BBY Dream Team League S14 Week 12 Recap & Week 13 Preview

Sorry for no write up in Week 12.  Hilary was battling COVID, the whole family was sick, and I was working solo at work and had to deal with resignations and a termination all while trying to prepare for Thanksgiving.  I hope you all had had a great time with family and friends and football this holiday.  I’m grateful to be connected with all of you guys still despite us being apart for so many years.  We are all feeling better by the way and getting back to normal.

Week 12 Recap:

Division 1:

Mike (7-5) 158.9 vs. Chase (7-5) 114.8

Mike Grote’s team exploded.  Critical matchup in D1, fighting and clawing for a playoff spot.  And Mike’s team delivered.  Mainly due to Josh Jacobs ridiculous 52.3 point explosion.  Absolutely killer.  A big portion of his points came in OT when he ripped off an 86 yard game winning walk off run for a touchdown.  Mike also had solid games from Tee Higgins who had 7 catches for 114 yards and a touchdown (23.9) and Chris Godwin who had 12 catches for 110 yards and a touchdown (26.0) and Dalton Schultz who caught 2 touchdowns for 17.1 fantasy points.  Chase didn’t have a bad week per se, but he just couldn’t compete with Josh Jacobs.  He got Amon-Ra St. Brown’s big game on Thanksgiving with 9 catches for 122 yards and a touchdown (26.4) and decent days from Carr (20.8), Foreman (14.3), Kelce (13.7), and Hopkins (16.7).  Mike gets the critical victory, but Chase remains ahead of him in the standings with more points for.

Joe (4-8) 107.5 vs. Tommy (8-4) 79.8

Tommy faced his easiest opponent in the division and lost!  This was Tommy’s gimme game before facing two hungry and upcoming teams fighting for their playoff spots in Mike and Chase to close out the regular season.  Joe got to play the role of spoiler and got the upset.  Joe didn’t have anyone go off he was just solid.  With Geno Smith getting 22.2, Samaje Perine getting 17.3, Adam Thielen 16.6, and SF D/ST getting 15 and Justin Tucker getting 14.  On Tommy’s side his team just shit the bed.  Burrow got 18, Derrick Henry only got 13.2, Tyreek got 12, DK Metcalf got 14.5 and his peripherals underperformed with a combination of 13.1.  Tommy also started inactive Leonard Fournette.  Don’t think it would’ve mattered, but Points For can impact standings and playoff seeding, so it’ll be something to watch over the next couple of weeks.  I imagine Tommy was either in the Titans booth sipping champagne or out in the woods slaughtering deer instead of setting his lineup, which is understandable.  There is more to life than pretend football.  

Division 2:

JD (10-2) 143.9 vs. Kenny (5-7) 79.3

Congratulations to JD who has almost locked in a bye week in the playoffs.  The only thing standing in his way is Tommy since JD beat Brad head to head.  If Tommy and Brad both go 2-0 and JD loses both games then it might come down to head to head and since they’ve played an equal amount of games against one another, Tommy 2-0 would be 1 seed, JD 1-1 would be 2 seed, and Brad 0-2 would be 3 seed.  So unless I’m not calculating something right JD has earned a bye.  If he wins one more or Tommy or Brad loses one more then it’s 100%.  JD crushes Kenny by 64.6 points.  JD had a complete victory this week.  Everybody scored between 8.7 to 25.9.  8/9 scored in double digits.  He made all the right start/sit decisions.  He crushed it and dominated.  On Kenny’s side this makes his playoff hopes very very slim.  ESPN has him at a 4% chance of making the playoffs.  It’s not 0, but it would require a crazy amount of stuff to happen to get him in as the 6th seed.  Kenny had 5/9 starters score in single digits including his kicker getting -1 point.  His matchups were good on paper, but not in fantasy reality.

Katon (2-10) 88.8 vs. Jen (6-6) 104.5

Jen is staying alive!  Her trio of Running Backs outperformed Katon’s trio of Running Backs.  She had James Conner rush for over 100 yards and catch a receiving touchdown for 22.5 points, Kenneth Walker scored two touchdowns for 16.4 points, and Aaron Jones did his thing with a receiving touchdown and 17.4 points.  Her Rb’s combined for 56.3.  For Katon he had Alvin Kamara fumble it twice for 4 points, David Montgomery got 12.8, and Zeke Elliot did his thing on Thanksgiving with a solid 16.  His Rbs combined for 32.8.  So Jen’s Rb’s outscored Katon’s Rbs by 23.5.  Jen won the game by 15.7.  Twas the difference.  Jen still has to battle Kenny and JD to close out the regular season looking at the standings she most likely will need to win both games and get some help in order to make it due to her lower points for.

Division 3:

Moose (7-5) 102.5 vs. Brad (8-4) 137.3

Revenge!  Brad gets his Week 1 Revenge against Moose.  Of course Moose’s team has been wrecked by injuries as of late.  But Brad gets the win and clinches a playoff spot.  He currently sits in 1st in Division 3 and #1 in Points Scored.  Brad got 32.7 from Jalen hurts who rushed for 157 yards against the Packers.  He got 22.7 from Nick Chubb who scored the game winning touchdown in OT to beat the Bucs.  And Justin Jefferson did his thing on Thanksgiving catching 9 balls for 139 yards and a touchdown (27.8) points.  Brad changed out his tight end at the last minute and made the wrong choice, but overall solid day.  On Moose’s side he got his normal 29.8 from Josh Allen.  Barkley did ok with 13.2 and Stevenson did his thing with 15.7.  His peripherals combined for 28.8, which is decent.  Wr 2 Curtis Samuel only got 1.3 and his flex Dameon Pierce only got 3.1.  I was sure Moose was going to put in Rashad White after Fournette was ruled out, but he didn’t.  I saw Moose posting pictures of the Grand Canyon on Instagram, so again I completely understand that there is more to life than our pretend football hobby.   As Ron Swanson says, “Crying is only okay in two places.  Funerals and the grand canyon.”  Moose still has a high percentage chance of making the playoffs with his high points for.  ESPN has him at an 96% chance.

Scotty (3-9) 98.7 vs. Trey (5-7) 137.8

Trey is like the night in Monty Python’s The Holy Grail.  “I’m not dead yet!”  With his victory over Scotty he now faces the two leaders of the division in Moose (7-5) and then Brad (8-4).  Both of which have scored almost 250+ more points for on the season.  Trey’s victory over Scotty was due to Miles Sanders rushing for 143 yards and 2 touchdowns against Green Bay (32.5), Christian Watson catching 4 balls for 110 yards and a touchdown against Philly (24.0) and Lamar Jackson doing decent against Jacksonville with 89 yards rushing and 22.9 fantasy points.  Trey did lose Travis Etienne Jr. early in the Baltimore game due to a foot injury, but word from Jacksonville is that he could have gone back in but they were being extra cautious.   Scotty got 28.6 from Justin Herbert which is awesome.  But he also started Joe Mixon who was inactive due to a concussion, which of course was not awesome.  Hopefully Scotty gets that lineup set this week and he looks to play spoiler to Brad and Moose.

Week 13 Preview:

Division 1:

Mike (7-5) vs. Joe (4-8)

Joe is eliminated from the playoffs, but he’s out to play spoiler against his division.  Mike has been holding on to a thread for weeks and finds himself on the cusp of a playoff berth.  Standing in his way is Joe’s #7 Qb Geno Smith against LA Rams who are playing all backups on offense and won’t have Aaron Donald on defense.  #8 Rb Tony Pollard against Indy on Sunday Night Football.  Joe is hoping to have Ja’Marr Chase back in his lineup against KC.  And #2 Tight End Mark Andrews faces Denver.  For Mike he has Dak Prescott against Indy in that SNF game.  #22 Rb Najee Harris has a great matchup against Atlanta if he plays.  Last week he sustained a abdomen injury and is questionable for this week.  Mike also has Running Back Number Fucking 1 Josh Jacobs.  Brad was wrong in his draft grades.  DEAD WRONG.  Jacobs is also questionable with a calf injury.  They’ll monitor this week, but I’m sure they’ll deploy him against a beatable LA Chargers defense.  Mike will also have #11 Wr Tee Higgins  in a potential shootout with Kansas City and Chris Godwin against the Saints.  Saints Defense has looked better and always plays well against the Bucs.  But Godwin has scored in back to back games and looks matchup proof as Brady’s go-to receiver.  Should be a great game.  Good luck gentleman!

Tommy (8-4) vs. Chase (7-5)

Let’s Gooooooooooo.  Tommy can clinch the division with a victory since he would be 2 games up on Chase with only 1 game to go after this week.  If Mike wins out he could tie Tommy’s record at 9-5, but Tommy has scored 211.4 more points than Mike and they would have split their record against each other.  If Chase wins then things get interesting.  Chase and Tommy would both be 8-5 and if Mike wins he too would be 8-5.  In that scenario if Mike beats Tommy in Week 14 and Chase loses to Joe then Mike could win the division.  If Chase beats Joe he would be 9-5 and meaning if Tommy beats Mike Tommy would be Division 1 winner and if Mike beat Tommy Chase would be division winner.  Division 1 is the only division with 3 teams that have a chance to win the division.  So exciting!  Any who, we can do what if’s all day long, let’s focus on this week.  Tommy has Qb 4. Joe Burrow vs. Kansas City in a potential shootout.  Chase has rub a dub tug Deshaun “Rape-y fuck twat” Watson in his first NFL game in 700 days against his former team in Houston.  The creepy piece of shit who allegedly forced women to give him hand jobs while he was getting massages will need to shake off some rust and I’m sure a shit ton of boo’s as he squares off against Houston’s #5 ranked OPRK.  We’ll see if the pile of human garbage can perform and be the answer at Qb, a position that has plagued Chase this season.  Tommy also has #2 Rb Derrick Henry against Philly.  Teams were running pretty good against Philly which motivated them to sign Suh and Linval Joseph at DT to try and shore that up.  Tommy is hoping to have #17 Rb Leonard Fournette back on MNF against the Saints.  We’ll see if his hip pointer keeps him out another week and/or if Rashad White continues to be the lead back for the Bucs.  Chase has #11 Dalvin Cook against the Jets who have been decent against the Run (#10 OPRK) and Gus “the Bus” Edwards in a tough matchup against Denver.  D’Onta Foreman was able to rush for over 100 yards against Denver, so we’ll see if Edwards continues to lead the Baltimore backfield and can replicate that success.  Tommy’s #4 Wr Tyreek Hill faces San Francisco.  Mike McDaniel returns to his previous employer trying to keep Miami surging in the AFC.  #19 Wr DK Metcalf gets the Rams.  Last season against the Rams he had one great game (5-98-2) and one stinker game (6-52-0).  Of course last season the Rams won the Super Bowl and this season they suck, but Jalen Ramsey should be active.  Chase has the two most fun names to say in Fantasy at WR with #12 Amon-Ra St. Brown and JuJu Smith-Schuster.   The Sun God faces Jacksonville and JuJu is in a potential shootout with a pretty good Cincy defense.   This game has huge implications.  Enjoy it this Sunday and Monday fellas.

Division 2:

JD (10-2) vs. Jen (6-6)

Two teams with the longest win streaks in the league as JD has won 7 straight and Jen has won 3 straight. JD can clinch the 1 seed and a bye with the victory.  Jen can keep her playoff hopes alive with the victory.  Both with high stakes.  JD will have #1 Qb Patrick Mahomes in a revenge game against Cincinnati.  The Bengals eliminated the Chiefs 27-24 in OT of the AFC Championship game last season.  JD also has #3 Rb Austin Ekeler against the Raiders.  Ekeler underwhelmed in Week 1 with only 9.2 fantasy points against the Raiders, but I don’t believe he’ll be repeating that performance.  Jd will also be starting newly acquired Zonovan Knight.  An undrafted rookie has hopes of starting for the Jets this week with James Robinson underperforming in practice and Michael Carter hobbled by an ankle injury.  JD dropped $31 for Zonovan to start him at Rb2 this week.  He also has another Jet in Wr#21 Garret Wilson.  With Mike White at Qb Wilson exploded last week.  This week he gets a Vikings defense ranked #26 in OPRK against Fantasy Receivers.  Jd will also have #8 Wr CeeDee Lamb who will have to navigate a solid Colts secondary led by Stephon Gilmore.  For Jen she is turning to Mike White against Minnesota over #11 Qb Daniel Jones against Washington.  She’ll be without James Conner this week due to bye, which is unfortunate.  She still has #14 Rb Kenneth Walker against Aaron Donald-less Rams defense and #7 Aaron Jones in a smash spot against a completely depleted and overmatched Chicago defense.  In Week 2 Jones scored 33.5 against Chicago and that we before they traded away Robert Quinn to the Eagles, Roquan Smith to the Ravens, and lost Safety Eddie Jackson to a season ending Lisfranc injury.  Jen will also have #15 Terry McLaurin vs. the Giants and #13 Chris Olave against Tampa.  In Week 2 Olave caught 5 of 13 targets for 80 yards.  Jd is favored, but this is fantasy football and anything can happen.  Will Jd win his 8th in a row and knock Jen out the playoffs?  Or will Jen keep hope alive and win her 4th straight?

Katon (2-10) vs. Kenny (5-7)

Kenny is technically still alive for the playoffs but he would need a miracle.  ESPN gives him a 4% chance, which is the smallest odds of the remaining 9 teams in contention.  He does get Katon, which has been the leagues proverbial doormat this season.  Katon will have struggling Rb #18 Alvin Kamara against Tampa Bay on MNF, #1 Wr Stefon Diggs @ New England on TNF, #10 WR Christian Kirk in a smash spot against Detroit and Zeke against Indy on SNF.  Kenny will have #12 Qb Tua Tagovailoa against San Fran, #21 Rb Jeff Wilson against his former team, and #24 Rb Devin Singletary @ New England on TNF.  #3 Davante Adams gets LA Chargers.  #7 Amari Cooper gets Houston with a new Qb at the helm in Deshaun “Seriously you are a pro athlete and you couldn’t get girls to please you sexually for free?” Watson.  We’ll see if Cooper and Watson have good chemistry from practice or if Watson is rusty after the long hiatus.  Best of luck Kenny.  We’ll see if he’ll be banished to the bottom bowl or if his slim hopes will stay alive this week.

Division 3:

Moose (7-5) vs. Trey (5-7)

Trey is hanging on by a thread.  Moose has his eyes set on a Division Crown.  Only one can win.  Moose will get the party started on Thursday Night Football with both #2 Qb Josh Allen and #12 Rb Rhamondre Stevenson.  Then on Sunday Moose will deploy #5 Rb Saquon Barkley against Washington, #16 Rb Dameon Pierce against Cleveland, and WR #9 AJ Brown in a revenge game against his former team the Tennessee Titans.  The Titans traded away AJ Brown and drafted Treylon Burks.  You know Brown will be motivated to assert his dominance over the young Titans secondary.  I don’t know if Trey can survive what’s about to happen to the Titans.  Unless… the Eagles use Brown as decoy given the headlines and feed Trey’s Rb #13 Miles Sanders.  Titans have been a pass funnel mainly due to the fact that they are so good stopping the run.  Something to watch, but I would not want to be a member of the Titans secondary this week.  Trey will also have rookie Christian Watson against the ghost of defenses past Chicago.  Watson has scored touchdowns in each of his last 3 games.  6 to be exact.  And caught one from Jordan Love last week, which is a good sign if Aaron Rodgers isn’t able to go due to being so beat up right now.  Trey will #20 Rb Jonathan Taylor on SNF against a good Dallas defense and then on Monday Night Football Moose will have #8 Kicker Ryan Succop and Trey will have #4 TE Taysom Hill.  Would be crazy if this game came down to a peripheral bowl on Monday Night.  A couple of relevant storylines to watch this week will be whether Travis Etienne plays for Trey and/or if Christian McCaffrey plays for San Fran.  Trey picked up Tyrion Davis-Price as a hail mary in the event CMC sits and the 49ers decide to make him lead back this week.  Brad went with a different strategy which we’ll talk more about in the next matchup.

Scotty (3-9) vs. Brad (8-4)

I have my eyes on the prize.  A year after finishing 3-11 and finishing the regular season in dead last, Brad once again finds himself in the playoffs.   Even more he has a chance to win his division AND is currently #1 in Points Scored, which has a $200 bill awaiting the winner.  He can’t get ahead of himself though.  In his way sits Scotty.  Scotty will have #9 Justin Herbert in a shootout with the Raiders, #10 Rb Joe Mixon looks to clear concussion protocol and play in a big time shootout against Kansas City, TD Magent #9 Jamaal Williams faces Jacksonville, #25 WR Tyler Boyd is in the Cincy-KC game, #20 Wr Deebo Samuel gets Miami and #3 Tight End TJ Hockenson gets the Jets.  The big story for Brad is Christian McCaffrey.  He has a knee ailment that will limit his practice this week.  They are hopeful he plays against Miami.  Brad picked up Jordan Mason just in case, but it’s no lock that Mason would start if McCaffrey is inactive.  They could go with bigger back Tyrion Davis-Price or even bring Tevin Coleman up from the practice squad and have him handle the bulk of carries.  Brad also has Jaylen Warren who could be in line for a high workload against a beatable Atlanta defense if Najee Harris is inactive and he has Jamycal Hasty who could be in line for a high workload against a beatable Detroit defense if Travis Etienne is inactive.  Brad has options.  #4 Nick Chubb faces Houston’s #32 OPRK defense.  #2 Justin Jefferson will square off against the Sauce and #6 Jaylen Waddle will be in that interesting 49ers game.   Brad also has Isaih Pacheco who has taken over as KC’s lead running back and Jerick McKinnon the third down back is banged up, albeit they have a tough matchup against the Bengals.  Brad is heavily favored in this one, but he still has a lot of options and storylines to pay attention to and manage as the week progresses.  He’s hoping he’ll have good games out of his #4 Bills D/ST and #2 Kicker Tyler Bass who both play on TNF.

Playoff Implications Everywhere.  Cold Weather.  Injuries.  Hope.  Ambition.  Fantasy Football.

