wideouts that returned from injury last week in Tampa Bay WR Chris Godwin and Dallas WR Michael Gallup.  Godwin has a favorable matchup against Atlanta and Michael Gallup will travel to Los Angeles to go up against the Rams.    Mike’s 1^st pick Najee Harris is going to Buffalo and will have a rookie Qb under center.  That combined with the Steelers horrific offensive line can spell disaster (to Brad’s benefit with Bills D/ST).  #9 Josh Jacobs hopes to stay hot and earn a new contract in a big divisional game against the KC Chiefs.  The same Chiefs that just held Leonard Fournette to 3 rushes for -3 yards in Week 4.  (Fournette did have success catching the ball however, with 7 catches for 57 yards and a touchdown).  Mike will have #12 WR Tee Higgins on SNF against Scotty’s #19 Rb Joe Mixon. Scotty will also have #6 Qb Justin Herbert @ Cleveland who had given up big games to Baker Mayfield and Joe Flacco in Weeks 1 and 2 before shutting down Mitch Trubisky and Marcus Mariota in Weeks 3 and 4.  Herbert is better than all of those guys, so look for his normal production of 20+ with the potential for more.  Scotty will have #3 Rb Jamaal Williams…against a New England defense that hasn’t given up a rushing touchdown yet this year.  Scotty will also have his dynamic trio of wideouts in #11 Deebo Samuel @ Carolina, #18 Mike Evans vs. Atlanta, and #9 Marquise Brown against Philly.  Scotty looks heavily favored in this matchup.  Thanks Brad.

Chase (2-2) vs. Katon (0-4)

Chase gets his bye week this week, oh wait, that’s just Katon’s team, my bad.  Chase will have to wait and see if he gets his Sun God back this week in a big battle against New England.  Jared Goff is running point for Chase there and would love to have his top weapon back for that.  Chase has #24 Rb Dalvin Cook against a Chicago defense that got gashed by Aaron Jones in Week 2, Dameon Pierce in Week 3, and Saquon Barkley in Week 4.  Can Dalvin get things going?  Speaking of getting things going, JK Dobbins found the endzone twice against a tough Bills defense.  More importantly for Chase his touches increased from 9 in Week 3 to 17 in Week 4.  If that trend continues and he keeps finding the endzone then look out.  He has the Bengals this week on SNF.  Chase will have #1 Tight End Travis Kelce to fall back on if he needs it.   Kelce plays on MNF against the Raiders.  Katon is hoping to have Kamara against the Seattle Seahawks.  They gave up some big games this year including Jamaal Williams explosion last week.  Katon will have Matt Stafford against a decent Dallas defense.  And #2 Wr Stefon Diggs against Pittsburgh.  Katon usually drafts Kelce, so this could be a revenge game for Travis.  On the other side Chase is against Zeke.  I questioned Chase choosing JK Dobbins over Zeke during the draft, but this is why Chase has 3 titles and Brad only has 2 from a long ass time ago.  Zeke is averaging only 8.5 fantasy points per game through 4 weeks.  Can he pop off against Chase this week?  Sure, anything can happen.

Week 3 Recap:

Division 1:

Chase (1-2) 77.2 vs. Joe (2-1) 111.6

After Chase exploded in Week 1 for 142.9 points his point total has diminished to 92.3 in Week 2 and now 77.2 in Week 3.  To put Week 3 mildly, it was disastrous for Chase.  Kirk Cousins has yet to crack 20 fantasy points in a game.   Dalvin Cook had his best game of the season with 13.6 fantasy points, but he lost a fumble and injured his shoulder knocking him out of the game.  JK Dobbins returned to action, but as expected the Ravens eased him back in with 9 touches.  Amon-Ra St. Brown’s 8-reception and touchdown streaks were ended and he rolled his ankle.  Even Chase’s kicker and defense had terrible days combining for -2 points.  Joe on the other hand was carried by #1 Tight End Mark Andrews’ 24.9.  Mark Andrews finished as Tight End #1 last year and has started as Tight End #1 through 3 games this season.  It was fitting that he faced off against Chase’s Travis Kelce and performed better, almost as if to signify the changing of the guard.  Joe got a touchdown from Adam Thielen who had his best game of the year so far with 15.1.  And Tony Pollard looked like the much better running back on the Cowboys after rushing for 105 yards on only 13 carries on Monday Night Football.  Joe moves to 2-1 and leads D1 after 3 weeks.