BBY Dream Team League Season 14: Week 10 Recap & Week 11 Preview

Week 10 Recap:

JD (8-2) 137.6 vs. Brad (7-3) 130.6

Bit Time game with playoff seeding implications.  Brad was down by 28.8 heading into Monday Night Football with Jalen Hurts left to play.  IBM Watson gave Brad a 28% chance of Jalen Hurts scoring over 30 fantasy points.  Earlier in the year in Week 3 Jalen scored 30.6 points, so Brad just needed a repeat.  Unfortunately, it wasn’t in the cards as Jalen went for 21.8 points as the Eagles lost to the Commanders. Brad had solid producers led by Justin Jefferson’s 33.3 points on 10 catches for 193 yards and a touchdown against a good Bills team.  Only disappointing spot for Brad was Greg Dulcich who only had 1 catch for 11 yards in Denver’s loss to Tennessee.  For JD he had two of his players go off for him in Patrick Mahomes who threw for over 300 yards and 4 touchdowns against the Jaguars for 34.1 fantasy points and CeeDee Lamb who caught 11 balls for 150 receiving yards and 2 touchdowns in a losing effort against the Green Bay Packers (35.5).  He got solid production from Mostert (16.7) Rodale Moore (13.9) and Ten D/ST (13).  All this despite an underwhelming game by Austin Ekeler, who scored his lowest amount (9.8) since Week 3.  With this win JD has clinched a playoff spot.  Congratulations JD!

Joe (3-7) 69.8 vs. Kenny (4-6) 132.8

K-Dub crushes Joe by a whopping 63 points, almost doubling him up this week.  Joe got solid production out of Geno Smith (19.2) and Tony Pollard (23.3) but he had a season record 3 players score exactly 0 points. Eno Benjamin, Jerry Jeudy, and Clyde Edwards Helaire.  Kenny started Jeff Wilson Jr who went off against Cleveland for 24.3 fantasy points and Cole Kmet against Detroit who scored a pair of touchdowns for 23.4.  Adams was Adams with 26.1 and Devin Singletary ran for 2 touchdowns.  Complete effort from Kenny as he stays in the playoff hunt.

Jen (4-6) 115.3 vs. Tommy (7-3) 108.3

Jen with the upset!  Yall may remember Jen and Brad had a trade a few weeks ago.  After JJ went off for 33.3 points this week one might have been thinking that Jen lost that trade.  As the Legendary Lee Corso likes to say, “Not so fast!”  She got 18.2 from Daniel Jones, 25.6 from Aaron Jones, and 18.3 from Gabe Davis, a total of 62.1 points.  Heading into MNF she was at 95.5 points to Tommy’s 108.3.  Terry McLaurin remained.  Scary Terry wind up getting 8 catches for 128 yards and he looked good doing it.  19.8 and the victory by 7 points.  On Tommy’s side he turned to Justin Fields with Joe Burrow on bye and Fields delivered yet again.  44.3 fantasy points!  Everyone else on Tommy’s team had a quiet game.  Tyreek had 12.9, Henry had 7.7.  Just couldn’t get it going this week.  Jen is still in the playoff hunt!

Chase (6-4) 135.6 vs. Scotty (3-7) 60.3

Chase more than doubles up Scotty.  Scotty had every single player score 12 or less, including 7/9 in single digits.  His team scored a total of 2 touchdowns, 1 from Herbert and 1 from Jamaal Williams.  Chase started Subway Spokesperson and Terrible Quarterback Russel Wilson @ Tennesee, but the story for Chase was his rbs Dalvin Cook (27.1) and D’Onta Foreman (22) combining for 49.1.  Kelce, Hopkins, and Amon-Ra St. Brown did their thing.  The only unfortunate thing for Chase was JuJu Smith-Schuster got hurt and was put in the concussion protocol and had to exit the game.

Mike (5-5) 95.3 vs. Trey (4-6) 98.9

Mike held a slim lead of 1.8 fantasy points heading into MNF while Trey had Miles Sanders left.  Sanders sucked, but he got Trey 5.4 points which was enough for the victory.  Trey wins his third in a row.  He was carried by the 1st overall pick Jonathan Taylor.  It’s amazing.  The Colts and JT suck.  They fire their coach, turn to the veteran Qb, and give JT the ball and magically they win a game.  JT’s schedule looks great to end the year, so don’t count Trey out of this thing yet.  If he can squeeze into a post season berth he can compete.  Mike couldn’t get it going this week.  Jacobs got a respectable 19.6 points and Chris Godwin got his first touchdown of the season.  But 5 players scoring in single digits and Mike starting the wrong tight end was the difference in the game.

Katon (2-8) 108.3 vs. Mustafa (7-3) 84.5

PIGS CAN FLY! HELL HAS FROZEN OVER! Katon takes down Mustafa!  Worse than the loss for Moose was the two injuries he sustained.  Cooper Kupp is heading to IR after suffering a high ankle sprain.  He exited with 1.4 fantasy points.  Tight End Dallas Goedert was also injured.  Moose had Josh Allen play gutsy and score 22.6 and Saquon Barkley did his thing against Houston with 25.5, but the rest of his team combined for a paltry 36.4 points.  How did Katon do it?  Stefon Diggs had 12 catches for 128 yards and 21.8 fantasy points and Christian Kirk went for his best game of the season with 9 catches, 105 yards, and 2 touchdowns (30 fantasy points).  Those two combined for 51.8 points.  Katon got a touchdown from Devonta Smith on MNF and was able to get the job done.

Week 11 Preview

Last Week of Non-Divisional Games!  Playoff Implications Everywhere!

Chase (6-4) vs. Brad (7-3)

Both teams have a very strong chance to make the playoffs.  ESPN has Chase at 90% chance of making the playoffs and Brad at 99% chance of making the playoffs.  That % chance will go down for one of these teams this week.  Chase has renamed his team “Land of Misfti Quaterbacks” which is appropriate.  Chase has started 4 different quarterbacks this season and has averaged 12.54 points per game at the position.  Compare that to Brad who has started only 2 quarterbacks, his starter #3 Jalen Hurts and #15 Daniel Jones who only started due to Hurts’ bye week.  Brad has averaged 25.31 from the Qb position.  This week Chase turns to Qb #22 Russell Wilson.  Who has looked awful.  His only really strong performance came in Week 4 when he faced this same Raiders team he faces now.  He scored 26.9 fantasy points in that matchup, throwing for 2 touchdowns and rushing for 1 touchdown.  He hasn’t scored more than 14.2 since Week 4.  The Raiders suck, so let’s see if Wilson repeats or if the loss of Jerry Jeudy hurts his value.  Brad’s Hurts matches up against Indianapolis.  Indy has been pretty solid in stopping opposing Qbs.  At Rb teams look to be pretty even with Chase having #9 Rb Dalvin Cook against Dallas and D’Onta Foreman at home against Baltimore.  Foreman has rushed for over 100 yards in 3 out of the 4 weeks since the CMC trade.  We’ll see if he can continue that success this week or if his stats are inflated from playing Atlanta twice.  Brad has #6 Rb Christian McCaffrey against Arizona.  CMC played Arizona earlier this season for the Panthers and had 9 catches on 9 targets for 81 yards and a receiving touchdown.  Look for CMC to get his normal amount of usage and touches despite Elijah Mitchell getting more snaps in his return last week.  #1 Rb Nick Chubb faces Buffalo.  Buffalo is giving up an average of 30.8 fantasy points per game to opposing running backs the last 3 weeks.  Also this game is projected to be a heavy snow game, meaning lots of runs and weird punts.  Chase has the advantage at WR due to Brad being without #6 WR Jaylen Waddle due to bye weeks.  He’ll rely on #3 Justin Jefferson against Dallas and Courtland Sutton against Las Vegas.  Brad hoping for more targets to Sutton and Dulcich with Jeudy being injured.  Chase has the Sun-God Amon-Ra St. Brown against the Giants.  His usage is insane.  He also has DeAndre Hopkins versus San Fran on MNF.  Hopkins has been a target and reception monster since coming back from suspension and now looks to pick up more potential targets with the injury to Zach Ertz.  Chase also has Philly D against Indy which is going to be a smash and Dicker the Kicker.  Should be a great matchup.

Mike (5-5) vs. Katon (2-8)

Katon has all but been eliminated from playoff contention, but Mike is still fighting for a spot.  ESPN has Mike with a 52% chance of making a playoff spot.  Standing in Mike’s way is a Katon team with some favorable matchups this week.  Katon has #18 Alvin Kamara against LA Rams, David Montgomery in a smash spot against Atlanta.  With Khalil Herbert out of the way look for Montgomery’s usage to spike.  Katon also has #2 WR Stefon Diggs in a smash spot against Cleveland.  Depending on weather conditions.  WR Devonta Smith should be busy against Indianapolis and don’t overlook Brian Robinson Jr against Houston.  Houston is #32 OPRK against Fantasy Rbs and have given up an average of 198 rushing yards in the past 3 weeks.  For Mike he’s hoping for an NFC shootout between Dallas and Minnesota to fuel Dak Prescott.  Dak has looked pretty good since his return from injury.  Mike also has TE Dalton Schultz in that game for the Dak-Dalton stack.  Najee Harris had his most carries and rushing yards of the season last week against the terrible Saints.  Let’s see how he does against a Cincy defense he scored 9.6 against in Week 1 due in large part to a receiving touchdown.  #5 Rb Josh Jacobs faces Denver.  In Week 4 of this year Jacobs rushed 28 times for 144 yards and 2 rushing touchdowns.  Mike would love a repeat of that performance.  Tee Higgins was quiet in Week 1 against Pittsburgh but with Ja’Marr Chase out his target share should remain higher.  Not sure who Mike will wind up starting at Wr2 and Flex with Chris Godwin out on bye.  Katon will need to pick up a TE with Evan Engram on bye.

JD (8-2) vs. Mustafa (7-3)

One week after JD defeats Brad from Division 3, he gets Moose from Division 3.  Of course the big story heading into this week is Moose losing WR #4 Cooper Kupp and TE # 4 Dallas Goedert to injuries last week.  These two were averaging 30.3 points per game combined and will be big shoes to fill on Moose’s roster.  I would say look for Moose to make a trade since he is deep at RB, but we have passed the trade deadline.  Dizzle also lost Khalil Herbert to IR due to a hip injury.  This leaves him a little shorthanded considering Raheem Mostert is currently on a bye week.  JD does have A lot of players playing in primetime games this week.  #1 Qb Patrick Mahomes, #3 Rb Austin Ekeler, and either Keenan Allen or Joshua Palmer all face off on SNF when the Chiefs battle the Chargers in Los Angeles.  JD also has #11 D/ST Tennessee against Green Bay on TNF.  Looks like JD will need to find a Tight End and it looks like he’ll roll with James Robinson @ New England.  On Moose’s side he has #2 Qb Josh Allen in a blizzard game against Cleveland.  Luckily for Moose Allen is a really good runner, which will maintain a solid floor despite the potential elements.  #4 Rb Saquon Barkley faces Detroit.  Detroit has been better against the run in recent weeks if you don’t count Justin Fields running all over them last week.  Montgomery and Herbert were pretty quiet last week.  Barkley should be solid, but maybe he won’t explode like it looks like he could on paper. #14 Rb Dameon Pierce faces a tough Washington team coming off of an emotional and statement win against the previously undefeated Philly Eagles.  Moose has #8 Wr AJ Brown against the Colts.  He may get matched up with Stephon Gilmore.  He also appeared to look off on Monday Night Football.  He came up limping one play.  The announcers said he just changed his cleats out, but he never was a factor against Washington.   Something to monitor this week in practice.  Moose will also have #12 Rb Rhamondre Stevenson against New York Jets.  A couple weeks ago he scored 17.8 against this Jets defense, including 7 catches on 7 targets for 72 receiving yards.  Moose will have Toney on SNF and Foster Moreau @ Denver.  Moreau is serviceable at TE due to target share, but the Raiders suck, limiting his upside.   With JD’s depth issues this might be a Moose week as the leaders of D2 and D3 square off!

Joe (3-7)  vs. Jen (4-6)

There is no easy way to put this.  Joe’s team is dead.  Between injuries (Jerry Jeudy looks to miss time, Ja’Marr Chase isn’t back yet), bye weeks (Geno Smith and Noah Fant on byes), and his RB getting released (Eno Benjamin was released and signed with the Texans).  He should get Mark Andrews back this week.  So that’s something.  Jen has her full team minus rookie phenom Kenneth Walker who is on bye this week.   She is heavily favored with Qb #15 Daniel Jones playing Detroit who just got torched on the ground by Justin Fields, #8 Rb Aaron Jones plays Tennessee, and #12 WR Terry McLaurin faces Houston.

Tommy (7-3) vs. Trey (4-6)

Both teams have gotten hit hard with bye weeks this week.  Tommy will be without #11 Rb Leonard Fournette,  #1 WR Tyreek Hill, and #17 DK Metcalf.  Trey will be without #10 RB Travis Etienne and #11 WR Tyler Lockett.  In addition to both missing folks on bye weeks they both have Quarterbacks that have 2 games over 40+ fantasy points each.  Tommy’s #4 Qb Justin Fields who has a juicy matchup against Atlanta and Trey’s #6 Qb Lamar Jackson with a juicy matchup against Carolina.  Of course Fields is supposed to be backing up #5 Qb Joe Burrow for Tommy who now finds himself in a bit of a QB quandary.  I don’t see how you can bench Fields right now.  Both Tommy’s #1 Rb Derrick Henry against Green Bay on TNF and Trey’s #24 Jonathan Taylor against Philly have decent matchups.  You can run on Philly as shown by Dameon Pierce and Brian Robinson the last couple of weeks.  Tommy was given a lot of shit for drafting Dereck Henry over Cooper Kupp in the draft and now he’s putting the haters back in the refrigerator with the rest of the hate-o-rade.  Tommy 1- Brad 0.   This should be a huge game with playoff implications.  Can Trey stay in the hunt?  Can Tommy get a step closer to clinching Division 1 with Chase hot on the…Chase?

Kenny (4-6)  vs. Scotty (3-7)

Kenny is alive!  He’s hoping to stay in the playoff hunt this week.  ESPN has K-Dub having a 16% chance of making the playoffs.  Scotty is down to just 3% chance.  The Theme of Kenny’s team is injuries.  Kyler Murray was injured last week, so we’ll have to see if he is back in action this week on MNF against a tough San Fran defense.  D’Andre Swift is back, but limited.  He has a total of 22 touches the last 3 weeks combined, which is not good.  A pair of touchdowns is the only thing keeping him borderline startable right now.  Kenny will have Singletary in the snow game.  #5 WR Davante Adams against Denver.  In Week 4 he caught 9 balls on 13 targets for 101 yards.  #13 Amari Cooper is in the snow game.  We’ll see if Kenny gets Mike Williams back from injury or if he needs to turn to Elijah Mitchell, Damien Harris, or Jacobi Meyers.  Also Cole Kmet got rolled up at the end of the game last week, so JD will have to monitor that as well.  On Scotty’s side he gets Rb#7 Joe Mixon back from bye, but now WR #14 Mike Evans is out on bye.  Herbert gets KC on SNF.  Jamaal Williams is @ NYG like Kenny’s Swift.  DJ Moore and Hockensen should remain high in terms of target share and fantasy potential.  Deebo should be a factor on MNF.  This could be a very close game.  Will Katon play spoiler to the fringe playoff teams?  Or will Scotty pull out a victory and hold on to a sliver of a chance?  We shall see!

Thanks and Good Luck!

BBY Dream Team League S14: Week 8 Recap & Week 9 Preview

Week 8 Recap:

Brad (6-2) 172.6 vs. Joe (3-5) 104.2

Brad explodes for 172.6 points for his second highest point total of the season.  Jalen Hurts threw for 4 touchdowns and 28.4 fantasy points, Christian McCaffrey scored a passing touchdown, a rushing touchdown, and a receiving touchdown flexing his potential as a 49er to the tune of 36.1 fantasy points. Jalen Waddle scored 2 touchdowns with 29.6 points.  Nick Chubb scored 2 touchdowns with 27.9 points.  Between those 4 players Brad scored 122 points enough to defeat Joe’s entire team by 17.8 points.  Joe did have a lone bright spot on his team in Tony Pollard.  Pollard rushed for 131 yards and 3 rushing touchdowns against Chicago with Zeke Elliot ruled out due to a knee injury.  Geno Smith was serviceable with 19.0 points and Jerry Jeudy did his thing in London with 6 catches for 63 yards and a touchdown (15.3 points).  Brad just went off, nothing to do about that.

Kenny (3-5) 103.0 vs. Chase (5-3) 150.4

K-Dub got rocked by Chase who was led by D’onta Foreman’s 34.8 fantasy points.  With Chuba Hubbard inactive due to an ankle injury Foreman was free to run wild against the Falcons.  Hopkins looked scary good with 30.9 fantasy points and Dalvin Cook had another nice game with 25.6.  Kenny couldn’t hand despite getting 32.1 from Tua and 22.6 from Amari Cooper.  His peripherals combined for 10.5 points and Adams was shut down by the Saints.  The Raiders were so bad I wondered if the Saints staff replaced their Gatorade with Hurricanes out there.  Yikes.

JD (6-2) 103.3 vs. Mike (4-4) 93.8

Dizzle gets the W.  He was led by Kirk Cousins’ 3 touchdowns, CeeDee Lambs 16.3 and Khalil Herbert’s 15.9 ( I was right about him).  Mike put up a fight with 25.4 from Dak Prescott, but his next top scorer was D/ST with 13.  Josh Jacobs got caught up in that disaster of a game against the Saints and only put up 6.4 fantasy points despite averaging 34.6 fantasy points per game in the 3 weeks prior.   Ouch.

Tommy (7-1) 152.5 vs. Scotty (2-6) 134.2

Shootout!  Tommy gets the W after a monster game from Derrick Henry (40.3) and Tyreek Hill (28.5).  Scotty hung in there with the miraculous catch at the end of the game for DJ Moore (29.5) on a beautifully thrown ball by PJ Walker.  Scotty’s Lions Goff and Williams both got 21.1 points.  And Mike Evans added 18.3 due to his 100 yard receiving day.  In the end it wasn’t enough as every started for Tommy scored a touchdown except for Tyreek and his kicker.  Fournette, Metcalf, Kittle, Auyik, and even Dallas D/ST all got a touchdown this week.  Too much for Scotty.

Trey (2-6) 107.8 vs. Katon (1-7) 106.6

In the Battle of the Bad Trey harrowingly escapes the Katon trap.  He was eld by Travis Etienne Jr. who set a career high in rushing yards with 156 against a decent Denver defense.  He has back to back 100 yard rushing games after the James Robinson trade and is clawing his way back to prove he wasn’t a draft day bust.  Trey also got 21.7 from Lamar Jackson and 13.8 from Miles Sanders.  35.9% of Katons’ points came from Alvin Kamara.  Kamara scored 3 touchdowns against the Raiders in a blowout win.   He also got a solid 22.8 from Stegon Diggs.  Unfortunately 6/9 starters scored in single digits and he loses by 1.2 or Derek Carr’s interception.

Jen (3-5) 111.0 vs. Mustafa (6-2) 146.5

Jen had a new look team, but Moose’s looked just like it did before bye weeks.  He picked up right where he left off scoring 146.5 points on his way to a dominant win.  Jen was disappointed her newly acquired Qb only put up 9 fantasy points, but she should be pleased that Aaron Jones put up 20.7 fantasy points in a tough matchup against Buffalo.  She got a solid 16.6 from Terry McLaurin and 16 from Tyler Allgeier.  Moose had AJ Brown go off for 6 receptions, 156 yards, and 3 touchdowns (39.6).  According to James Palmer from the NFL Network Lane Johnson was asked how they were able to keep their foot on the gas coming out of the bye and his response was “Just throw that Mother F**ker to number 11.”  Moose had 7/9 starters score in double digits.

Week 9 Preview:

Tommy (7-1) vs. Mustafa (5-2)

HUGE Game.  Tommy is #1 of D1 and Moose is #1 of D3.  A 1st Round Bye in the playoffs could realistically be at stake.  Tommy will be without starting tight end George Kittle and flex play #24 Rb Kareem Hunt. Moose will be without #3 Rb Saquon Barkley.  Tommy has #2 Qb Joe Burrow vs. Carolina while Moose’s #1 Qb Josh Allen gets the division opponent Jets.  Tommy has #2 Rb Derrick Henry vs. KC on SNF and #9 Rb Lenny Fournette vs. LA Rams.  Moose has #15 Rb Dameon Pierce vs. Philly and #8 Rb Rhamondre Stevenson vs. Indy.  Tommy has #2 WR Tyreek Hill vs. Chicago.  Moose has #3 WR Cooper Kupp vs. Tampa Bay.  Kupp sprained his ankle at the end of the game last week and will be worth monitoring this week.  At the WR2 position these guys have two dogs on their team.  Physical Monsters.  Tommy with #24 DK Metcalf vs. Arizona.  A couple weeks ago DK underwhelmed against the Cardinals with only 2 catches for 34 yards, but he had solid 7 targets.  Moose has #7 WR AJ Brown vs. Houston on TNF.  Brown won’t be needed much in this game as it has blowout written all over it.  Moose should hope for enough value in the first half as there’s a chance he doesn’t play much in the second half.  Moose also has TE #7 Dallas Goedert for TNF.  Goedert only has 1 touchdown so far this season and he’s due.  Tommy will turn to #6 TE Tyler Conklin at Tight End in relief of Kittle.  Conklin is coming off of his best game of the season last week where he had 6 catches on 10 targets for 79 yards and 2 touchdowns.  I don’t see that happening against the Bills, but his target share and probability of the Jets playing from behind makes him a solid play this week.  The flexes of these two teams are pretty gross and not worth mentioning.  Will Tommy move to 8-1?  Or will Moose supplant Tommy as Team #1?

Brad (6-2) vs. Kenny (3-5)

Brad has been hit by a bye-maggedon setting this up to be a very close matchup.  Brad will be without #5 Rb Christian McCaffrey, #1 Rb Nick Chubb, and his starting tight end Greg Dulcich.  Kenny will be without WR #8 Amari Cooper.  Looking at Brad’s B squad he will have Qb#5 Jalen Hurts vs. Houston on TNF.  Michael Carter vs. Buffalo.  Isaiah Pacheco vs. Tennessee on SNF.  He does have his WR duo in WR #4 Jaylen Waddle vs. Chicago and WR #5 Justin Jefferson vs. Washington.  Kenny will be starting Qb #15 Tua in that Chicago game, so look for Kenny to be rooting for a big Tyreek Hill game and a quiet Waddle game.  Kenny is hoping to have D’Andre Swift back this week.  His coach said they rushed him back a bit too much last week, despite him only having 10 touches.  Devin Singletary is @ the Jets.  I don’t believe the acquisition of Hines should impact Singletary too much.  It would impact Moss (now a Colt) and Cook’s roles more.  Kenny needs #9 WR Davante Adams to play to his potential, he’ll have a chance versus Jacksonville’s defense.  Kenny has MVS in his flex spot.  Prior to the Chiefs bye MVS had his best game as a Chief with 3 catches, 111 yards and 15.6 fantasy points.  Should be a great game!

Joe (3-5) vs. JD (6-2)

Rivalry game!  Despite this large gap in wins and losses against these two teams JD has only scored 20.7 more points than Joe on the season.  Joe has had 73.7 more points scored against.  Both teams have been impacted by byes this week.  Joe won’t have #11 Rb Tony Pollard or #25 WR Jerry Jeudy or #5 D/ST San Fran.  JD won’t have #13 Wr CeeDee Lamb or Diontae Johnson or #3 Kicker Graham Gano.  With JD in the thick of a playoff hunt and points for mattering this game won’t be a kicker bowl.  Let’s see who they do have.  Joe has #7 Qb Geno Smith facing the Cardinals again.   He underwhelmed in their first meeting this season with only 197 yards passing and no touchdowns for 12.6 fantasy points.  Most of those came from his 48 yards rushing.  JD has Qb #4 Patrick Mahomes vs. Tennessee.  Tennessee was struggling against the pass to start the season giving up 2+ passing touchdowns in every game Weeks 1-5.  But after the bye week they’ve only given up a total of 2 passing touchdowns in the two games.  Has their defense improved that much?  Or is it because they faced Indy and Houston?  We’ll find out this weekend.  Joe has Rb#22 CEH in that SNF game.  Clyde has been efficient with scoring fantasy points, but his issue is volume given Chiefs RBBC.  The real situation this week is #4 Austin Ekeler going up against the Falcons.  D’Onta Foreman just ran all over them to the tune of 118 rushing yards and 3 rushing touchdowns.  With the injuries at WR I can see Ekeler’s workload being higher than normal, making this a very favorable situation to JD in this matchup.  JD also has #23 Rb Raheem Mostert versus the Bears who were just torched by Tony Pollard last week for 3 touchdowns.  The rest of the starting lineups are a hodge podge of nasty.  Joe is starting wideouts that were relevant 3 years ago in Adam Thielen and Robert Woods.  JD is at least going younger with Drake London and Rondale Moore.   In the Flex Joe is turning to some guy named Caleb Huntley.  Maybe.  Patterson might be activated this week.  Meanwhile JD really hopes to have Keenan Allen, but I don’t think they put him in there against the Falcons.

Jen (3-5) vs. Mike (4-4)

There are 5 teams with winning records that are charging ahead towards playoff berths.  Then there is the 7 remaining.  Right now Mike leads the 7 with a 4-4 record.  In comes Jen just 1 game back, but having scored 18.4 more points this season.  Jen will have #9 Qb Daniel Jones out on bye Mike will be without Dak Prescott, Dalton Schultz, and Najee Harris.  Harris being out might actually help Mike’s chances this week.  Jen will have rookie phenom RB #21 Ken Walker III vs. Arizona.  A couple weeks ago Walker ran 21 times for 97 yards and a touchdown against the Cardinals for 18 fantasy points.  Look for him to continue this success.  She’ll also deploy #7 Rb Aaron Jones vs. Detroit.  Mike will have #6 Rb Josh Jacobs who like the rest of the Raiders are hoping for a bounce back game after getting blanked by the Saints last week.  Even Mike’s wonderful kicker Daniel Carlson got 0 last week.  Mike will have to lean on Wr #20 Tee Higgins and Target Vaccum Chris Godwin against the Rams.  A few years ago I sat Chris Godwin because he was questionable against the Rams and then he went off for 12 receptions on 14 targets 172 yards and 2 touchdowns.  So now I always start Godwin when he plays the Rams.  I don’t expect that type of production since the Bucs have looked like garbage lately, but Godwin has 36 targets the last 3 weeks.  Jen will have #19 WR Terry McLaurin against the Vikings and it looks like she will go for the stack with Taylor Heinicke to replace Danny Dimes.  Should be a really good matchup between these two.

Trey (2-6) vs. Chase (5-3)

Another game that looks closer in the details than when you look at record.  A lot of primetime game players in this matchup.  Trey has #18 Rb Miles Sanders against Houston TNF.  Eagles are heavily favored, but they might be so favored that Boston Scott gets a bunch of work in garbage time.  Let’s see if Sanders can get his in the first half.  On Sunday Night Football Chase takes over with #1 Tight End Travis Kelce and JuJu Smith-Schuster.  JuJu owners couldn’t have been excited about the Chiefs adding Kadarious Toney, who appears to be suddenly healthy all of a sudden.  I wonder if Toney was getting bad advice from known cancer Kenny Golladay over there in New York.  Anywho.  Trey will have the last laugh this week with #3 Qb Lamar Jackson and #3 Tight End Taysom Hill.  I have no idea what to expect from Ravens vs. Saints this week, but should be fun to watch.  Who Dat!  Trey will be praying for JT’s ankle to allow him to play this week.  New England has been solid against the run, but a couple teams were able to run on them pretty well.  (GB and Chicago).  #17 Rb Travis Etienne Jr gets a Las Vegas team that just got destroyed by Alvin Kamara.  Smash spot for Etienne who is slowly making up for his draft position which started the season out as a bust.  On the other side Chase has #12 Rb Dalvin Cook who has looked a lot better.  In Weeks 1-4 he averaged 10.3 fantasy points per game.  In his past 3 games he’s averaged 22.5 fantasy points per game.  He faces an average Washington defense this week.  Chase also has D’Onta Foreman.  Since CMC was traded Foreman has rushed for 118 yards in both games.  But last week he added 3 rushing touchdowns.  We’ll have to see if Chuba Hubbard plays this week as that could eat into Foreman’s touchdown potential, but if Hubbard is inactive then Foreman could be in for another huge game.  The Bengals just gave up a 100 yard game to Nick Chubb last week.  At Wideout Trey has Allen Lazard against Detroit and #12 Wr Tyler Lockett vs. the Cardinals.  He stunk it up last time they played.  Chase has the Sun God Lion King Amon-Ra St. Brown against Green Bay.  Where do Hockensen’s targets go?  He’ll also have DeAndre Hopkins who is averaging 24.6 points per game in his two games back from suspension.  For perspective, #1 Wr Stefon Diggs averages 23.3 per game and #3 Wr Cooper Kupp averages 22 per game.   Best of luck gentlemen.

Scotty (2-6) vs. Katon (1-7)

I seriously doubt either of these two read this weekly write up.  Couple things to mention.  Scotty has Herbert vs. Atlanta, Mixon vs. Carolina and newly traded TJ Hockenson against Washington.  DJ Moore has been on fire since the trades of Robbie Anderson and CMC.  He has 21 targets in the last two weeks.  Last game he caught a beautiful hail mary at the end of the game for a 60+ yard touchdown.  PJ Walker slung it and it was awesome.  On Katon’s side Alvin Kamara is looking great.  He has serviceable starters with Diggs, Kirk, and Smith.  Even Evan Engram has been looking good for the Jaguars.  Despite Katon’s record, he isn’t giving wins away this year.  People have to outscore him and earn it.

Thanks for reading and good luck!

BBY Dream Team League Season 14: Week 7 Recap & Week 8 Preview

Week 7 Recap:

Katon (1-6) 104.3 vs. Brad (5-2) 115.9

This was the second closest game of the week with Brad defeating Katon by a mere 11.6 points.  The big story was Brad picking up Danny Dimes a week prior anticipating Jalen Hurts’ bye week.  Daniel Jones did not disappoint.  31.7 fantasy points including 107 yards rushing and rushing touchdown.  Brad also got 24.1 from Aaron Jones who caught a beautiful touchdown pass from Aaron Rodgers late in the game.  Chubb was Chubb with 17.7.  Brad’s Sutton (3.8) and Waddle (10.8) disappointed from the WR position and CMC played limited snaps, scoring 7.2 in his inaugural game as a 49er.  Katon had 6 players score at least 12 points, but nobody scored more than Zeke Elliot with 17.7.  Zeke was looking good against Detroit with 2 rushing touchdowns, but he got hit really hard on his knee, limiting his snaps in the second half.  Seems like the knee is fine, but something to monitor because it looks like it hurt.  David Montgomery got 12.2 points for Katon.  Worth noting that Khalil Herbert has looked better than Montgomery several weeks in a row and the snap % could move towards Herbert’s favor if this trend continues as I predicted in the preseason draft grades.

Jen (3-4) 123.5 vs. Trey (1-6)  86.5

Jen gets the win, but at what cost.  Rookie phenom, Breece Hall, unfortunately tore his ACL in this matchup.  He had 15.2 points for Jen before he exited with the injury.  He was on pace for offensive rookie of year and looked every bit like the hype he got in the preseason.  Tough loss.  Jen’s other rookie Rb Kenneth Walker looked amazing again.  The Chris Carson but better Clone rushed for 168 yards and 2 touchdowns for 33.8 fantasy points.  Olave got back in the lineup and got 17.1 points with 7 catches for 106 yards.  Terry McLaurin had his 2nd best game of the season with 5 catches for 73 yards and a touchdown in Taylor Heinicke’s first start in 2022.  Rookie Rb Tyler Allgeier got a touchdown as well.  Trey’s team disappointed.  JT only got 12.0 fantasy points as the Colts fell behind earlier in a low scoring game.  Lamar Jackson had his 4th game in a row scoring 16.1 points or less and Kyle Pitts continues to be the bust of the year, scoring a pathetic 2.4 fantasy points with 3 catches for only 9 yards.  Trey’s only solace was Travis Etienne having his best game as a pro with 14 rushes for 114 yards a touchdown.  Of course it looks as though Etienne has showed up too late for Trey to make a run this season.

Kenny (3-4) 85.1 vs. Tommy (6-1) 115.0

Tommy continued to take names and kick ass with the en fuego arm of Joe Burrow.  Joe threw for 481 yards and 3 touchdowns against the Falcan’ts and rushed for another touchdown.  44.2 fantasy points was 51.9% of Kenny’s total output this week!  Jeeze Joe!  Tommy got a solid 18.3 from Derrick Henry.  George Kittle had his best game of the year so far with 6 catches for 98 yards and a touchdown against KC.  (18.8 points).  Tommy did lose DK Metcalf to a knee injury, but it appears to not be too serious despite it knocking him out of the game for Tommy.  On Kenny’s side he got 18.1 from Mike Williams before he too was knocked out of the game with an injury.  Preliminary reports say he will be out for few games.  Kenny had 4 players score 5.4 or less and couldn’t keep up with Tommy this week, losing by 29.9.

Mike (4-3)  104.3 vs. Moose (5-2) 94.3

Mike did it!  Last week I said he had a chance due to bye weeks and matchups, but that he would have to earn it.  Earn it he did scoring 104.3 points and winning by 10 points, the closest matchup of the week.  The main reason Mike won was Josh MFing Jacobs who ran for 143 yards and 3 touchdowns against the Texans.  Earlier I said I was right about Khalil Herbert, but I was dead wrong about Josh Jacobs.  Apparently contract years do still matter in the NFL and in Fantasy Football.  I stand corrected Jacobs.  Now stop crushing everyone.  Nobody else on Mike’s team scored more than 12.2.  If targets counted for anything Mike would have scored more considering Godwin had 13 targets against the Panthers.  Moose filled his holes well this week, but just got beat by Jacob’s monster performance.  He outscored Mike at Qb, RB1, WR2, and Flex, but it wasn’t enough.  Barkley got his with 18.5 and Stevenson still owned the NE backfield despite Damien Harris coming back with 19.8 fantasy points including 8 catches on 8 targets for 59 receiving yards.  It looks like he owns both the Legarrete Blount role and the James White role in the offense, which makes him scary.  Mike moves to 4-3 and wins his 3rd in a row.

Chase (4-3) 89.3 vs. JD (5-2) 134.5

JD blows out Chase.  Chase was on high heading into this week after defeating Moose, getting DeAndre Hopkins back from suspension after the Maquise Brown injury, Gus Edwards being activated, and Amon-Ra St. Brown coming back from his injury.  All was looking up for Chase.  Until it went down really quickly.  Amon-Ra St. Brown exited the game with a concussion after only catching 1 ball for 4 yards.  AJ Dillon only rushed the ball 4 times for 15 yards.  Jared Goff threw for 228 yards, 2 interceptions, and 0 touchdowns leading to a pathetic 1.4 fantasy points.  29 out of Chase’s 89.3 points came from his kicker and D/ST.  32.5% of his points.  JD went off with 31.8 from Patrick Mahomes to the tune of 423 yards and 3 passing touchdowns.  Austin Ekeler continued his ridiculous stretch of games scoring another 30.7 points, moving him to Running Back #1 on the season.  In the last 4 weeks Ekeler has scored games of 31.9, 36.9, 19.3, and 30.7 for an average of 29.7.  On Fire.  JD also got a nice 18.9 from Raheem Mostert who has secured his role as the starting RB on the Dolphins.  JD not only matched Chase, but beat his D/ST and Kicker combo with 31 points.  JD’s Qb and Rb1 positions outscored Chases Qb and Rb1 positions 62.5 to 2.9.  Insert drunk emoji here.