Tommy (2-1) 105.9 vs. Mike (1-2) 75.3

Very similar score in the other Division 1 game.  Tommy was carried to victory by Joe Burrow’s 23 and Derrick Henry’s 22.8, which accounted for 52.7% of Tommy’s point output and 74.1% of Mike’s point total.  Mike has had a rough season to start.  Najee Harris is barely a top 20 running back, Javonte Williams isn’t a top 20 running back.  It’s just bad right now.  His top scorer this week was Josh Jacobs with 12.2.  This is usually where I try to give someone hope and explain to them that anything can happen in fantasy, but whew!  Looking back at the draft recap it just hurts.  Mike took Javonte Williams over Barkley and Mark Andrews.  He drafted Darnell Mooney over Amon-Ra St. Brown in Round 5.  Has not had his Rounds 6, 7, and 8 players due to injury.  Anything can happen, but Mike looks like he’ll be facing an uphill battle for the rest of the season.

Division 2:

Kenny (2-1) 100.3 vs. Jen (1-2) 72.3

Pretty low scoring affair in this game.  Kenny’s top scorer was Amari Cooper on Thursday Night Football, who had 7 catches for 101 yards and a touchdown for 22.6 fantasy points.  His wideouts all scored touchdowns despite Adams only having 36 receiving yards and Mike Williams only catching one pass.  Jen’s team had a rough day as Justin Jefferson had his second bad game in a row and 6 out of 9 players scored in single digits.  It was good to see Terry McLaurin have his best game of the season so far with 16.2 points.

JD (3-0) 119.9 vs. Katon (0-3) 75.0

JD remains unbeaten after taking out Katon in Week 3.  JD scored his highest game of the season so far with 119.9.  It was a complete team effort with 6 out of 9 players scoring in double digits.  His high scorer has been one of the awesome stories of the season so far in #3 Rb James Robinson.  He had a 100 yards rushing and a touchdown for 24.1 fantasy points.  Katon lost David Montgomery to injury this week.  He had 3 players combine for 4.6 points.  Qb and Rb have been a bit of a problem for Katon which has overshadowed his awesome starts to the season for #1 WR Stefon Diggs and #6 Wr Christian Kirk.

Division 3:

Mustafa (3-0) 143.3 vs. Scotty (1-2) 104.3

Moose burned through Division 3 like a Dragon from Game of Thrones.  Moose starts the year scorching hot with games of 176.7, 134.6, and 143.3 for a point leader total of 454.6 and an average of 151.5.  Scotty got caught up in his wake this week and didn’t stand a chance.  Herbert played through his rib cartilage injury but didn’t look crisp in a blowout loss to the Jaguars.  Joe Mixon underwhelmed against the Jets and tweaked his ankle.  DJ Moore looks pretty bad to start the season and only got Scotty 2 points.  It was good to see Marquise “Hollywood” Brown have his best game of the season with 14 catches for 140 yards.  On Moose’s side he had 7 out of 9 players score in double digits and 5 players score at least 17.  For perspective Scotty had 2 players score at least 17.  In fact, the rest of the league only had 13 players score over 17.  So Moose had 5/18 of the players that scored 17 or more this week on his roster.  Dominant.