Scotty (2-5) 95.8 vs. Joe (3-4) 125.0

Joe is better than ESPN’s autodraft!  Congrats Joe!  The craziest part of Joe’s week is that he scored 125 points despite Mark Andrews only have 0.4 points on National Tight Ends Day no less.  You could tell he was hobbled by a knee injury and didn’t look quite like himself.  Weird to see him now get any catches in a game, but no matter, Joe got 32.0 from Ja’Marr Chase who torched the Falcan’ts.  He got 21.3 out of spot starter Eno Benjamin and had 7/9 players score in double digits.  Scotty had decent outings from Herbert (17.5), Mixon (16.6) and DJ Moore (16.1), but he couldn’t match Joe’s explosion from Chase and Benjamin.  Deebo tweaked his hammy as well this week, something to monitor for Scotty moving into Week 8.

***TRADE ALERT***

Brad (5-2) trades #10 RB Aaron Jones, #9 Qb Daniel Jones, and #22 WR Gabe Davis to Jen (3-4) for #5 WR Justin Jefferson and #10 TE Hayden Hurst.

Trade Reaction:  Moose called it a “good trade”.  Brad gets a #1 WR.  Jen had lost Qb Matt Ryan, #6 Rb Breece Hall, so she gets their replacements in exchange for her best player.  Brad gets a tight end to replace the injured David Njoku.

Overall: B.  Helps both teams.  Brad sacrifices depth and flex for WR1 spot.  Jen sacrifices WR1 spot for a complete lineup.  Should help both teams.

Week 8 Preview:

Brad (5-2) vs. Joe (3-4)

Brad trades 3 players that have started for him in order to acquire #5 Wr Justin Jefferson, setting up the Jefferson versus Ja’Marr Chase game this week.  Jefferson hasn’t scored a touchdown since Week 1 and faces Arizona, as opposed to Joe’s #4 Wr Ja’Marr Chase who has scored 4 touchdowns in just the last two weeks.  Chase gets Cleveland on Monday Night Football.  In 2 games last season Chase was pretty quiet with games of 6-49-0 and 2-26-0.  Cleveland’s secondary has been terrible recently, so let’s see if he turns that around this season.  At Qb Brad has #5 Jalen Hurts vs. Pittsburgh.  Joe has #7 Geno Mahomes, I mean Smith against the Giants.  Brad has San Francisco Running Back #5 Christian McCaffrey at the Los Angeles Rams.  CMC played the Rams two weeks ago while on the Panthers getting 13 carries for 69 yards (hehe) and 7 catches for 89 receiving yards (19.3 fantasy points).  Brad also has #2 Rb Nick Chubb against Cincinnati on MNF.  #7 WR Jaylen Waddle versus Detroit and newly acquired tight end Greg Dulcich in the London game on Sunday.  Joe has TE#2 Mark Andrews on TNF.  He looked hobbled last week with the knee injury and hasn’t practiced so far this week.  Hopefully he can give it ago versus the Bucs.  Joe’s #23 Rb Tony Pollard might be in line for an expanded workload as Zeke banged up his knee last week and has been limited in practice this week.  Something to monitor.

Kenny (3-4) vs. Chase (4-3)

Another good matchup features Kenny who is hoping to have D’Andre Swift back this week against Miami. Speaking of Miami Kenny has Tua as his starting Qb against the Lions.  He also has #6 WR. Davante Adams @ New Orleans, #12 Wr Amari Cooper against Cincy on MNF.  Chase has made a change at Qb after two pathetic weeks from Jared Goff.  Looks like he might turn to the gunslinger Sam Ehlinger against Washington.  Chase also has #16 Rb Dalvin Cook against Arizona, Wr #19 Michael Pittman Jr in the Washington matchup, DeAndre Hopkins @ Minnesota, and he’s hoping to have Amon-Ra St. Brown against Miami.  Banged up Lions will be the story in this matchup.

JD (5-2) vs. Mike (4-3)

Bit time matchup with two winning teams going head to head.  JD gets hit hard by bye weeks losing his studs Patrick Mahomes and Austin Ekeler.  JD will feature Kirk Cousins vs. Arizona, newly acquired Jets Rb James Robinson against New England.  NE got gashed pretty good by the Bears last week.  We’ll see if the Jets follow a similar gameplan.  Rb #24 Raheem Mostert gets a juicy matchup against Detroit.  Wr#19 CeeDee Lamb faces Chicago, Diontae Johnson gets Philly.  On Mike’s end he has Dak Prescott against Chicago, Najee Harris @ Philly, #4 Rb Josh Jacobs, who I was wrong about in my draft grades, against the Saints in the Dome.  Chris Godwin plays on TNF and is coming off of his 13 target game.  In the past 2 weeks he has had 25 targets.  Crazy.  WR#21 Tee Higgins will finish things off in this matchup on MNF.

Tommy (6-1) vs. Scotty (2-5)

Tommy’s team come scorching into this matchup against a hapless Scotty team.  Since Scotty’s Week 4 explosion of 190.6 points in the past 3 weeks he has combined for 235.2 points and has gone 0-3.  And now his starting Qb Justin Herbert is on bye this week, meaning he’ll have to turn to Tom Brady who has looked depressed and not his normal self lately.  Scotty will have to monitor the health of D’Andre Swift which could impact his Rb #13 Jamaal Williams and the health of WR #11 Deebo Samuel who is dealing with a hammy issue.  That sucks considering he has done very well against the Rams as I mentioned in the Week 4 Preview.  Scotty will need some Brady to Evans magic on TNF to have a chance against Tommy’s juggernaut of a team.  Tommy will have #3 Qb Joe MFing Burrow against it doesn’t matter.  (CLE on MNF).  #7 Rb Derrick MFing Henry against Houston in a smash spot.  #8 Leonard Fournette has looked weird the past couple of weeks and is losing snaps to Rachaad White.  #3 Wr Tyreek the Freak gets Detroit where he might just go over 200 yards receiving.  Tommy will have to monitor the health of DK Metcalf and Brandon Aiyuk and George Kittle might get bumps if Deebo misses this week, a double nut shot to Scotty’s chances if Deebo is inactive.  Double nut shot looks like the way this one will go, brace yourself Scotty.

Trey (1-6) vs. Katon (1-6)

Bottom Bowl Preview!!!  Trey has some players that he is starting.  Katon also has some players that are starting.  But some of them might not start.  Trey has Etienne with a larger workload now that they traded James Robinson away.  Rumors are swirling about the Eagles trying to trade for Alvin Kamara.  Would be nuts to do that and impact this game of Sanders vs. Kamara am I right?  Congrats on whichever of you gets your 2nd win of the season!

Jen (3-4) vs. Mustafa (5-2)

New team, who dis?  Jen enters a critical midyear matchup against Moose who has dropped 2 straight after a dominating 5-0 start.  Jen will feature newly acquired #9 Qb Daniel Jones in a great matchup against the Seattle Seahawks.  Rookie phenom Rb#18 Kenneth Walker faces the Giants.  Newly acquired #10 Rb Aaron Jones has a tough matchup against a well rested Buffalo Bills team on Sunday Night Football.  She has #14 Wr Chris Olave against the Raiders.  She’ll monitor to see if she gets James Conner back, giving her a potential 3 man punch at Rb.  Moose gets all his weapons back except for Michael Thomas probably.  He’ll have #1 Qb Josh Allen and his 31.4 point per game average against the Packers, #3 Rb Saquon Barkley against a beatable Seattle team.  Rookie phenom Rb#12 Dameon Pierce against Tennessee who did a decent job stopping JT last week.  #2 WR Cooper Kupp faces San Fran.  In Week 4 against SF Kupp had 14 catches on 19 targets for 122 yards receiving and 22.2 fantasy points.  19 targets is freaking nuts.  #18 WR AJ Brown is against a banged up Steelers secondary.  And #9 Rb Rhamondre Stevenson gest the Jets in a key divisional matchup.  Moose should be back to his 130+ point average and be really tough to beat this week.

Thanks for reading and good luck!

BBY Dream Team League S14: Week 6 Recap & Week 7 Preview

Week 6 Recap:

Mustafa (5-1) 115.7 vs. Chase (4-2) 134.9

“Down goes Frazier!”  “Do you believe in Miracles!” “Pigs can fly, hell has frozen over, the Saints are going to the Super Bowl!”  Chase’s team rises to the occasion and takes down the last undefeated team in Mustafa.  Moose had his normal solid efforts out of Josh Allen (29.2) and Saquon Barkley (17), he also got 23.1 from Rhamondre Stevenson.  Cooper Kupp had a quiet game for Cooper Kupp with 13.2 fantasy points only 7 catches for 80 yards.  AJ Brown got 15.2 including a touchdown.  And even Moose’s kicker showed out with Succop getting 14 going 4/4 for field goals for the Bucs.  Moose’s downfall came at Tight End with Dallas Geodert getting 3.2, Flex in Melvin Gordon getting 0.8, and Jax D/ST getting 0.  Those three players combing for 4 points was Moose’s downfall.  On Chase’s side he had a near complete effort from his team with the exception of JK Dobbins who was sat after experiencing knee tightness.  He finished with 1.5 points.  Everybody else scored in double digits.  Michael Pittman led the team with 22.9 fantasy points on a monster receiving day of 13 receptions and 134 yards.  Kelce was Kelce with 8 catches for 108 yards (18.2 points).  Looking at the Tight End, Flex and Defense positions Chase outscored Moose 41.4 to 4.  Chase won by 19.2.

Tommy (5-1) 133.5 vs. Brad (4-2) 83.2

Tommy celebrated his birthday and then celebrated kicking Brad’s ass.  Brad had his worst week of the season by far (previous low was 117.1).  6 Players scored in single digits and nobody eclipsed 20 fantasy points.  On Tommy’s side he was led by Joe Burrow who threw for exactly 300 yards and 4 touchdowns against our Saints for 35.5 fantasy points.  Tyreek Hill had 12 receptions and 177 yards receiving.  And for some reason Tommy started Brandon Auyik in the flex despite Auyik averaging a paltry 7.8 fantasy points per game heading into this week.  So naturally the piece of shit catches 8 balls on 11 targets for 83 yards and two touchdowns against me.  What a dick.  Good game Tommy.

Scotty (2-4) 67.0 vs. Jen (2-4) 92.7

A low scoring affair as Jen takes out Scotty.  Scotty just couldn’t get it going with bye weeks, injuries, and schedule all cultivating into his worst game of the year.  Tom Brady only got 13.6, Joe Mixon only got 14.8, and 5 out of 9 scored in single digits.  Scotty also lost Marquise Brown to a foot injury that might keep him out for quite some time.  Jen only got 4.5 from Zach Wilson this week, but her rookie running backs showed up in a big way.  Breece Hall got 22.1 and Kenneth Walker II got 18.  Brad called for optimism last week for Jen’s squad and her Rookie Duo showed us why this week.  Jen will also be hoping to get some pieces back in Week 7.

JD (4-2) 99.8 vs. Trey (1-5) 84.6

Trey was unable to win back to back games and drops to 1-5 on the season.  Trey smartly played Deon Jackson who got 23.1 fantasy points before exiting the Colts game with a quad injury.  Lamar Jackson got 16.1, Sanders got 13.7 and Allen Lazard got 15.6, but then Trey’s Wr2, TE, Flex, D/ST, and Kicker all combined for 16.1 total points.   JD was led by Mahomes 22.5 and Ekeler’s 19.3.  Nobody went nuts for JD, but he had a better week than Trey and got the W.

Joe (2-4) 104.8 vs. Katon (1-5) 105.8

Katon has done it!  His first win of the season!  He got 9 starters in there and and got the job done by 1 point!  Congratulations Katon!  Katon was led by Stefon Diggs 28.8 and he had a pair of Rb’s with solid production Kamara with 15.4 and Zeke with 15.1.  Joe on the other side had 56.8 out of his total 104.8 (54.2%) of his point come from Ja’Marr Chase and Mark Andrews.  Everybody else shit the bed.  Katon had Zeke, Joe had Pollard, Zeke outscored Pollard, Katon outscored Joe.

Mike (3-3) 83.5 vs. Kenny (3-3) 67.3

Mike gets to 3-3 by scoring the 4th least points this week, but playing the 2nd lowest scoring team this week.  His top scorer was NE D/ST with 17, his second highest scorer was his kicker Myers with 13.  Katon’s top scorer was Kyler Murray with 17.8.  Like I said in the preview this matchup was gross and I was right. Disgusting.

Week 7 Preview:

BYE-MA-GEDDON

Teams on Bye This Week: Buffalo Bills, Philly Eagles, LA Rams, Minnesota Vikings.  Some serious firepower missing.  This is where depth and management comes in big time.  The midweeks with byes.

Katon (1-5) vs. Brad (4-2)

Brad has talked a lot of shit to Katon this season in the write ups and now Katon gets to attempt revenge.  Brad is coming off of his first loss since Week 1 and his worst game of the year.  Katon is coming off of his first win and 2nd highest scoring week of the year.  Brad will be without his starting Qb, Wr2, D/ST and Kicker.  Katon will be without his starting WR #1 Stefon Diggs and WR #17 Devonta Smith.  Let’s focus on who they do have.  Katon has Derek Carr vs. Houston and Brad has Daniel Jones @ Jacksonville.  Brad picked up Jones last week thinking it would be a decent matchup.  That was before Matt Ryan went off to the tune of 389 yards and 3 passing touchdowns on the Jags in Week 6, making this move look better than it actually is.  Katon has Alvin Kamara against Arizona’s 10th ranked OPRK.  David Montgomery who might be losing touches to Khalil Herbert as I expected.  Zeke Elliot has a butter matchup against Detroit.  Cooks and WR #15 Christian Kirk will hold down WR spot for Katon. On Brad’s side he has #13 Aaron Jones with a decent matchup against Washington, #1 Rb Nick Chubb vs. Baltimore, and #4 Rb Christian McCaffrey against Tampa Bay.  There are rumors that CMC might be traded, so we’ll have to monitor to see if that happens and if it does happen, does he go somewhere that helps or hurts his fantasy value.  We shall see.  Brad will have to monitor Jaylen Waddle this week as he injured his shoulder at the end of his matchup in Week 6.  Brad is favored, but don’t sleep on Katon.  Or with him because you’ll definitely wind up pregnant.

Jen (2-4) vs. Trey (1-5)

Jen loses her top wideout, #3 WR Justin Jefferson and Trey loses his RB2, #9 Miles Sanders to bye weeks. Trey has a strong chance to have #1 Overall Pick Johnathan Taylor back this week, while Jen will rely on her rookie Rb Duo to carry her team.  Trey has a clear advantage at Qb as Jen’s #20 Qb Aaron Rodgers hasn’t gotten above 16.8 points this season while Trey’s #2 Lamar Jackson has games of 42.3 and 50.5 logged this season.  He has scored under 20 in 3 consecutive weeks, but it’s steadily increasing with a smash spot potential this week against a Cleveland secondary that couldn’t stop anybody last week.  The rest of the matchup is complete and utter garbage.  A hodge podge of near fantasy irrelevant players that shouldn’t be started and yet here we are.  Jen with Terry McLaurin, Corey Davis, Hayden Hurst, and Tyler Allgeier.  Trey with Allen Lazard, Tyler Lockett, and is that Taysom Hill in your flex spot?  Jesus.  If Olave plays I like Jen’s chances a bit better, but this matchup looks to be low scoring.

Kenny (3-3) vs. Tommy (5-1)

Kenny loses #24 Rb Devin Singletary to bye and Tommy gets #8 Rb Derrick Henry back from bye.  Kenny will get D’Andre Swift back just in time and turn his Tight End position to #11 TE Robert Tonyan.  He also gets Davante Adams back from bye.  Tommy will have Joe Burrow at home vs. Atlanta.  Atlanta shocked the world last week by shutting down the 49ers running offense and winning against a quality NFC opponent. Look for Burrow to expose the secondary much like Jimmy G did once they fully abandoned the run.  #5 Rb Leonard Fournette gets #26 OPRK Carolina.  Making this matchup seem that Kenny has a strong chance of dropping his 3rd game in a row.  Kenny might be able to pull the upset; however, if #12 WR Mike Williams is able to get it going against a horrific Seattle defense.  Smash spot for Williams, can he lead Kenny to victory?

Mike (3-3) vs. Mustafa (5-1)

Moose was hit hard with byes this week.  He’ll be without Qb#1 Josh Allen, WR#1 Cooper Kupp, WR#10 AJ Brown, and TE #6 Dallas Goedert.  At the same time, Mike gets healthier with Dak Prescott looking to return from his Week 1 thumb injury, just in time to play the horrific Detroit Lions defense.  Mike will also feature #7 Rb Josh Jacobs against Houston’s 32nd ranked OPRK, making him a chalk DFS play and a solid foundation for Mike’s chances to pull the upset.  #24 Wr Tee Higgins has a great matchup against Atlanta and Chris Godwin has a great chance to smash against Carolina.  One of the reasons Moose has the best team in the league this season is his depth.  His starting lineup this week will be competitive versus most of the league.  He has #11 Qb Trevor Lawrence against the Giants, #3 Rb Saquon Barkley vs. the Jaguars inconsistent defense, #11 Rb Rhamondre Stevenson vs. Chicago on MNF, Romeo Doubs @ Washington, Curtis Samuel vs. Green Bay, and let’s not forget #15 Rb Dameon Pierce vs. Las Vegas.  Mike has a chance due to matchups, but Moose isn’t just going to roll over and die this week.  Mike will have to earn it.

Chase (4-2) vs. JD (4-2)

Big Time Matchup Here.  Chase loses #10 Rb Dalvin Cook and Darrell Henderson to byes this week.  JD is at full strength.  Looking at Chase’s team it can be summarized as “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.”  When it comes to Wide Receiver position it is the best of times.  He gets the Sun God Amon-Ra St. Brown back from injury and bye week and he gets DeAndre Hopkins back from his 6 game suspension, while also having young stud #16 Michael Pittman Jr going up against Tennessee.  At Running back it’s the worst of times.  He has JK Dobbins who tweaked his knee, AJ Dillon who hasn’t cracked double digit fantasy points since Week 1, and then he loaded up on potential Rb’s to see if one of them might work out this week in Latavius Murray (Denver), D’Onta Foreman (Carolina), and Kyren Williams (LAR-bye).  The Broncos have already come out saying Melvin Gordon will start, but Murray could eat more touches if they go hot hand approach.  Foreman is a speculative pickup in case CMC gets traded, Chase would gain a starting Rb.  And Kyren Williams is getting hyped as someone the Rams might lean on down the stretch, possibly supplanting Henderson who Chase also has.  Chase is hoping to get something at Rb and to ride his trio of wideouts and his #1 Tight End Travis Kelce to victory.  JD has #4 Qb Patrick Mahomes @ San Fransisco, #2 Rb Austin Ekeler vs. Seattle’s 28th ranked OPRK.  Just a note here, Los Angeles has been cautious with Ekeler, wanting to make sure he stay healthy down the stretch.  He could smash this matchup, or he could have very limited touches if the Chargers don’t need him late in the game.  Raheem Mostert has taken over the Miami backfield and has a decent matchup against Pittsburgh who just gave up solid fantasy production to Leonard Fournette last week (19.1).  #18 Wr CeeDee Lamb gets Dak Prescott back and a juicy matchup against Detroit.  Diontae Johnson is @ Miami, and JD hopes to have Keenan Allen this week against Seattle.  Should be a great matchup and either team can win, but JD has clear advantage at Rb, while Chase has advantage at WR.

Scotty (2-4) vs. Joe (2-4)

What and the hell are yall doing?  Two worst losing streaks in the league matchup this week.  Joe has dropped 3 straight after being 2-1 and getting cocky.  Scotty has dropped two in a row after his 190 point explosion in Week 4.  In the two weeks since then he has scored 139.4 combined, averaging a pathetic 69.7 points per game.  Joe on the other hand has been more even scoring 110.3, 105.5, and 104.8 the last three weeks, but going up against teams that scored more points.  So Scotty is up and down, Joe is consistent, who wins?  Scotty has a Rb2 problem and a Wr1 problem.  He will have to start Jamaal Williams at Rb2 or go dumpster diving in Free Agent land.  Also he lost #8 WR Marquise Brown possibly for the season as he suffered a bad foot injury.  He gets #8 Qb Justin Herbert versus Seattle and TE #5 TJ Hockensen versus Dallas.  Of course Dallas did a great job stopping Dallas Goedert last week.  Joe will have Geno Smith in the LA Chargers game, CEH vs. San Fran, Eno Benjamin should get a second start, this time against the Saints on TNF.  Ja’Mar Chase gets Atlanta in a smash spot.  #2 Tight End Mark Andrews gets Cleveland.  I’m not sure if Scotty has given up on this season since it was autodrafted for him or if he is still willing to fight.  If he is willing to fight he might want to consider trading Deebo Samuel or Mike Evans for a Rb2 and Wr2 to better fill out his roster.  He could try to trade Brady or Herbert to a Qb-needy team.  But no 2-4 team is out of this thing yet.  There are a lot of ups and downs in fantasy football and the season is long.  Just last week Moose was unstoppable, unbeatable.  And yet he lost and has a chance to lose two in a row.  Mike’s team was destitute a couple weeks ago, but fortunes have smiled on him and he is back to 3-3 with a chance at 4-3 with a team looking better as it gets healthier.  Never give up, keep fighting, let’s go!

Thanks for reading and good luck!

BBY Dream Team League Season 14: Week 5 Recap & Week 6 Preview

Week 5 Recap:

Mustafa (5-0) 148.3 vs. Kenny (3-2) 117.1

Moose has dominated in his first 5 weeks and his team has gotten better.  Josh Allen’s 40 points led Moose who also got 27.4 from Cooper Kupp, 18.1 from Saquon Barkley, and 18.8 from rookie phenom Dameon Pierce.  Kenny had a decent week with 117.1, but decent weeks won’t compete with Moose’s ridiculous lineup.  Kenny got 30.9 from Davante Adams on MNF, 21.4 from Mike Williams, and 22.7 from Jeff Wilson.  But 5 players scored in single digits including four players that scored 6 or less.  Moose gets it done.

JD (3-2) 106.5 vs. Tommy (4-1) 149.5

Tommy bested JD this week and wind up being Top Scorer in the league.  Tommy was the only team that could’ve beaten Moose this week.  He got 30.9 from Leonard Fournette and 29.2 from Derrick Henry.  JD got 36.9 from Austin Ekeler and 30.4 from Patrick Mahomes, but a big difference maker in this matchup was Defense selection.  JD got -1 from Miami D/ST and Tommy got 24 from Dallas D/ST for a 25 point swing.  Tommy also outscored JD in the flex with Kareem Hunt’s 13.2 to JD’s Garret Wilson who only got 4.2.  Even if JD had started Mostert he would have fallen short.  Tommy for the win.

Chase (3-2) 95.8 vs. Katon (0-5) 88.9

Finally Katon set his full lineup!….oh wait.  Nevermind he started Logan Thomas who was inactive prior to the kickoff.  I know this because I had Logan Thomas in another league and dropped him for Cade Otton.  I won that matchup by less than 1 point.  If Katon had started Montgomery or Devonta Smith or picked up a tight end (Evan Engram or Cade Otton anyway) then he would have come out ahead in this one.  That’s a lot of if’s though.  Chase was looking defeat in the eyes heading into Monday Night Football, but Travis Kelce caught 7 balls for 25 yards and 4 Touchdowns to secure the victory.  He also had a nice game from Dalvin Cook with 25.1.  Those two players accounted for 55.1/95.8 points or 57.5% of his total point output.  The other 7 players were all in single digits including 4 players that scored less than 6 points.  Chase squeezes one out and drops Katon to 0-5.

Joe (2-3) 105.5 vs. Trey (1-4) 134.6

Congratulations to Trey who got his first win of the season this week!  With no JT as well, very good job.  The main reason Trey won was because of Taysom Hill’s ridiculous game against the Seahawks.  He carried the Saints on his back to the tune of 9 rushes, 112 rushing yards, 3 rushing touchdowns, and a passing touchdown.  Hill outscored Joe’s Mark Andrews by 20.1 points.  Trey won by 29.1 points.  Joe’s team disappointed with his Qb, Rb1, Wr1, Wr2, and Flex all scoring in single digits.  He broke 100 thanks in large part to his peripherals as Andrews got 18.9, SF D/ST got 19, and Justin Tucker got 16.  53.9 from your peripherals is pretty damn good.  Your perhipherals accounting for 51.1% of your total point output is not. Congrats again Trey!

Mike (2-3) 115.0 vs. Scotty (2-3) 72.4

Speaking of bad teams that got wins last week, Mike Grote got the W!  Mike got 24.7 from Carson Wentz, 30.8 from Josh Jacobs who I was wrong about in my draft grades, by a lot.  He also got 22 from NE D/ST.  Mike even overcame Tee Higgins getting 0 fantasy points after he aggravated his ankle, which resulted in him playing only 10 snaps.  I’m going to compare two players points scored through five weeks, let me know which player you would rather on your fantasy team:

Player A: 9.6, 11.4, 11.6, 7.4, 5.1, Total= 45.1 Points

Player B: 9.0, 13.0, 10.0, 13.0, 16.0, Total= 61.0 Points

Which would you choose?  Well luckily Mike doesn’t have to choose, because they are both on his team.  Player A is Mike’s first round pick Najee Harris.  Player B is Mike’s #1 Kicker Daniel Carlson.  I may have been wrong about Jacobs, but I’ve been right about Najee so far.  Scotty got 17.8 from Marquise Brown, but that was his top scorer.  He had several players score right around 10 points, but he had 4 players J Williams (5.6), TJ Hockenson (1.1), Pit D/ST (3.0), and Koo (0.0) combine for 9.7 points.  Scotty’s worst game of the season and surely a disappointment after his 190 point explosion last week.

Jen (1-4) 94.5 vs. Brad (4-1) 132.3

Brad gets his 4th win of the season in Week 5.  This is already 1 more win than the 2021 Regular Season where Brad finished 3-11.  He was led by Jalen Hurts 27.5, Nick Chubb’s 28.4, and Christian McCaffrey’s 19.9.  Jen had a big day from Justin Jefferson who had 12 catches for 154 yards, but everybody else scored 15 or less.  Olave caught a touchdown, but sacrificed his body for it and wind up being ruled out for a concussion.  Then on Monday Night Football Jen was down by a little less than 40 points with Darren Waller to play, but he hurt his hamstring in the first half of the Chiefs game and wind up scoring 0 for Jen.  Despite poor performances from James Conner (6.8) and Antonio Gipson (5.4) Jen has some reason for optimism, which I will talk about in the Week 6 Preview.

Let’s see how this looks 5 weeks from now!

Week 6 Preview:

***RIVALRY GAME***

Moose (5-0) vs. Chase (3-2)

7 Championships won out of 13 Seasons of the BBY Dream Team League represented in this matchup. Moose with 4, Chase with 3, including last season.  Moose comes in averaging 149.8 points per game compared to Chase’s 105.9 per game.  The insane thing about Moose’s complete and utter dominance of this league to date is that his team has actually gotten better over the past couple of weeks due to various injuries across the NFL.  Moose has #14 Rb Rhamondre Stevenson who has Top 5 Rb potential over the next couple of weeks due to an injury to Damien Harris.  He has Melvin Gordon III who is starting due to the season ending injury to Javonte Williams.  One might not even notice that his Rb2, #9 Rb Dameon Pierce is on bye this week.  Moose will have #1 Qb Josh Allen in the ultimate revenge game in Kansas City, where the nightmare of a coin toss in last years playoffs have him out for blood.  @2 Rb Saquon Barkley leads the 4-1 Giants against the Baltimore Ravens.  #1 WR Cooper Kupp faces Carolina.  WR#13 AJ Brown and TE#5 Dallas Goedert face Dallas’s reall solid defense on Sunday Night Football.  Don’t overlook Moose’s #7 D/ST Jacksonville going up against the Garbage Fire that is the Indianapolis Colts who are surprisingly 2-2-1 on the season.  Moose will have his choice in the flex between Michael Thomas if available, Melvin Gordon III, or WR #22 Curtis Samuel.  On Chase’s side he will be without stud WR #11 Amon-Ra St. Brown and Qb #10 Jared Goff.  He’ll have to turn to Qb #13 Kirk Cousins  against a decent Miami defense.  He has #14 Rb Dalvin Cook in the same game.  JK Dobbins is @ NY Giants.  Michael Pittman Jr. is against the Jaquars.  He’ll have JuJu Smith-Schuster and TE#1 Travis Kelce on the wrong side of the Buffalo matchup and AJ Dillon against the Jets.  I don’t see Chase competing with Moose this week, he is just too powerful at this moment in the season.

Tommy (4-1) vs. Brad (4-1)

Tommy graciously hosted Brad for the draft and I’m very appreciative of that.  Now both teams find themselves 4-1, both riding 4 game winning streaks and looking to get their 5th win of the season. Unfortunately for Tommy bye weeks have begun, meaning he won’t have his first round pick Rb#5 Derrick “King” Henry.  Brad is unscathed by bye weeks.  Tommy will have #9 Qb Joe Burrow in the New Orleans Super Dome.  Louisiana loves him and I’m sure he’ll put on a show considering the Saints just got sliced and diced by Geno *checks notes* Smith in Week 5.  #7 Rb Leonard Fournette travels to Pittsburgh where Tommy will have TB D/ST as a stack against rookie-led Kenny Pickett.  Pickett was sacked 3 times last week against the Bills and threw one interception.  I expect more of the same.  Tommy has #5 WR Tyreek Hill against Minnesota.  This could be a battle of the Dolphins wideouts since Brad has #7 WR Jaylen Waddle, but Brad might choose to go with #20 WR Gabe Davis in a shootout in Kansas City considering some guy named Skylar Thompson might be the starting Qb for the Dolphins this week with Tua and Teddy Bridgewater both trying to get cleared from concussions.  If one or both of those Qbs get cleared then Brad will have to make a decision.  Tommy has the other Browns Rb in #21 Rb Kareem Hunt against a New England defense that has given up decent points to pass catching backs this season.  Tommy also has #17 Wr DK Metcalf matched up against a beatable Cardinals secondary.  Brad has #3 Jalen Hurts in a critical matchup against division rival Dallas Cowboys on Sunday Night Football.  The Eagles offensive line is Hurt, so look for Hurts to be running away from Micah Parsons all night.  Brad has his trio of Rbs for this matchup with #1 Nick Chubb against NE who shut down Jamaal Williams last week, #12 Rb Aaron Jones against an underrated Jets Defense, and #6 Rb Christian McCaffrey against the Rams in Los Angeles.  He’s been a model of consistency for Brad regardless of opponent with games of 13.7, 17.8, 15.5, 21.3, and 19.9.  Let’s see if a Qb and head coach change influences CMCs production moving forward.  Brad is hoping to have a shot heading into Monday Night Football where he’ll have #15 WR Courtland Sutton @ LA Chargers.

Scotty (2-3) vs. Jen (1-4)

Both teams coming off of underwhelming losses, but one of these teams has a reason to be optimistic.  Jen will have a pair of talented rookies to deploy at RB with #10 Rb Breece Hall and new starter Kenneth Walker III who takes over the Seattle backfield due to the season-ending injury to Rashaad Penny.  We’ll have to wait to see if Jen has James Conner in the matchup @ Seattle as he injured his ribs against the Eagles.  They’ve called up a couple Rbs from the practice squad which isn’t a good sign.  We’ll learn more as the week progresses.  Jen will also be monitoring Chris Olave who is in the concussion protocol.  Given Tua’s situation I doubt any player currently in the protocol is going to be rushed back due to optics.  Both the NFL’s and the players ability to see because of their brain injury.  Scotty will have Tom Brady @ Pittsburgh.  Rb #20 Joe Mixon against our Saints, Wr#10 Deebo Samuel in a smash spot against Atlanta, #6 Wr Marquise Brown @ Seattle and #19 Wr Mike Evans in the Pittsburgh matchup.  Scotty looks to be favored due to Jen’s injur concerns.

JD (3-2) vs. Trey (1-4)

Can Trey do the unthinkable?!  Can he win two games in a row?  JD comes in 0-2 in non-division games after getting blown out by Scotty in Week 4 (190.6 to 114.7) and Tommy in Week 5 (149.5-106.5).  Trey will have #2 Qb Lamar Jackson @NY Giants who did a good job containing Aaron Rodgers in London last week.  He’ll have #13 Rb Miles Sanders in that Dallas game on SNF.  Travis Etienne got things going last week with his first double digit fantasy game of the season 12.9.  He’ll look to continue that against a terrible Colts team.  Trey looks like he’ll roll with Terrific Taysom again this week. Taysom Hill is Tight End #3 after that 39 point explosion last week.  Also don’t sleep on Trey’s Wr#9 Tyler Lockett.  JD will try to stop his losing streak with Qb#4 Patrick Mahomes with a herd of Buffalo running full speed into Kansas City this weekend.  #3 Rb Austin Ekeler is coming off of back to back 30+ point performances but will face off against #9 OPRK Denver Broncos on Monday Night Football.  The Broncos should be well rested since their last game was on Thursday 10/6.  Raheem Mostert has all but locked up the Rb 1 duties for the Miami Dolphins. He’ll be relied upon heavily if the Dolphins are without Tue and Teddy and have to roll with Skylar Thompson at Qb this week.  JD will have WR # 21 CeeDee Lamb in that pivotal Eagles game on Sunday Night Football.  Should be a great matchup!

Joe (2-3) vs. Katon (0-5)

This bottom bowl preview has one team that is desperate for a win to try and stay in the playoff hunt and one team that may or may not know that I’m writing about them every week on these weekly write ups.  Hey Katon, if you are reading or listening to this let me know by typing in “I commit to starting 9 active players this week, I promise” into the Fantasy Group Chat.  And then actually do that please.  Joe will have Geno Smith vs. Arizona because there is no way in hell Joe would be stupid enough to start Russel Wilson again after that horrendous display on Thursday Night Football.  Joe will also start some running backs, but all of them are garbage and don’t deserve to be mentioned in this write up.  He’ll rely heavily on #18 Wr Ja’Marr Chase @ New Orleans and #2 TE Mark Andrews @ New York Giants.  Don’t sleep on Joe’s defense #1 SF D/ST against the flightless Atlanta Falcons.  Katon will have… damn Katon you’re still rolling with Matthew Stafford?  Gross.  Alvin Kamara in the Cincy game.  David Montgomery on Thursday Night Football with an over under set at a whopping 38.  Wr#2 Stefon Diggs is @ Kansas City in a potential smash spot.  Will Katon get his first win of the season?  Will Joe make it to .500?  Will Katon start 9 active players?

Mike (2-3) vs. Kenny (3-2)

Mike limps in after getting his second win of the season and Kenny limps in after getting crushed by Moose in Week 5.  Both have been bitten by the injury and bye week bug this week.  Mike will be without #4 Rb Josh Jacobs and #1 Kicker Daniel Carlson.  Kenny will be without Rb D’Andre Swift and WR#4 Davante Adams.  Let’s see who they do have for this matchup.  Oh God… this is so bad.  I’m sorry guys I have my limits.  I can’t preview this game.  The Rb’s are Najee Harris, Jerick McKinnon, Devin Singletary, and Jeff Wilson Jr.  (Insert throws up emoji).  The WR’s are #24 Tee Higgins and Chris Godwin vs. #8 Mike Williams and #12 Amari Cooper.  Flexes are Michael Gallup and Jacobi Meyers.  But hey both have Top 10 Tight Ends with Mike’s #9 Gerald Everett and Kenny’s #7 Tyler Higbee!  If either team scores in triple digits I’ll be genuinely surprised.

Thanks for reading and good luck!

BBY Dream Team League Season 14: Week 4 Recap & Week 5 Preview

Week 4 Recap:

Brad (3-1) 120.6 vs. Mike (1-3) 115.8

Mike put up his most points scored in a single game this season but fell just short to Brad by less than 5 points.  Worse than the loss of the weekly fantasy matchup was the loss of his second-round pick Javonte Williams for the season.  Mike got 35.0 points from Josh Jacobs and 26.9 from Tee Higgins.  These two combined for over half of Mike’s total point output.  Brad had a more evened effort from his team with his top scorer getting 22.7 (Nick Chubb) and 5 players getting 11+.