Trey (0-3) 107.4 vs. Brad (2-1) 114.9

Trey and Brad traded shots all game and ultimately it came down to Robbie Gould vs. Courtland Sutton on Sunday Night Football.  Gould hit a 50+ yard field goal in the 4^th quarter, leading to Brad being up by 3.8.  A 40 yard field goal from Gould would have been enough to take the lead at that point.  But the fates were on Brad’s side as Sutton got a couple more catches and Gould’s night was done.  The other side of this story was the massive games from each of these teams’ quarterbacks.  Trey getting 42.3 from #1 Fantasy Qb Lamar Jackson and Brad getting 30.6 from #3 Fantasy Qb Jalen Hurts.  One of the difference makers for Brad was bonus points for 100 yard games.  Although Trey got 3 for Lamar Jackson’s 100+ yards rushing, Brad got 3 from Jalen Hurts’ 300 yard passing game, Chubb’s 100 yard rushing game, McCaffrey’s 100 yard rushing game, Waddle’s 100 yard receiving game.  And he almost got 3 more as Courtland Sutton finished with 97 yards receiving.  Overall Brad outscored Trey 12 to 3 on points from bonuses alone, which was the difference maker in a game decided by 7.5 points.

Week 4 Preview

Joe (2-1) vs. Mustafa (3-0)

This is the only matchup this week featuring two winning teams.  Joe is averaging 104.5 per game and Moose is averaging 151.5, so the records might not be the key factor heading into this matchup.  Moose’s team looks unbeatable through 3 weeks of the season.  It’s easy to see why.  Moose has #2 Qb Josh Allen in a potential shootout against Baltimore, #2 Rb Saquon Barkley against Chicago that made Dameon Pierce look solid, and #2 Wr Cooper Kupp @ San Fran that gave up 8 catches and 97 yards to Courtland Sutton last week.  Moose even has the #2 Kicker in Ryan Succop.  Crazy, #2 in every position except for defense.  He also has #7 Wr AJ Brown and #5 Tight End Dallas Goedert in another potential shootout against Jacksonville.  His bench is deep too.  We should feat this team.  Joe has Russel Wilson @ Las Vegas.  Wilson’s strength is throwing the ball deep, so maybe they can get this thing going against the Raiders 26^thranked OPRK.  Joe will have #13 Ja’Mar Chase against Miami and Mark Andrews against Buffalo.  Moose is favored by 20 points according to ESPN.  Not sure if Joe has the fire power to hang with Moose’s Juggernaut.

JD (3-0) vs. Scotty (1-2)

Dizzle swept Division 2 and now branches out to the outside world.  JD has been solid and consistent to start this season with games of 106.1, 99.2, and 119.9.  He is 3-0; however, because of his points against being the lowest in the league at 259.4, an average of 86.5 per game.  This week he goes up against the team that has the most points scored against him in Scotty.  Scotty has had 445.7 points scored against him, an average of 148.6 and somehow despite, that he managed to get a win in division play.  For even more perspective on this gap.  In the past two weeks Scotty has had 351.1 points scored against him, which is 91.7 more points than JD has had scored against him in three weeks.  Jd has #4 Qb Patrick Mahomes going up against Tampa Bay on Sunday Night Football.  Not sure where or how that game will be played given the fact that Hurricane Ian is making landfall and projects to slam into Tampa Bay.  I pray for all the path to be safe and hope the area is able to recover in the long road ahead.  If any group can empathize with the Floridians, it’s the Louisiana people that have gone through multiple similar situations over the past decade or so.  JD has #3 Rb James Robinson @ 23^rd OPRK Philly and #21 Rb Austin Ekeler vs. #32 OPRK Houston, who just got sliced and diced by Khalil Herbert last week.  Scotty has #18 Rb Joe Mixon against Miami on Thursday Night Football.  #8 Qb Justin Herbert will continue to play through that painful rib injury against Houston.  Houston has been stingy against opposing fantasy Qb’s, so we’ll see if the Chargers get a normal amount of passes or if they rely on the run more this week.  There is a chance this game will come down to Monday Night Football where Scotty would have Deebo Samuel against the LA Rams.  In 3 games against the Rams last season Deebo averaged a stat line of 4.33 catches, 88 yards receiving, .67 receiving touchdowns, and 6.67 rushes, 35.7 yards rushing, .67 rushing touchdowns.  Total Averages were 11 touches, 123.7 total yards, and 1.33 touchdowns.  Will Ekeler explode and lead JD to 4-0?  Or will Deebo pick up where he left off last season and get Scotty to 2-2?