Tommy (3-1) 136.6 vs. Katon (0-4) 59.6

Katon started Kamara again.  This time it was the London game, so there is a little bit of an excuse.  But it doesn’t look like it would’ve mattered even if he did make a switch.  Tommy had 4 players score over 20 points including Burrow (20), Henry (25.2), Tyreek Hill (23.9), and DK Metcalf (21.4).  Any combination of 3 of those players would have been enough to beat Katon this week.  Tommy didn’t need the other 6.  Katon’s top scorer was his kicker with 17.0 points.  No one else scored in double digits.

Chase (2-2) 121.5 vs. Jen (1-3) 78.8

Things were looking good for Jen after the London game was over.  She was up on Chase by 21.3 points after getting 29.0 points from her first-round pick Justin Jefferson and 14.7 from Saints phenom rookie Chris Olave.  Chase had 22.4 combined from Kirk Cousins and Dalvin Cook.  But after the noon games kicked off it was all Chase the rest of the day.  He got 20.3 from JK Dobbins, 19 from Philly D/ST, 17.6 from Josh Reynolds, and 19.7 from Travis Kelce on SNF.  Jen had no other player score in double digits including 5 players score less than 5 points.

Joe (2-2) 110.3 vs. Mustafa (4-0) 146.2

Moose continues his ridiculous start to the season with another dominating win, this time over Joe.  Joe scored a respectable 110.3 after getting 26.9 from Russel Wilson, 21.9 from CEH, and 22 from SF D/ST on MNF.  Moose ended this game when Dameon Pierce ripped off a 75 yard touchdown run.  He had 4 players score over 20 and even got 34.7 from his peripherals.  Joe just didn’t have the firepower to hang with Moose this week.

Trey (0-4) 80.6 vs. Kenny (3-1) 115.0

Kenny had a pretty solid week from his players.  Most of them scored in double digits.  He had 6/9 score between 11.0 and 22.8 for a really even effort from his players.  Trey was carried by Miles Sanders who had 27 carries for 134 yards and 2 rushing touchdowns for a total of 31.6 against the Jaguars.  Unfortunately for Trey Lamar Jackson came back down to Earth for only 12.9 and he lost Johnathan Taylor to a high ankle sprain.  Normally you would never trade your studs, but at 0-4 and the prospect of JT missing a few weeks, Trey’s last chance might be to trade JT to a deep team for 3 starters.  We’ll see if he makes a move or takes JT with him to his grave.

JD (3-1) 114.7 vs. Scotty (2-2) 190.6

Controversy.  Betrayal.  Shame.  Impeachment.  There I was.  Commissioner of the Best Buy Dream Team League.  Drafting our 14th season.  All of a sudden.  A text!  It’s Scotty saying he can’t draft right now.  That he would need to autodraft.  I told him he had already autodrafted Deebo Samuel.  He said, “No.”  Then “Im at a multi million dollar business deal in Kansas City lol.  We are at dinner now.” And then   “I want Rb.”  Unfortunately, we were 4-5 picks away at that point.  And I couldn’t undo all those picks.  I had to tell him he was on autodraft.  Autodraft he did.  Until.  ESPN autodrafted his 3rd Qb before his 3rd Rb.  I drew the line.  I stepped in.  I interfered.  I undid the Qb pick and picked up the next Rb that was available for Scotty.  That Rb.  Was Jamaal Williams.  The same Jamaal Williams that has scored 6 touchdowns, is currently Fantasy Rb #3 and just put up 28.4 against JD.  Then after that ESPN still wind up drafting a third Qb for Scotty and I missed it.  Distracted by trying to fill out my own roster and pick my own late round fliers.  Luckily for me this week even if Jamaal Williams would have gotten 0 Scotty would have still kicked JD’s ass.  Scotty got 24.1 from Justin Herbert, 25.7 from Deebo Samuel, 29.3 from Mike Evans, and 38.9 from TJ “MFing” Hockensen.  JD finally had Austin Ekeler pop off for 31.9 and got his usual 23.2 from Patrick Mahomes.  But it wasn’t enough to keep up with the Scotty this week.   I look forward to the impeachment hearings to follow this admission.

Week 5 Preview:

Before we dive into the individual matchups I wanted to stop and point out how insane Moose’s team has been through 4 weeks.  He has put up 600.8 points in 4 weeks.  Averaging 150.2.  AVERAGING 150+.  His low was Week 2 with 134.6.  For perspective, two other players have scored in the 500s (Brad at 560.4 and Scotty at 514.5), six other players have scored in the 400s and four teams have scored in the 300s.  Katon is at 338.5 points scored, a whopping 262.5 points less than league-leading Mustafa.

And now to our normal preview:

RIVALRY GAME ALERT

JD (3-1) vs. Tommy (3-1)

Division 1 Leader Tommy vs. Division 2 Leader JD.  Post season preview?  JD was undefeated in divisional play but as soon as he left his division, he got smoked by Scotty’s 190+ point explosion.   Tommy is riding a 3 game winning streak including two games of scoring over 130 during that span.  Despite their even record Tommy has scored 44.5 points more than JD so far and has 108.1 less points scored against him.  Let’s break it down.  JD will have #4 Qb Patrick Mahomes against the Raiders on Monday Night Football.  Tommy will have #8 Qb Joe Burrow against the Ravens on Sunday Night Football.  Two Gunslingers on primetime games going up against each other.  Love to see it.  JD has #7 Rb Austin Ekeler, reminder he drafted at Ekeler at 3 overall over Cooper Kupp, against Cleveland.  Tommy has #6 Rb Derrick Henry, reminder he drafted Henry at 5 overall over Cooper Kupp, against Washington.  JD has #12 Rb James Robinson against Houston and Tommy has #15 Rb Leonard Fournette against Atlanta.  JD has #16 WR CeeDee Lamb going up against Jalen Ramsey and the Rams while Tommy has #3 WR Tyreek Hill against the Jets.  Tyreek was quoted this week saying he is a Dolphin and not a Jet because of income taxes.  Tommy’s kind of player.  This matchup could very well come down to Flex decisions.  So whatever you guys do, don’t mess that up or second guess yourselves or anything like that.  Great matchup this week.

Moose (4-0) vs. Kenny (3-1)

Kenny rides his 3 game winning streak into a wall this week.  This is like a guy on a paddle board who is making good time and then looks up and see a Tsunami about to slam into him.  That is what has been like facing Moose so far this season.  Moose has #2 Qb Josh Allen against a decent defense in Pittsburgh, #2 Rb Saquon Barkley @ Green Bay in London, #14 Rb Damon Pierce @ Jacksonville who just got wrecked by Miles Sanders last week, #10 WR AJ Brown against Arizona, #1 WR Cooper Kupp against it doesn’t fucking matter, and #21 Wr Curtis Samuel against Tennessee.  Kenny has #7 Qb Kyler Murray against Philly who shut down Trevor Lawrence last week, Devin Singletary against Pittsburgh, Jeff Wilson Jr. @ Carolina, #6 WR Davonte Adams @ KC on MNF, #17 WR Mike Williams @ Cleveland, and we’ll see who Kenny decides to play in the flex at a later time.  He’ll be deciding between #17 Rb Damien Harris against Detroit or #19 Wr Amari Cooper versus the LA Chargers.  Of course both of those are assuming that D’Andre Swift is a no-go this week against New England.  Can Kenny hang with Moose this week?  Can anyone?

Jen (1-3) vs. Brad (3-1)

Jen and Brad square off in Week 5 heading in two different directions. Jen has lost 3 in a row after starting 1-0 and Brad has won 3 in a row after starting 0-1.  Jen will be lead by #4 Fantasy WR Justin Jefferson against Chicago and #15 WR Chris Olave against Seattle.  She is hoping to get more out of Rb James Conner who faces Philly and Antonio Gibson who faces Tennessee.  Brian Robinson will be practicing this week and might play in that matchup a mere four weeks after being shot.  We’ll have to see if Robinson cuts into Gibson’s touches moving forward.  Brad will be leaning on #1 RB  Nick Chubb vs. an LA Chargers team who just gave up 27.9 to Dameon Pierce in Week 4.  Of course, most of Pierce’s points came from the 75 yard touchdown run (18.5), which gave him the big play bonus and over 100 yard bonus.  This game will kick off on Thursday Night Football with Jen having #12 Den D/ST in a juicy matchup against an inept Colts team and Brad will have #13 WR Courtland Sutton who might be matched up one on one with Stephon Gilmore.  Brad’s #5 Rb Christian McCaffrey has a tough matchup against San Fran.  Both Tight Ends will be key to this matchup.  Jen’s #12 TE Darren Waller faces KC.  In Darren Waller’s last healthy season 2020, he put up a touchdown in both contests against KC.  Brad’s #11 TE David Njoku faces off against the LA Chargers.  Apparently Njoku always plays well against the Chargers with stat lines of 2021: 7 catches on 7 targets for 149 yards and a touchdown, 2018: 7 catches on 12 targets for 55 yards and a touchdown, 2017: 4 catches on 6 targets for 74 yards and a touchdown.  Will his streak of touchdowns against the Chargers continue this week?

Joe (2-2) vs. Trey (0-4)

The big story line is obviously Trey being without Johnathan Taylor the first overall pick in this year’s draft.  Trey will have to turn to #8 Rb Miles Sanders and Travis Etienne JR.  This matchup will have players featured in all of the primetime games this week.  Joe having #12 Qb Russell Wilson and Jerry Jeudy on TNF against the Colts, Trey having Allen Lazard on the early Sunday morning London game against the Giants, Joe having #14 Wr Ja’Marr Chase and #2 TE Mark Andrews battling it out on Sunday Night Football against Trey’s #1 Qb Lamar Jackson.  This game will most likely come down to Monday Night Football where Joe will have #4 Rb Clyde Edwards-Helaire against the Las Vegas Raiders.  CEH has only run the ball 41 times so far this season, but has scored 5 touchdowns through 4 games.  For perspective Trey’s JT had 81 rushes through 4 weeks before getting injured.  Joe also has Tony Pollard as his Rb2.  Pollard has rushed the ball 36 times so far this season.  Leave it to Joe to find Running Backs that don’t actually run.  Enjoy the primetime games gentlemen.

Mike (1-3) vs. Scotty (2-2)

If Scotty was in any other division he could easily be 3-1.   Both teams are coming in after scoring their highest point total of the season in Week 4.  Mike lost Javonte Williams for the season to a torn ACL and will look to replace him with a couple of wideouts that returned from injury last week in Tampa Bay WR Chris Godwin and Dallas WR Michael Gallup.  Godwin has a favorable matchup against Atlanta and Michael Gallup will travel to Los Angeles to go up against the Rams.    Mike’s 1st pick Najee Harris is going to Buffalo and will have a rookie Qb under center.  That combined with the Steelers horrific offensive line can spell disaster (to Brad’s benefit with Bills D/ST).  #9 Josh Jacobs hopes to stay hot and earn a new contract in a big divisional game against the KC Chiefs.  The same Chiefs that just held Leonard Fournette to 3 rushes for -3 yards in Week 4.  (Fournette did have success catching the ball however, with 7 catches for 57 yards and a touchdown).  Mike will have #12 WR Tee Higgins on SNF against Scotty’s #19 Rb Joe Mixon. Scotty will also have #6 Qb Justin Herbert @ Cleveland who had given up big games to Baker Mayfield and Joe Flacco in Weeks 1 and 2 before shutting down Mitch Trubisky and Marcus Mariota in Weeks 3 and 4.  Herbert is better than all of those guys, so look for his normal production of 20+ with the potential for more.  Scotty will have #3 Rb Jamaal Williams…against a New England defense that hasn’t given up a rushing touchdown yet this year.  Scotty will also have his dynamic trio of wideouts in #11 Deebo Samuel @ Carolina, #18 Mike Evans vs. Atlanta, and #9 Marquise Brown against Philly.  Scotty looks heavily favored in this matchup.  Thanks Brad.

Chase (2-2) vs. Katon (0-4)

Chase gets his bye week this week, oh wait, that’s just Katon’s team, my bad.  Chase will have to wait and see if he gets his Sun God back this week in a big battle against New England.  Jared Goff is running point for Chase there and would love to have his top weapon back for that.  Chase has #24 Rb Dalvin Cook against a Chicago defense that got gashed by Aaron Jones in Week 2, Dameon Pierce in Week 3, and Saquon Barkley in Week 4.  Can Dalvin get things going?  Speaking of getting things going, JK Dobbins found the endzone twice against a tough Bills defense.  More importantly for Chase his touches increased from 9 in Week 3 to 17 in Week 4.  If that trend continues and he keeps finding the endzone then look out.  He has the Bengals this week on SNF.  Chase will have #1 Tight End Travis Kelce to fall back on if he needs it.   Kelce plays on MNF against the Raiders.  Katon is hoping to have Kamara against the Seattle Seahawks.  They gave up some big games this year including Jamaal Williams explosion last week.  Katon will have Matt Stafford against a decent Dallas defense.  And #2 Wr Stefon Diggs against Pittsburgh.  Katon usually drafts Kelce, so this could be a revenge game for Travis.  On the other side Chase is against Zeke.  I questioned Chase choosing JK Dobbins over Zeke during the draft, but this is why Chase has 3 titles and Brad only has 2 from a long ass time ago.  Zeke is averaging only 8.5 fantasy points per game through 4 weeks.  Can he pop off against Chase this week?  Sure, anything can happen.

Thanks for reading and good luck!

BBY Dream Team League Season 14: Week 3 Recap & Week 4 Preview

Week 3 Recap:

Division 1:

Chase (1-2) 77.2 vs. Joe (2-1) 111.6

After Chase exploded in Week 1 for 142.9 points his point total has diminished to 92.3 in Week 2 and now 77.2 in Week 3.  To put Week 3 mildly, it was disastrous for Chase.  Kirk Cousins has yet to crack 20 fantasy points in a game.   Dalvin Cook had his best game of the season with 13.6 fantasy points, but he lost a fumble and injured his shoulder knocking him out of the game.  JK Dobbins returned to action, but as expected the Ravens eased him back in with 9 touches.  Amon-Ra St. Brown’s 8-reception and touchdown streaks were ended and he rolled his ankle.  Even Chase’s kicker and defense had terrible days combining for -2 points.  Joe on the other hand was carried by #1 Tight End Mark Andrews’ 24.9.  Mark Andrews finished as Tight End #1 last year and has started as Tight End #1 through 3 games this season.  It was fitting that he faced off against Chase’s Travis Kelce and performed better, almost as if to signify the changing of the guard.  Joe got a touchdown from Adam Thielen who had his best game of the year so far with 15.1.  And Tony Pollard looked like the much better running back on the Cowboys after rushing for 105 yards on only 13 carries on Monday Night Football.  Joe moves to 2-1 and leads D1 after 3 weeks.

Tommy (2-1) 105.9 vs. Mike (1-2) 75.3

Very similar score in the other Division 1 game.  Tommy was carried to victory by Joe Burrow’s 23 and Derrick Henry’s 22.8, which accounted for 52.7% of Tommy’s point output and 74.1% of Mike’s point total.  Mike has had a rough season to start.  Najee Harris is barely a top 20 running back, Javonte Williams isn’t a top 20 running back.  It’s just bad right now.  His top scorer this week was Josh Jacobs with 12.2.  This is usually where I try to give someone hope and explain to them that anything can happen in fantasy, but whew!  Looking back at the draft recap it just hurts.  Mike took Javonte Williams over Barkley and Mark Andrews.  He drafted Darnell Mooney over Amon-Ra St. Brown in Round 5.  Has not had his Rounds 6, 7, and 8 players due to injury.  Anything can happen, but Mike looks like he’ll be facing an uphill battle for the rest of the season.

Division 2:

Kenny (2-1) 100.3 vs. Jen (1-2) 72.3

Pretty low scoring affair in this game.  Kenny’s top scorer was Amari Cooper on Thursday Night Football, who had 7 catches for 101 yards and a touchdown for 22.6 fantasy points.  His wideouts all scored touchdowns despite Adams only having 36 receiving yards and Mike Williams only catching one pass.  Jen’s team had a rough day as Justin Jefferson had his second bad game in a row and 6 out of 9 players scored in single digits.  It was good to see Terry McLaurin have his best game of the season so far with 16.2 points.

JD (3-0) 119.9 vs. Katon (0-3) 75.0

JD remains unbeaten after taking out Katon in Week 3.  JD scored his highest game of the season so far with 119.9.  It was a complete team effort with 6 out of 9 players scoring in double digits.  His high scorer has been one of the awesome stories of the season so far in #3 Rb James Robinson.  He had a 100 yards rushing and a touchdown for 24.1 fantasy points.  Katon lost David Montgomery to injury this week.  He had 3 players combine for 4.6 points.  Qb and Rb have been a bit of a problem for Katon which has overshadowed his awesome starts to the season for #1 WR Stefon Diggs and #6 Wr Christian Kirk.

Division 3:

Mustafa (3-0) 143.3 vs. Scotty (1-2) 104.3

Moose burned through Division 3 like a Dragon from Game of Thrones.  Moose starts the year scorching hot with games of 176.7, 134.6, and 143.3 for a point leader total of 454.6 and an average of 151.5.  Scotty got caught up in his wake this week and didn’t stand a chance.  Herbert played through his rib cartilage injury but didn’t look crisp in a blowout loss to the Jaguars.  Joe Mixon underwhelmed against the Jets and tweaked his ankle.  DJ Moore looks pretty bad to start the season and only got Scotty 2 points.  It was good to see Marquise “Hollywood” Brown have his best game of the season with 14 catches for 140 yards.  On Moose’s side he had 7 out of 9 players score in double digits and 5 players score at least 17.  For perspective Scotty had 2 players score at least 17.  In fact, the rest of the league only had 13 players score over 17.  So Moose had 5/18 of the players that scored 17 or more this week on his roster.  Dominant.