Brad (2-1) vs. Mike (1-2)

Super Bowl 1 Rematch!  If you think Brad is feeling confident heading into Week 4 then you are mistaken.  Brad started out 2-1 last season.  What happened next?  Went 1-10 to close out the season.  Let’s see if Mike can start the losing streak for Brad again this season.  Brad will have #3 Fantasy Qb Jalen Hurts in a potential shootout with the Jacksonville Jaguars.  The Jaguars defense did a good job shutting down injured Justin Herbert, but we’ll see if they can shut down dual-threat Hurts.  Brad’s 3 headed monster at Rb consists of #1 Nick Chubb @ Atlanta, #8 CMC vs. Arizona, and #9 Aaron Jones vs. New England.  #3 Wr Jaylen Waddle faces the Bengals on Thursday Night Football.  Will have to monitor his status as he is dealing with a groin injury of sorts.  #18 Wr Courtland Sutton faces off against the Raiders in Las Vegas.  On Mike’s side he has #6 Qb Carson Wentz against Dallas’s stingy defense who is led by Micah Parsons.  He’ll have Najee Harris against the Jets and Javonte Williams vs. Las Vegas.  Tee Higgins looks to be featured in the Miami game on TNF.  He seems to have a toe issue, worth monitoring there.  ESPN has seemed to pick a winner in this one, projecting Brad the favorite by 26.8 points.  According to ESPN+ Brad has a 60% chance to win this week.  Maybe Mike can get Chris Godwin back to try for Sunday Night Football to increase his chances this week.

Tommy (2-1) vs. Katon (0-3)

This game has players in all the primetime games this week.  Tommy has #9 Qb Joe Burrow and #5 Wr Tyreek Hill on Thursday Night Football.  Katon has Alvin Kamara playing at 8:30am Central time in Jolly Ole’ London.  On Sunday Night Football Tommy has Leonard Fournette against Kansas City.  On Monday Night Football Tommy has George Kittle and Matt Gay against Katon’s Matt Stafford.  Tommy is definitely favored in this one, but big storylines to watch are Katon’s David Montgomery and his status against the Giants this week and whether or not Katon changes his strategy and starts 3 wideouts instead of 3 running backs since Wide Receiver seems to be a strength position for him.  Let’s see if Katon can get his first win of the season this week.

Chase (1-2) vs. Jen (1-2)

Two teams hoping to get to .500 this week and avoid the 1-3 hole.  Biggest game of the week for this matchup is definitely the London game featuring the Minnesota Vikings versus the New Orleans Saints.  Chase has Dalvin Cook and Alexander Mattison.  Cook left the game last week with a shoulder injury.  So we’ll see if he toughs it out and plays or if Mattison will get the start.  Chase is hoping for clarity as the worse case scenario is Cook playing and having limited snaps.  Chase also has Kirk Cousins against the stingy Saints Defense.  We’ll see if Chase makes a Qb move this week.  Jen will have Cousins’s #1 Wideout in #9 Justin Jefferson.  After Jefferson exploded in Week 1 for 37.9 fantasy points he underwhelmed with games of 7.8 and 2.9 after that.  Can he bounce back against Marcus Lattimore and the Saints defense?  Another injury to watch in this one is #4 Wr Amon-Ra St. Brown for Chase.  He tweaked his ankle last week, so we’ll see if he can go against Seattle in Week 4.  Hard to make a prediction in this matchup with so many variables up in the air.