Trey (0-3) 107.4 vs. Brad (2-1) 114.9

Trey and Brad traded shots all game and ultimately it came down to Robbie Gould vs. Courtland Sutton on Sunday Night Football.  Gould hit a 50+ yard field goal in the 4th quarter, leading to Brad being up by 3.8.  A 40 yard field goal from Gould would have been enough to take the lead at that point.  But the fates were on Brad’s side as Sutton got a couple more catches and Gould’s night was done.  The other side of this story was the massive games from each of these teams’ quarterbacks.  Trey getting 42.3 from #1 Fantasy Qb Lamar Jackson and Brad getting 30.6 from #3 Fantasy Qb Jalen Hurts.  One of the difference makers for Brad was bonus points for 100 yard games.  Although Trey got 3 for Lamar Jackson’s 100+ yards rushing, Brad got 3 from Jalen Hurts’ 300 yard passing game, Chubb’s 100 yard rushing game, McCaffrey’s 100 yard rushing game, Waddle’s 100 yard receiving game.  And he almost got 3 more as Courtland Sutton finished with 97 yards receiving.  Overall Brad outscored Trey 12 to 3 on points from bonuses alone, which was the difference maker in a game decided by 7.5 points.

Week 4 Preview

Joe (2-1) vs. Mustafa (3-0)

This is the only matchup this week featuring two winning teams.  Joe is averaging 104.5 per game and Moose is averaging 151.5, so the records might not be the key factor heading into this matchup.  Moose’s team looks unbeatable through 3 weeks of the season.  It’s easy to see why.  Moose has #2 Qb Josh Allen in a potential shootout against Baltimore, #2 Rb Saquon Barkley against Chicago that made Dameon Pierce look solid, and #2 Wr Cooper Kupp @ San Fran that gave up 8 catches and 97 yards to Courtland Sutton last week.  Moose even has the #2 Kicker in Ryan Succop.  Crazy, #2 in every position except for defense.  He also has #7 Wr AJ Brown and #5 Tight End Dallas Goedert in another potential shootout against Jacksonville.  His bench is deep too.  We should feat this team.  Joe has Russel Wilson @ Las Vegas.  Wilson’s strength is throwing the ball deep, so maybe they can get this thing going against the Raiders 26thranked OPRK.  Joe will have #13 Ja’Mar Chase against Miami and Mark Andrews against Buffalo.  Moose is favored by 20 points according to ESPN.  Not sure if Joe has the fire power to hang with Moose’s Juggernaut.

JD (3-0) vs. Scotty (1-2)

Dizzle swept Division 2 and now branches out to the outside world.  JD has been solid and consistent to start this season with games of 106.1, 99.2, and 119.9.  He is 3-0; however, because of his points against being the lowest in the league at 259.4, an average of 86.5 per game.  This week he goes up against the team that has the most points scored against him in Scotty.  Scotty has had 445.7 points scored against him, an average of 148.6 and somehow despite, that he managed to get a win in division play.  For even more perspective on this gap.  In the past two weeks Scotty has had 351.1 points scored against him, which is 91.7 more points than JD has had scored against him in three weeks.  Jd has #4 Qb Patrick Mahomes going up against Tampa Bay on Sunday Night Football.  Not sure where or how that game will be played given the fact that Hurricane Ian is making landfall and projects to slam into Tampa Bay.  I pray for all the path to be safe and hope the area is able to recover in the long road ahead.  If any group can empathize with the Floridians, it’s the Louisiana people that have gone through multiple similar situations over the past decade or so.  JD has #3 Rb James Robinson @ 23rd OPRK Philly and #21 Rb Austin Ekeler vs. #32 OPRK Houston, who just got sliced and diced by Khalil Herbert last week.  Scotty has #18 Rb Joe Mixon against Miami on Thursday Night Football.  #8 Qb Justin Herbert will continue to play through that painful rib injury against Houston.  Houston has been stingy against opposing fantasy Qb’s, so we’ll see if the Chargers get a normal amount of passes or if they rely on the run more this week.  There is a chance this game will come down to Monday Night Football where Scotty would have Deebo Samuel against the LA Rams.  In 3 games against the Rams last season Deebo averaged a stat line of 4.33 catches, 88 yards receiving, .67 receiving touchdowns, and 6.67 rushes, 35.7 yards rushing, .67 rushing touchdowns.  Total Averages were 11 touches, 123.7 total yards, and 1.33 touchdowns.  Will Ekeler explode and lead JD to 4-0?  Or will Deebo pick up where he left off last season and get Scotty to 2-2?

Brad (2-1) vs. Mike (1-2)

Super Bowl 1 Rematch!  If you think Brad is feeling confident heading into Week 4 then you are mistaken.  Brad started out 2-1 last season.  What happened next?  Went 1-10 to close out the season.  Let’s see if Mike can start the losing streak for Brad again this season.  Brad will have #3 Fantasy Qb Jalen Hurts in a potential shootout with the Jacksonville Jaguars.  The Jaguars defense did a good job shutting down injured Justin Herbert, but we’ll see if they can shut down dual-threat Hurts.  Brad’s 3 headed monster at Rb consists of #1 Nick Chubb @ Atlanta, #8 CMC vs. Arizona, and #9 Aaron Jones vs. New England.  #3 Wr Jaylen Waddle faces the Bengals on Thursday Night Football.  Will have to monitor his status as he is dealing with a groin injury of sorts.  #18 Wr Courtland Sutton faces off against the Raiders in Las Vegas.  On Mike’s side he has #6 Qb Carson Wentz against Dallas’s stingy defense who is led by Micah Parsons.  He’ll have Najee Harris against the Jets and Javonte Williams vs. Las Vegas.  Tee Higgins looks to be featured in the Miami game on TNF.  He seems to have a toe issue, worth monitoring there.  ESPN has seemed to pick a winner in this one, projecting Brad the favorite by 26.8 points.  According to ESPN+ Brad has a 60% chance to win this week.  Maybe Mike can get Chris Godwin back to try for Sunday Night Football to increase his chances this week.

Tommy (2-1) vs. Katon (0-3)

This game has players in all the primetime games this week.  Tommy has #9 Qb Joe Burrow and #5 Wr Tyreek Hill on Thursday Night Football.  Katon has Alvin Kamara playing at 8:30am Central time in Jolly Ole’ London.  On Sunday Night Football Tommy has Leonard Fournette against Kansas City.  On Monday Night Football Tommy has George Kittle and Matt Gay against Katon’s Matt Stafford.  Tommy is definitely favored in this one, but big storylines to watch are Katon’s David Montgomery and his status against the Giants this week and whether or not Katon changes his strategy and starts 3 wideouts instead of 3 running backs since Wide Receiver seems to be a strength position for him.  Let’s see if Katon can get his first win of the season this week.

Chase (1-2) vs. Jen (1-2)

Two teams hoping to get to .500 this week and avoid the 1-3 hole.  Biggest game of the week for this matchup is definitely the London game featuring the Minnesota Vikings versus the New Orleans Saints.  Chase has Dalvin Cook and Alexander Mattison.  Cook left the game last week with a shoulder injury.  So we’ll see if he toughs it out and plays or if Mattison will get the start.  Chase is hoping for clarity as the worse case scenario is Cook playing and having limited snaps.  Chase also has Kirk Cousins against the stingy Saints Defense.  We’ll see if Chase makes a Qb move this week.  Jen will have Cousins’s #1 Wideout in #9 Justin Jefferson.  After Jefferson exploded in Week 1 for 37.9 fantasy points he underwhelmed with games of 7.8 and 2.9 after that.  Can he bounce back against Marcus Lattimore and the Saints defense?  Another injury to watch in this one is #4 Wr Amon-Ra St. Brown for Chase.  He tweaked his ankle last week, so we’ll see if he can go against Seattle in Week 4.  Hard to make a prediction in this matchup with so many variables up in the air.

Trey (0-3) vs. Kenny (2-1)

Trey has only scored 8.1 fewer points than Kenny so far this season.  But he found himself in Division 3, the highest scoring division by 313.7 points.  (Division 1 has scored 1218.3, Division 2 has scored 1201, Division 3 has scored 1532).  Shout out to Kenny and Chase for drafting divisions well.  They stuck some of the best teams against each other and out of their divisions.  Smart drafting by you two.  Trey has #1 Qb Lamar Jackson against Buffalo.  Jackson bet on himself this offseason and will be a free agent after this year.  For perspective on Jackson being the top scoring Qb in fantasy so far this season.  He is ranked #1.  If you took away all his rushing stats (he has rushed 26 times for 243 yards and 2 touchdowns) he would still be Fantasy Qb #5.  If you look at just his rushing stats he would currently be ranked as Rb #12.  So Trey’s Qb has been the equivalent of having the #5 Qb and the #12 Rb in fantasy in ONE Roster spot.  He also has #10 Rb Johnathan Taylor who faces Tennessee this week.  He did okay against Tennessee last season averaging 97 total yards and scoring a touchdown in one out of the two contests.  Tennessee’s Run Defense hasn’t looked as good as last year, but neither has JT so far.  We’ll see how he does this week.  For Kenny the big storyline is the loss of his #5 Rb D’Andre Swift.  He’ll have to lean on #25 Rb Devin Singletary @ Baltimore and Jeff Wilson Jr. against the Rams on MNF.  At Wr there is a big mismatch with Kenny having #10 Wr Davante Adams against Denver and #8 Wr Amari Cooper @ Atlanta.  Trey has Allen Robinson and Tyler Lockett or Allen Lazard as his Wr options.  As painful as it is for me to say it.  Trey might have an actual legit case to try and trade JT for 3 starters.  Getting a whole new team along with Lamar Jackson might make him more competitive.  In case anyone is wondering, this is my way of telling Trey to trade me Johnathan Taylor.  I’m not being subtle.

Thanks for reading and good luck!

BBY Dream Team League Season 14: Week 2 Recap and Week 3 Preview

Week 2 Recap:

Division 1:

Chase (1-1) 92.3 vs. Tommy (1-1) 134.8

Tommy wind up not having George Kittle, but he wind up not needing him.  Chase’s team simply did not show up this week.  7 out of 9 players scored in single digits.  His lone bright spot was Amon-Ra St. Brown who continued his God-like rise into Fantasy Heavens with a 9 catch, 116 yard, and 2 touchdown performance accounting for a whopping 41% of Chase’s total point output.  Tommy’s team put together a much better performance than Week 1 scoring a total of 134.8.  He had 5 players score in single digits, but he had stud performances out of Tyreek “Like a Cheetah running down a” Hill who put together a monster performance of 11 catches, 190 yards and 2 touchdowns in Miami’s epic comeback victory against the Ravens.  The other stud performance came from Tampa Bay Defense and Special Teams against our Saints, unfortunately.  They had 5 turnovers, 6 sacks, a touchdown, and only allowed 10 points scored resulting in crazy 27 point performance.  Most of Tommy’s team underwhelmed by Tyreek and Tampa D accounted for 68.5 or 74% of Chase’s point total.  Tommy didn’t need anyone else to go off this week.

Joe (1-1) 87.2 vs. Mike (1-1) 101.7

The other side of Division 1 also had the unbeaten team lose to the beaten team, resulting in all four members of Division 1 being at 1-1 heading into Week 3.  Both Joe and Mike’s teams underwhelmed this week.  Joe lost Jerry Jeudy to injury after he only had 1.7 points.  The only cooking Russel Wilson is doing this season is burning through Joe’s chances of victory in fantasy football.  The new head coach, offensive coordinator, and quarterback combo for Denver has looked rough.  The only good thing out of Joe’s Week 2 game was his peripherals.  Mark Andrews had 24.2 with 9 catches, 104 yards, and touchdown.  San Fran Defense and Special Teams had 13 against the Seahawks, and Justin Tucker got a solid 10.  Joe’s peripherals combined for 55% of Joe’s total point output, which is a good indication that you are going to lose.  Mike had some good fortune fall on him after he had to find a replacement for Dak Prescott.  In comes Carson Wentz who went off against Detroit with 30.7 fantasy points.  Despite Mike have 2 players score less than 1 point in Darnell Mooney (0.1) and Dalton Schultz (0.8), he was able to crack 100 points and get his first victory of the season.  This matchup was just gross.  It reminds me of the Southpark episode where Cartman eats so much P.F. Changs that he starts shitting out of his mouth.

Division 2:

Kenny (1-1) 122.0 vs. Katon (0-2) 111.2

K-Dub gets the W in the Battle of the Special K’s.  Overall Kenny had solid production out of most of his starters, with his top scorers being Kyler Murray with 25.8 and Mike Williams with 24.3.  Adams only had 2 receptions against the Cardinals, which was odd, but he was able to save an uncharacteristic day with one of those catches going for a touchdown.  Katon left in Alvin Kamara this week, who was inactive.  For those of you new to fantasy football, Teams list their inactives 90 minutes prior to game time.  So if the kick off is at 12pm noon central time, then the inactive list comes out at 10:30am.  Giving you an hour and a fucking half to make lineup adjustments.  If you are in Mountain Time Katon, that means for an 11am kickoff, the inactive list comes out at 9:30am.  Had Katon caught this with the overwhelming plethora of time he was given to make the lineup adjustment, he could have been on the winning side of this depending on who he started.  If he just threw in Ingram, he still would have lost.  If he had moved Zeke to Rb2 and put in Christian Kirk or Devonta Smith in the flex then he would have won.  We will never know.  Katon drops to 0-2 for his sins.

Jen (1-1) 84.9 vs. JD (2-0) 99.2

Jen had a rough week in Fantasy.  Aaron Rodgers did better than Week 1, so that’s good.  Breece Hall got a touchdown.  But overall most on her team underwhelmed.  James Conner exited his game with an ankle injury and that surely contributed to his low output.  JD wasn’t much better, but the big story for him was Drake London, rookie wide receiver for Atlanta.  He had 8 catches on 12 targets for 86 yards and a touchdown.  He starts the season averaging 9.5 targets per game, which is pretty significant.  JD also had rookie Garret Wilson go off for 29 on his bench.  Despite JD having Lamb and Diontae Johnson, he may have a hard time choosing who to start each week given these rookie’s early success.  JD moves to 2-0 despite scoring the 8th most points in the league through two weeks.

Division 3:

Trey (0-2) 111.7 vs. Mustafa (2-0) 134.6

Trey had a player score over 50 fantasy points and he lost.  Not only lost, but lost by 22.9.  He had 6 out of 9 players score in single digits.  Lamar Jackson had 318 yards passing, 119 yards rushing, 4 total touchdowns, and 8 points in bonuses alone.  The only other bright spot for Trey was his Allen’s both scoring touchdowns.  Moose is riding the Cooper Kupp revenge tour to the moon as he gets to 2-0.  Cooper Kupp got 29.3 proving at least 6 people who drafted ahead of him that they are stupid.  Moose also got 32.6 out of Josh Allen, who is making it look way too easy to carve up opposing defenses this season.  Moose had double digit performances from 7 out of 9 starters and moves to 2-0.

Brad (1-1) 207.8 vs. Scotty (1-1) 86.9

In the Office episode “Launch Party” in the fourth season, Dwight Schrute battled the new Dundler Mifflin website to prove he wouldn’t be beaten by a machine when it comes to paper sales.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iZ6bamP8wZk.  That’s how Brad felt this weekend as he battled the autodrafted Scotty lineup.  His team went off this week scoring 207.8 points, breaking Brad’s previous personal record of 191.9.  Of course it didn’t touch the league record set by Scotty last season, when he had 225.9 in Week 5.  Brad had 4 players score over 30 points with Nick Chubb getting 30.8, Jaylen Waddle getting 37.6, Aaron Jones getting 33.5 and Jalen Hurts getting 35.9. Brad cracked 200 points for the first time in his 22 year Fantasy Football career, despite getting 0 from his Tight End position.  Meanwhile on the other side of the matchup Scotty scored the second lowest in the league this week.  He had 6 players score in single digits including 3 who scored less than 5 points.  Mike Evans was ejected from the Saints game for being the little emotional bitch that he is after he shoved down Marcus Lattimore.  An ejection that ultimately led to him being suspended in next week’s game as well.  Brad wins by 120.9.  This margin of victory was more points than 8 teams scored in the league this week.

Week 3 Preview:

Division 1:

Chase (1-1) vs. Joe (1-1)

Joe’s team is so freaking ugly and bad right now.  Jesus Joe.  Russel Wilson has looked like crap and now he gets San Fran’s defense on Sunday Night Football.   Clyde Edwards-Helaire scored a pair of touchdowns in Week 1, but came back down to Earth in Week 2.  He was very efficient with his touches, but Joe would like to see more than 10-12 touches per game out of his top running back.  The lone bright spots on Joe’s roster are Ja’Marr Chase and Mark Andrews.  Joe will monitor to see if he’ll have Jeudy available this week or not.  On the other side of the matchup Chase comes in desperately needing to see something out of his first pick Dalvin Cook.  Cook is currently ranked Rb#28 and has yet to find the endzone this season.  What great fortune that Cook finds himself going up against the Lions who are currently ranked #32 OPRK giving up the most fantasy points to opposing Rb’s through 2 weeks.  Chase is hoping to see Amon-Ra St. Brown continue his incredible catch and touchdown streak.  A couple of injuries for Chase to watch this week include Michael Pittman Jr’s quad injury and whether or not we’ll see JK Dobbins make his 2022 debut.  If not, Joe could potentially start Kenyan Drake at Rb, which is just incredibly depressing to say.

Tommy (1-1) vs. Mike (1-1)

Looking at this matchup it just looks like it’s going to be fun.  Both teams are loaded with big names.  Tommy has Derrick Henry and Leonard Fournette, Mike has Najee Harris and Javonte Williams.  3 very high volume running backs and then timeshare Williams, who will have an opportunity to catch a lot of balls if the Broncos fall behind to the 49ers this week.  Tyreek Hill vs. Buffalo and DK Metcalf vs. Atlanta for Tommy and Tee Higgins vs. the Jets for Mike.  Just physical freaks all up in this matchup.  Just a fun matchup.  Big storyline to follow this week will be Carson Wentz facing off against his former team in the Philadelphia Eagles.  Look for Wentz to try and prove they made a mistake, when we all know they in fact, did not.