Trey (0-3) vs. Kenny (2-1)

Trey has only scored 8.1 fewer points than Kenny so far this season.  But he found himself in Division 3, the highest scoring division by 313.7 points.  (Division 1 has scored 1218.3, Division 2 has scored 1201, Division 3 has scored 1532).  Shout out to Kenny and Chase for drafting divisions well.  They stuck some of the best teams against each other and out of their divisions.  Smart drafting by you two.  Trey has #1 Qb Lamar Jackson against Buffalo.  Jackson bet on himself this offseason and will be a free agent after this year.  For perspective on Jackson being the top scoring Qb in fantasy so far this season.  He is ranked #1.  If you took away all his rushing stats (he has rushed 26 times for 243 yards and 2 touchdowns) he would still be Fantasy Qb #5.  If you look at just his rushing stats he would currently be ranked as Rb #12.  So Trey’s Qb has been the equivalent of having the #5 Qb and the #12 Rb in fantasy in ONE Roster spot.  He also has #10 Rb Johnathan Taylor who faces Tennessee this week.  He did okay against Tennessee last season averaging 97 total yards and scoring a touchdown in one out of the two contests.  Tennessee’s Run Defense hasn’t looked as good as last year, but neither has JT so far.  We’ll see how he does this week.  For Kenny the big storyline is the loss of his #5 Rb D’Andre Swift.  He’ll have to lean on #25 Rb Devin Singletary @ Baltimore and Jeff Wilson Jr. against the Rams on MNF.  At Wr there is a big mismatch with Kenny having #10 Wr Davante Adams against Denver and #8 Wr Amari Cooper @ Atlanta.  Trey has Allen Robinson and Tyler Lockett or Allen Lazard as his Wr options.  As painful as it is for me to say it.  Trey might have an actual legit case to try and trade JT for 3 starters.  Getting a whole new team along with Lamar Jackson might make him more competitive.  In case anyone is wondering, this is my way of telling Trey to trade me Johnathan Taylor.  I’m not being subtle.

Week 2 Recap:

Division 1:

Chase (1-1) 92.3 vs. Tommy (1-1) 134.8

Tommy wind up not having George Kittle, but he wind up not needing him.  Chase’s team simply did not show up this week.  7 out of 9 players scored in single digits.  His lone bright spot was Amon-Ra St. Brown who continued his God-like rise into Fantasy Heavens with a 9 catch, 116 yard, and 2 touchdown performance accounting for a whopping 41% of Chase’s total point output.  Tommy’s team put together a much better performance than Week 1 scoring a total of 134.8.  He had 5 players score in single digits, but he had stud performances out of Tyreek “Like a Cheetah running down a” Hill who put together a monster performance of 11 catches, 190 yards and 2 touchdowns in Miami’s epic comeback victory against the Ravens.  The other stud performance came from Tampa Bay Defense and Special Teams against our Saints, unfortunately.  They had 5 turnovers, 6 sacks, a touchdown, and only allowed 10 points scored resulting in crazy 27 point performance.  Most of Tommy’s team underwhelmed by Tyreek and Tampa D accounted for 68.5 or 74% of Chase’s point total.  Tommy didn’t need anyone else to go off this week.

Joe (1-1) 87.2 vs. Mike (1-1) 101.7

The other side of Division 1 also had the unbeaten team lose to the beaten team, resulting in all four members of Division 1 being at 1-1 heading into Week 3.  Both Joe and Mike’s teams underwhelmed this week.  Joe lost Jerry Jeudy to injury after he only had 1.7 points.  The only cooking Russel Wilson is doing this season is burning through Joe’s chances of victory in fantasy football.  The new head coach, offensive coordinator, and quarterback combo for Denver has looked rough.  The only good thing out of Joe’s Week 2 game was his peripherals.  Mark Andrews had 24.2 with 9 catches, 104 yards, and touchdown.  San Fran Defense and Special Teams had 13 against the Seahawks, and Justin Tucker got a solid 10.  Joe’s peripherals combined for 55% of Joe’s total point output, which is a good indication that you are going to lose.  Mike had some good fortune fall on him after he had to find a replacement for Dak Prescott.  In comes Carson Wentz who went off against Detroit with 30.7 fantasy points.  Despite Mike have 2 players score less than 1 point in Darnell Mooney (0.1) and Dalton Schultz (0.8), he was able to crack 100 points and get his first victory of the season.  This matchup was just gross.  It reminds me of the Southpark episode where Cartman eats so much P.F. Changs that he starts shitting out of his mouth.