Division 2:

JD (2-0) vs. Katon (0-2)

Dizzle comes in trying to sweep Division 2 as Katon attempts to avoid the 0-3 hole to start the year.  JD will feature #6 Qb Patrick Mahomes @ Indianapolis and Katon will have noodle elbow Matthew Stafford with a favorable matchup @ Arizona.  Jd has Austin Ekeler who is the 18th ranked Rb and who JD selected over Cooper Kupp like an idiot squaring off against the Jaguars.  Speaking of Jaguars, JD has #7 Rb James Robinson who has made a miraculous comeback from a torn achilles to lead the Jacksonville backfield despite the Etienne hype this summer.  JD also has rookie Drake London looking to continue his solid start to his career against Seattle.  Katon is hoping to have Alvin Kamara back against the Panthers, but will need to lean on his wideout duo of #1 Stefon Diggs and #7 Christian Kirk.  Katon is hoping to get a sign of life out of Zeke Elliot who faces the 2-0 Giants on Monday Night Football.  Zeke has scored back to back games of 5.4 fantasy points.

Kenny (1-1) vs. Jen (1-1)

Kenny leads Division 2 in points scored and is hoping to catch up to JD for the divisional lead.   Kenny has Kyler Murray who is averaging a solid 23.2 points per game going up against a Rams defense that have given up 5 passing touchdowns through two games.  #2 Rb D’Andre Swift has looked the part starting the season with 20 rushes for 200 yards and averaging 21.9 fantasy points per game.  Jen has Aaron Rodgers in the battle of the Bays.  Between Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady I’m surprised we aren’t talking about the Battle of the Hudson Bay which took place in September in 1697.  In case you didn’t get it, Rodgers and Brady are both old.  Jen is hoping James Conner doesn’t miss this week with his ankle injury.   Otherwise the Cardinals will have to lean on Eno Benjamin and Darrel Williams against the Rams and Jen will have to lean on rookie Breece Hall again.  Jen is hoping for a bounce back game from Justin Jefferson who had a quiet game being guarded by Darius Slay in Week 2.  Jen is also hoping that Terry McLaurin does a bit more.  He’s been okay scoring 12.8 and 10.2, but he has actually scored the 3rd most fantasy points at Wide Receiver for the Commanders through two weeks.  Curtis Samuel and rookie Jahan Dotson have both scored more.  Should be a good matchup between these two.

Division 3:

Moose (2-0) vs. Scotty (1-1)

Moose is #1 in the standings after two weeks and looks to sweep his division foes.  In his way stands Scotty and his auto drafted squad minus Mike “Little Bitch” Evans who is suspended.  This matchup has the potential to be a back and forth affair with players ranging from Thursday Night Football all the way to Monday Night Football.  Scotty will strike first with Pittsburgh Defense and Special Teams squaring off against Jacoby Brissett and the Browns on TNF.  Moose will have #2 Fantasy Qb Josh Allen in a divisional game against Miami, #14 WR AJ Brown in a divisional game against the Commanders of Washington, #11 WR Michael Thomas in a divisional game against Carolina, and #2 WR Cooper Kupp in a divisional game against Arizona.  The theme of the week seems to be divisional games for Moose.  Big time players make big time plays in divisional games.  Scotty is hoping to have his stud Qb Justin Herbert for this matchup.  Herbert has fractured rib cartilage which is supposed to be extremely painful.  If he can’t go he’ll have to pivot to either Trevor Lawrence in the same matchup or Tom Brady in the Battle of the Bays.  Scotty will lean on #11 Rb Joe Mixon this week who faces a Jets defense that just gave up 87 rushing yards and 3 rushing touchdowns to Nick Chubb last week.  The Bengals are 0-2 after losing in back to back games by last second field goals.  Joe Burrow has been sacked 13 times through two weeks.  Look for the Bengals to lean on the rushing attack against the Jets to try and keep Burrow’s ass upright.

Trey (0-2) vs. Brad (1-1)

Battle of the Top 2 Picks in this years draft!  T-Money comes in seriously doubting how he handled the #1 Overall Pick this season.  He drafted Taylor, which was the correct pick, but going Etienne and Pitts at the Round 2 and 3 turn has proven disastrous over the first two weeks of the season.  He drafted these players over Nick Chubb (Rb#1) and Tyreek Hill (Wr#3).  Etienne sits at Rb#36 and has shown to be second fiddle to James Robinson.  One bright spot is that his touches doubled from Week 1 to Week 2, as he went from 6 touches to 12 touches.  Kyle Pitts sits at Tight End #36 and has shown to be second fiddle to rookie Drake London in Atlanta.  When asked about Pitts lack of production on the field, head coach Arthur Smith responded with “It’s not fantasy football.  We’re just trying to win.”  I find this quote ironic considering their best chance to win is probably going to involve getting the ball into the hands of one of your best players on offense.  This week Brad opens up as 13.1 point favorites according to ESPN predictions.  Trey has #1 Qb Lamar Jackson going to New England.  The Patriots have been stingy against fantasy Qb’s and currently rank 8th in OPRK.  #5 Rb Johnathan Taylor faces Kansas City who gave up a rushing touchdown to James Conner in Week 1.  If Trey is going to compete this week he’ll need more production from the rest of his lineup.  Otherwise this is going to be a very long season.  Brad is coming off of his 200-point explosion where he blew his load in Week 2.  Not particularly surprising that Brad blew his load this early in the game.  Brad has his 4 Rb’s in the starting lineup again this week with #1 Rb Nick Chubb facing the Steelers on Thursday Night Football, #8 Rb Christian McCaffrey with a tough matchup against the Saints, and #4 Rb Aaron Jones with a tough matchup @ Tampa Bay.  Buffalo is @ Miami, proving tough matchups for four of Brad’s starters, Waddle, Knox, Buf Defense and Special Teams, and kicker Tyler Bass.  We’ll see if the matchups can bend this one in Trey’s favor to get his first win of the season or if Brad will ride the momentum of his Week 2 explosion into a winning streak.

Thanks for reading and good luck!

BBY Dream Team League Season 14: Week 1 Recap & Week 2 Preview

Week 1 Recap:

Division 1:

Chase (1-0) 142.9 vs. Mike (0-1) 67.7

Chase with a dominant win in Week 1 against Mike Grote.  Chase had every player score at least 8.9 points; whereas, Mike had 5 players score under 8.9 and his top scorer getting 14.3.  Mike also lost his #1 Qb to a throwing hand injury, his #1 Rb to an ankle/foot injury, his #1 WR to a concussion, and his #3 WR Chris Godwin to a hamstring injury, even though he was on Mike’s bench.  Chase’s top scorers were Michael Pittman Jr. with 25.6 and Travis Kelce with 25.1.  Kelce’s game looked effortless against a banged up Cardinals team.  Amon-Ra St. Brown picked up where he left off last season catching the ball 8 times.  He has at least 8 catches in 7 consecutive games dating back to last season.  He has a touchdown catch in 6 out of his last 7 games dating back to last season.  Big 75.2 point victory for Chase.

Tommy (0-1) 107.1 vs. Joe (1-0) 114.7

Tommy held the lead going into Monday Night Football.  He was up by 31.3 after decent performances from Burrow (21.1 despite throwing 4 picks), Fournette (17.7) and Kareem Hunt (21.0).  Joe had Russell Wilson and Jerry Jeudy left after Clyde Edwards-Helaire and Ja’Mar Chase accounted for 68% of Joe’s point total as of Sunday.  Tommy had DJ Metcalf left.  Joe was able to come back and in the fourth quarter Russell Wilson threw a pass to Jeudy, which put Wilson over 300 yards for the 3 point bonus and Jeudy over 100 yards for the 3 point bonus.  Just a random 14 yard catch in the fourth quarter and Tommy has a touchdown scored against him.  Brutal.  Joe winds up holding on to the lead after this as Metcalf was quiet at the end of the game.  He had 7 catches, but for only 36 yards and he lost a fumble.  Tommy will look to regroup for next week.

Division 2:

Jen (1-0) 117.9 vs. Katon (0-1) 92.7

Jen only got 3.7 from Aaron Rodgers who looked brutal in his first game without Davante Adams.  Jen did have solid production from her running backs with Conner getting 14 and Antonio Gipson getting 16.5 including 7 catches for 72 yards, which is a great sign for his prospects this year.  Jen’s top scorer came from her first round selection in Justin “You all who took running backs before him should have drafted him” Jefferson.  Who went off to the tune of 9 catches on 11 targets, 184 yards, 2 touchdowns and 37.9 fantasy points.  Katon had 5 players score in single digits including all 3 of his starting running backs who averaged an unfortunate 6 points.  His lone bright spot this week was Stefon Diggs 27.2 on Thursday Night Football.  Jen with a solid performance in Week 1, scoring the 4th highest total of the week.

Kenny (0-1) 99.5 vs. JD (1-0) 106.1

Very different performances from Kenny and JD this week.  Kenny had three players go off in Kyler Murray, Swift, and Davante Adams who totaled 76.6 of his 99.5 points and then he had six players score 7.2 or less for a total of 22.9 points.  JD was a bit more balanced with everyone on his team scoring at least 8.5 points except for two players, his Tight End who got skunked and CeeDee Lamb who, like the entire Dallas offense, looked atrocious.  JD’s main man was Patrick Mahomes who made a statement against the flapless Cardinals to the tune of 360 passing yards and 5 passing touchdowns.  The Cardinals defense less like a beautiful red cardinal and more  like the parakeet from Dumb and Dumber.

Division 3:

Trey (0-1) 94.6 vs. Scotty (1-0) 132.7

Trey was carried by Johnathan Taylor’s 28.5 who picked up right where he left off last season. Unfortunately, JT accounted for 30.1% of Trey’s total points scored.  Dissapointing performances from Trey’s 2nd and 3rd Round picks Etienne (7.5) and Pitts (2.9) and his Allen combo was a no show with Allen Robinson only catching one ball and Allen Lazard being ruled out due to injury.  Scotty had crazy performances from Pittsburgh D/ST with 27.0 against the Bengals and 24.1 from Cordarrelle Patterson against the Saints.  Herbert slung 3 touchdowns to 3 different players that nobody has rostered in Horvath, Carter, and Everett.  Joe Mixon looked solid with 18 and Deebo and Evans both scored.  Scotty scored the third most points this week for a complete team win.

Brad (0-1) 117.1 vs. Mustafa (1-0) 176.7

Words can’t capture Brad’s feeling of inadequacy in this league over the past 9 seasons.  The only way Brad can describe it is in song form.  Please see attached video that accurately captures the emotions of Brad wanting to win in this league again: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R8bfDel-Clw

Moose came out dick swinging in this one.  Crushing Brad.  He was led by his first four picks.  Let’s compare how Picks 1-4 performed for these two teams.

Brad:

  1. CMC-13.7
  2. Jones- 9.1
  3. Nick Chubb- 17.8
  4. Courtland Sutton- 9.2

Average of 12.5 points.

Not bad, but not great.

Moose:

  1. Kupp- 28.3
  2. Barkley- 33.4
  3. AJ Brown- 23.5
  4. Josh Allen- 31.4

Average of 29.15

That will do. Moose also outscored Brad in peripherals with 35.5 to Brad’s 27.  Just a dominant performance from the 4 time champion.

Week 2 Preview:

Division 1:

Chase (1-0) vs. Tommy (0-1)

Chase and Tommy square off in D1, with Chase looking to stay unbeaten and Tommy trying to get his first win of the season.  Chase will be tuning into all the primetime games this week as he has JuJu Smith-Schuster and Travis Kelce on Thursday Night Football against the Chargers, AJ Dillon on Sunday Night Football against Chicago Bears, and Kirk Cousins and Dalvin Cook on Monday night football against the Philly Eagles.  He may pivot to Darrell Henderson Jr. who ESPN has projected 15.8 points this week against Atlanta.  Tommy has Joe Burrow @ Dallas who will be starting Cooper Rush this week at Qb.  Derrick Henry gets to go to Buffalo on the first of the doubleheader Monday Night Football Game.  Big storyline is whether or not Tommy will have George Kittle available or not.  He missed Week 1 due to an injury and Tommy and the 49ers both need him back this week.

Joe (1-0) vs. Mike (0-1)

Joe comes in on a high after winning on Monday Night Football.  Mike comes in reeling after being devasted by injuries in Week 1.  He got good news that Najee Harris might be back this week.  Tee Higgins is in the protocol, so will have to be cleared by an independent specialist to suit up against the Cowboys.  Dak Prescott is projected to avoid IR despite reports saying this is a 6–8-week injury.  Not sure what Jerry is up to here.  Mike needs a Quarterback, so he’ll look to FAAB or Waivers to snag a starter to go against Joe.  Joe has Russ Wilson and Jerry Jeudy against Houston.  Ja’Marr Chase is @ Dallas.  And Joe will kick things off with Clyde Edwards-Helaire on TNF.  Mike has Javonte Williams against Houston.

Division 2:

Kenny (0-1) vs. Katon (0-1)

Battle of the K Names in the league.  Both seeking their first win of the season.  Kenny lost Elijah Mitchell to injury and he may be out a while.  He’ll have Mike Williams @ KC on TNF, Kyler Murray @ Las Vegas, and D’Andre Swift against Washington Commanders this week.  Katon will have Alvin Kamara against Tampa Bay, David Montgomery on Sunday Night Football, and Stefon Diggs on Monday Night Football against the Titans.  Kamara struggled against Tampa last season including one game where he had 31 total yards and averaged 1.6 yards per carry.  There is a fortune cookie sitting next to me no my desk right now from Panda Express.  It says “The key to happiness is reasonable expectations.”

Jen (1-0) vs. JD (1-0)

On the flip side of Division 2 we have two undefeated teams battling it out.  One will go to 2-0 and the other to 500.  Jen is hoping for a bounce back game for Aaron Rodgers who will be playing the team he owns on Sunday Night Football.  James “Touchdowns” Conner is in Las Vegas.  Antonio Gipson gets Detroit who gave up a pair of touchdowns to Miles Sanders last week.  Jefferson is @ Philly on Monday Night Football.  Philly has some good cornerbacks, but they didn’t stop Amon-Ra from getting his and they certainly aren’t going to stop Jefferson.  Terry McLaurin is @ Detroit and Darren Waller the Baller is against the Cardinals that gave up 25.1 fantasy points to Travis Kelce in Week 1.  Dizzle will have Patrick Mahomes against his Austin Ekeler and the Chargers on Thursday Night Football.  Usually TNF games are lower scoring, but this matchup over is currently at 54 and climbing.  JD will be without Keenan Allen this week as he was injured in Week 1.  He’ll have to turn to rookie Drake London against Jalen Ramsey and the Rams who were embarrassed by the Bills on opening day.  London looked the part in Week 1 for Atlanta, getting 7 targets, 5 catches and 74 yards against a stout Saints Secondary.  This should be a fun game.

Division 3:

Trey (0-1) vs. Mustafa (1-0)

Trey may have had the first overall pick, but Moose is #1 right now in the standings.  Trey is looking to bounce back from a disappointing Week 1.  He’ll have Johnathan Taylor Thomas starring in Tom and Huck where he hopes to discover lost treasure before the murderer does.  JT looks to continue his fantasy dominance against a talented Jaguars team that just lost to the Commanders of Washington last week.   He’ll be starting Lamar Jackson who will be facing his future team in the Miami Dolphins.  Consider this game a try out for the pending free agent who has been rumored to want to play in Miami and team up with Tyreek Hill in 2023.  In order for Trey to compete in this one he’s going to need more than Lamar and JT though and the rest of his lineup are looking rough.  Etienne disappointed in Week 1 and James Robinson looked pretty damn good with two touchdowns.  Etienne only touched the ball 6 times in the game.  But there is a silver-lining.  He averaged 10.8 yards per touch.  Let’s see if the Jaguars give him some more work moving forward.  Trey also has Allen Robinson against Atlanta.  Robinson was shut down against the Bills.  After the game Matt Stafford said that the Bills had played zone almost the entire game with only a couple snaps with man coverage.  Apparently when he saw zone he avoided Allen Robinson.  We’ll see if this has more to do with how incredible Cooper Kupp is in zone coverage or how bad Robinson is in zone coverage.  Did Atlanta play more zone or man against the Saints Trey?  Homework assignment for the week.  Moose comes in red hot after spanking the Commissioner more dramatically than Vince McMahon’s meme.  Moose will have this 3 Top 10 Wideouts with Kupp vs. Atlanta, AJ Brown vs. Minnesota, and Michael Thomas vs. Tampa Bay.  Saquon gets the Panthers who just gave up 141 yards rushing to Nick Chubb in Week 1.  Until further notice, Moose is heavily favored in all games.

Brad (0-1) vs. Scotty (1-0)

Brad hopes to bounce back after scoring the 5th most points in Week 1 but coming up empty in the win column.  Did you see what I did there?  Instead of owning the fact that I drafted a shit team I just deflected like it was merely bad luck that I went up against Moose in Week 1?  Where is the ownership?  Where is the accountability?  Brad will look to continue starting 4 running backs since Jalen Hurts had 17 rushes 90 yards and a rushing touchdown in Week 1 compared to 243 yards passing.  CMC gets the Giants in New York.  He had 13.7 in Week 1 and had a nice 28 yard run not count due to it being a fumble recovery.  Nick Chubb gets the Jets.  Aaron Jones gets Chicago on Sunday Night Football.  Last season Jones had two solid games against the Bears, scoring 3 touchdowns in those 2 contests.  Brad has been able to accumulate 4 Rb2s and 3 Wr2s for some solid depth.  Unfortunately, depth doesn’t help in the early weeks of the season when you need actual starters.  Scotty will have Justin “I want to prove I’m better than Mahomes” Herbert who will visit Arrowhead on Thursday Night Football.  He’ll have Joe Mixon @ Dallas, Cordarrelle Patterson @ LA Rams, and Deebo Samuel against the Seahawks.  Scotty will also have Mike Evans against the Saints.  The Who Dats usually shut his ass down, but last season the bastard broke one and caught a 41 yard touchdown in the Dome.  Steelers D/ST is ranked #1 after Week 1 and gets broken back Mac Jones and New England.  What could go wrong?

Thanks for reading and good luck!