Division 2:

Kenny (1-1) 122.0 vs. Katon (0-2) 111.2

K-Dub gets the W in the Battle of the Special K’s.  Overall Kenny had solid production out of most of his starters, with his top scorers being Kyler Murray with 25.8 and Mike Williams with 24.3.  Adams only had 2 receptions against the Cardinals, which was odd, but he was able to save an uncharacteristic day with one of those catches going for a touchdown.  Katon left in Alvin Kamara this week, who was inactive.  For those of you new to fantasy football, Teams list their inactives 90 minutes prior to game time.  So if the kick off is at 12pm noon central time, then the inactive list comes out at 10:30am.  Giving you an hour and a fucking half to make lineup adjustments.  If you are in Mountain Time Katon, that means for an 11am kickoff, the inactive list comes out at 9:30am.  Had Katon caught this with the overwhelming plethora of time he was given to make the lineup adjustment, he could have been on the winning side of this depending on who he started.  If he just threw in Ingram, he still would have lost.  If he had moved Zeke to Rb2 and put in Christian Kirk or Devonta Smith in the flex then he would have won.  We will never know.  Katon drops to 0-2 for his sins.

Jen (1-1) 84.9 vs. JD (2-0) 99.2

Jen had a rough week in Fantasy.  Aaron Rodgers did better than Week 1, so that’s good.  Breece Hall got a touchdown.  But overall most on her team underwhelmed.  James Conner exited his game with an ankle injury and that surely contributed to his low output.  JD wasn’t much better, but the big story for him was Drake London, rookie wide receiver for Atlanta.  He had 8 catches on 12 targets for 86 yards and a touchdown.  He starts the season averaging 9.5 targets per game, which is pretty significant.  JD also had rookie Garret Wilson go off for 29 on his bench.  Despite JD having Lamb and Diontae Johnson, he may have a hard time choosing who to start each week given these rookie’s early success.  JD moves to 2-0 despite scoring the 8^th most points in the league through two weeks.

Division 3:

Trey (0-2) 111.7 vs. Mustafa (2-0) 134.6

Trey had a player score over 50 fantasy points and he lost.  Not only lost, but lost by 22.9.  He had 6 out of 9 players score in single digits.  Lamar Jackson had 318 yards passing, 119 yards rushing, 4 total touchdowns, and 8 points in bonuses alone.  The only other bright spot for Trey was his Allen’s both scoring touchdowns.  Moose is riding the Cooper Kupp revenge tour to the moon as he gets to 2-0.  Cooper Kupp got 29.3 proving at least 6 people who drafted ahead of him that they are stupid.  Moose also got 32.6 out of Josh Allen, who is making it look way too easy to carve up opposing defenses this season.  Moose had double digit performances from 7 out of 9 starters and moves to 2-0.

Brad (1-1) 207.8 vs. Scotty (1-1) 86.9

In the Office episode “Launch Party” in the fourth season, Dwight Schrute battled the new Dundler Mifflin website to prove he wouldn’t be beaten by a machine when it comes to paper sales.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iZ6bamP8wZk.  That’s how Brad felt this weekend as he battled the autodrafted Scotty lineup.  His team went off this week scoring 207.8 points, breaking Brad’s previous personal record of 191.9.  Of course it didn’t touch the league record set by Scotty last season, when he had 225.9 in Week 5.  Brad had 4 players score over 30 points with Nick Chubb getting 30.8, Jaylen Waddle getting 37.6, Aaron Jones getting 33.5 and Jalen Hurts getting 35.9. Brad cracked 200 points for the first time in his 22 year Fantasy Football career, despite getting 0 from his Tight End position.  Meanwhile on the other side of the matchup Scotty scored the second lowest in the league this week.  He had 6 players score in single digits including 3 who scored less than 5 points.  Mike Evans was ejected from the Saints game for being the little emotional bitch that he is after he shoved down Marcus Lattimore.  An ejection that ultimately led to him being suspended in next week’s game as well.  Brad wins by 120.9.  This margin of victory was more points than 8 teams scored in the league this week.

Week 3 Preview:

Division 1:

Chase (1-1) vs. Joe (1-1)

Joe’s team is so freaking ugly and bad right now.  Jesus Joe.  Russel Wilson has looked like crap and now he gets San Fran’s defense on Sunday Night Football.   Clyde Edwards-Helaire scored a pair of touchdowns in Week 1, but came back down to Earth in Week 2.  He was very efficient with his touches, but Joe would like to see more than 10-12 touches per game out of his top running back.  The lone bright spots on Joe’s roster are Ja’Marr Chase and Mark Andrews.  Joe will monitor to see if he’ll have Jeudy available this week or not.  On the other side of the matchup Chase comes in desperately needing to see something out of his first pick Dalvin Cook.  Cook is currently ranked Rb#28 and has yet to find the endzone this season.  What great fortune that Cook finds himself going up against the Lions who are currently ranked #32 OPRK giving up the most fantasy points to opposing Rb’s through 2 weeks.  Chase is hoping to see Amon-Ra St. Brown continue his incredible catch and touchdown streak.  A couple of injuries for Chase to watch this week include Michael Pittman Jr’s quad injury and whether or not we’ll see JK Dobbins make his 2022 debut.  If not, Joe could potentially start Kenyan Drake at Rb, which is just incredibly depressing to say.

Tommy (1-1) vs. Mike (1-1)

Looking at this matchup it just looks like it’s going to be fun.  Both teams are loaded with big names.  Tommy has Derrick Henry and Leonard Fournette, Mike has Najee Harris and Javonte Williams.  3 very high volume running backs and then timeshare Williams, who will have an opportunity to catch a lot of balls if the Broncos fall behind to the 49ers this week.  Tyreek Hill vs. Buffalo and DK Metcalf vs. Atlanta for Tommy and Tee Higgins vs. the Jets for Mike.  Just physical freaks all up in this matchup.  Just a fun matchup.  Big storyline to follow this week will be Carson Wentz facing off against his former team in the Philadelphia Eagles.  Look for Wentz to try and prove they made a mistake, when we all know they in fact, did not.

Division 2:

JD (2-0) vs. Katon (0-2)

Dizzle comes in trying to sweep Division 2 as Katon attempts to avoid the 0-3 hole to start the year.  JD will feature #6 Qb Patrick Mahomes @ Indianapolis and Katon will have noodle elbow Matthew Stafford with a favorable matchup @ Arizona.  Jd has Austin Ekeler who is the 18^th ranked Rb and who JD selected over Cooper Kupp like an idiot squaring off against the Jaguars.  Speaking of Jaguars, JD has #7 Rb James Robinson who has made a miraculous comeback from a torn achilles to lead the Jacksonville backfield despite the Etienne hype this summer.  JD also has rookie Drake London looking to continue his solid start to his career against Seattle.  Katon is hoping to have Alvin Kamara back against the Panthers, but will need to lean on his wideout duo of #1 Stefon Diggs and #7 Christian Kirk.  Katon is hoping to get a sign of life out of Zeke Elliot who faces the 2-0 Giants on Monday Night Football.  Zeke has scored back to back games of 5.4 fantasy points.

Kenny (1-1) vs. Jen (1-1)

Kenny leads Division 2 in points scored and is hoping to catch up to JD for the divisional lead.   Kenny has Kyler Murray who is averaging a solid 23.2 points per game going up against a Rams defense that have given up 5 passing touchdowns through two games.  #2 Rb D’Andre Swift has looked the part starting the season with 20 rushes for 200 yards and averaging 21.9 fantasy points per game.  Jen has Aaron Rodgers in the battle of the Bays.  Between Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady I’m surprised we aren’t talking about the Battle of the Hudson Bay which took place in September in 1697.  In case you didn’t get it, Rodgers and Brady are both old.  Jen is hoping James Conner doesn’t miss this week with his ankle injury.   Otherwise the Cardinals will have to lean on Eno Benjamin and Darrel Williams against the Rams and Jen will have to lean on rookie Breece Hall again.  Jen is hoping for a bounce back game from Justin Jefferson who had a quiet game being guarded by Darius Slay in Week 2.  Jen is also hoping that Terry McLaurin does a bit more.  He’s been okay scoring 12.8 and 10.2, but he has actually scored the 3^rd most fantasy points at Wide Receiver for the Commanders through two weeks.  Curtis Samuel and rookie Jahan Dotson have both scored more.  Should be a good matchup between these two.

Division 3:

Moose (2-0) vs. Scotty (1-1)

Moose is #1 in the standings after two weeks and looks to sweep his division foes.  In his way stands Scotty and his auto drafted squad minus Mike “Little Bitch” Evans who is suspended.  This matchup has the potential to be a back and forth affair with players ranging from Thursday Night Football all the way to Monday Night Football.  Scotty will strike first with Pittsburgh Defense and Special Teams squaring off against Jacoby Brissett and the Browns on TNF.  Moose will have #2 Fantasy Qb Josh Allen in a divisional game against Miami, #14 WR AJ Brown in a divisional game against the Commanders of Washington, #11 WR Michael Thomas in a divisional game against Carolina, and #2 WR Cooper Kupp in a divisional game against Arizona.  The theme of the week seems to be divisional games for Moose.  Big time players make big time plays in divisional games.  Scotty is hoping to have his stud Qb Justin Herbert for this matchup.  Herbert has fractured rib cartilage which is supposed to be extremely painful.  If he can’t go he’ll have to pivot to either Trevor Lawrence in the same matchup or Tom Brady in the Battle of the Bays.  Scotty will lean on #11 Rb Joe Mixon this week who faces a Jets defense that just gave up 87 rushing yards and 3 rushing touchdowns to Nick Chubb last week.  The Bengals are 0-2 after losing in back to back games by last second field goals.  Joe Burrow has been sacked 13 times through two weeks.  Look for the Bengals to lean on the rushing attack against the Jets to try and keep Burrow’s ass upright.

Trey (0-2) vs. Brad (1-1)

Battle of the Top 2 Picks in this years draft!  T-Money comes in seriously doubting how he handled the #1 Overall Pick this season.  He drafted Taylor, which was the correct pick, but going Etienne and Pitts at the Round 2 and 3 turn has proven disastrous over the first two weeks of the season.  He drafted these players over Nick Chubb (Rb#1) and Tyreek Hill (Wr#3).  Etienne sits at Rb#36 and has shown to be second fiddle to James Robinson.  One bright spot is that his touches doubled from Week 1 to Week 2, as he went from 6 touches to 12 touches.  Kyle Pitts sits at Tight End #36 and has shown to be second fiddle to rookie Drake London in Atlanta.  When asked about Pitts lack of production on the field, head coach Arthur Smith responded with “It’s not fantasy football.  We’re just trying to win.”  I find this quote ironic considering their best chance to win is probably going to involve getting the ball into the hands of one of your best players on offense.  This week Brad opens up as 13.1 point favorites according to ESPN predictions.  Trey has #1 Qb Lamar Jackson going to New England.  The Patriots have been stingy against fantasy Qb’s and currently rank 8^th in OPRK.  #5 Rb Johnathan Taylor faces Kansas City who gave up a rushing touchdown to James Conner in Week 1.  If Trey is going to compete this week he’ll need more production from the rest of his lineup.  Otherwise this is going to be a very long season.  Brad is coming off of his 200-point explosion where he blew his load in Week 2.  Not particularly surprising that Brad blew his load this early in the game.  Brad has his 4 Rb’s in the starting lineup again this week with #1 Rb Nick Chubb facing the Steelers on Thursday Night Football, #8 Rb Christian McCaffrey with a tough matchup against the Saints, and #4 Rb Aaron Jones with a tough matchup @ Tampa Bay.  Buffalo is @ Miami, proving tough matchups for four of Brad’s starters, Waddle, Knox, Buf Defense and Special Teams, and kicker Tyler Bass.  We’ll see if the matchups can bend this one in Trey’s favor to get his first win of the season or if Brad will ride the momentum of his Week 2 explosion into a winning streak.
