Dynamo Dynasty League Consolation Bracket Team Analysis

Consolation Bracket Team Analysis

  1. Ollie (6-8)

There’s no easy way to say it.  Ollie got hosed.  He was put in the MITE division.  A division with 4 playoff teams from 2023.  This means he had to play Adam, Mike D, and Dom all twice.  He started out 1-2 in Divisional play.  Then he got a great victory in Week 4 defeating Ian 139.10-104.18. He was 5-4 after 9 weeks.  Then he had a string of horrible luck when it comes to Points Against.

150.70

148.56

140.12

141.98

Ollie falls to 5-8.  Despite that he had a chance at making the playoffs.  He needed to beat Dom and he needed both Andy and Brad to lose in Week 14.  But Brad got lucky again.  Facing Oscar when Oscar didn’t have Ladd McConkey, Courtland Sutton, Dallas Goedert, Zach Ertz, and he lost Bucky Irving to an in-game injury.

Ollie did send his 2025 1st to Brad in the Blockbuster deal.  Dak, JT, his 2025 1st for Mahomes, Addison, Brad’s 2025 2nd.  Dak was lost to IR.  Brad traded away JT.  Ollie traded away Addison.  Ollie finds himself in the consolation bracket.  He does hold his own 2nd round pick and Brad’s 2nd round pick.  It’s tough to be motivated to win the consolation bracket when you don’t own your own 1st.  But in this deep RB draft class there is sure to be value to be had in Picks #13-16, which is where Ollie’s 2nd will fall.  This class has Jeanty, Hampton, Judkins, Henderson, Singleton, Gordon, Etienne, and Scattebo.  At WR it’s not too bad either with McMillan, Burden III, Egbuka, Bond, Harris.  If Ollie wants to develop his QB room there’s Sanders, Ward, Milroe, and Gabriel.  And a few Tight Ends that could climb the draft boards depending on their landing spot.

Ollie also has Derrick Henry, Joe Mixon playing great for their age.  He’s stacked at Tight End with Kelce, Engram, and Jonnu Smith.  And his WRs improved a lot this year with Shakir, Meyers, Reed showing flashes.  Losing Johnathan Brooks is a bummer, but he can compete in the consolation bracket and make his 2nd round pick a bit higher next year.  But make no mistake.  If I was Ollie I’d be pissed about the way my luck turned out this season.  According to Fantasy Genius a widget on the sleeper App.  Ollie had 4 unlucky losses and a net luck score of -3.  That means in four of his losses he scored in the Top 6 teams that week, but lost because of who he played against.  These 4 unlucky losses was tied with Adam for the most in the league this season.

  1. Andy (6-8)

Andy finds himself in the exact same situation as last season.  Andy was 6-8 and the 8th seed, meaning he got a bye in the consolation bracket.  In 2023 Andy had 1503.48 Points For and 1416.40 Points Against.  In 2024 Andy had 1535.82 Points For and 1574.90 Points Against.  Andy got great production out of Jahmyr Gibbs (RB#5) and Alvin Kamara (RB#3).  His QB room improved with Justin Herbert and Sam Darnold.  CeeDee Lamb regressed a tad, but still is a Top 5 Fantasy WR despite losing Dak midyear.

The big story of Andy’s season (other than the bad luck Points Against) was Marvin Harrison Jr.  While other rookies like BTJ, Nabers, and Bowers are WR1 or TE1 so far this season, Marvin is only a WR3.  There’s no doubt he’ll have a great career in the NFL, but the slow start was unfortunate for Andy’s chances to go the distance this season.  Andy also improved his TE room with the addition of Tucker Kraft.

Andy will look to add depth at RB, but also some higher floor Wide Receivers.  Many of his weeks were Boom/Bust due to his Trio of Deep Threats in Jameson Williams, Elijah Moore, and Alec Pierce.

Let’s add Jeanty or McMillian to this team next year and see what happens.

  1. Ian (5-9)

The Green Bubble definitely exists, I think.  It’s not just the fact that he doesn’t participate in the group chat for this league.  It’s that he doesn’t participate much in terms of transactions either.  But he put up the 5th highest points for and transactions don’t help with Points Against, where Ian had the 3rd highest.  This was evident from the get-go.  He lost a nail-biter in Week 1 120.58-121.32 against Oscar.  Less than 1 point was the difference between starting 0-1 and 1-0.  Then he took care of Brad easily in Week 2 151.84-107.16.  But then he had 3 consecutive weeks where the team against him scored over 130 points.  131.56, 139.10, 130.74.  So he starts out 1-4.  He got a couple of wins to get to 3-4, but then had Mike B get 142.86, then Cuz get 140.44.  Dropping him to 3-6.  It’s hard to climb out of a hole like that and the bubble couldn’t catch a break.

With that said.  Looking at his team he’ll compete in the future.  Kyler was inconsistent, but has stayed healthy and is QB#10 on the season.  David Montgomery is RB#9 and has gotten at least 12.60 fantasy points in 12/13 games.  (mostly because of his 12 rushing touchdowns).  Kenneth Walker is super talented but just couldn’t get it going consistently and has missed 3 games so far.  Deebo has had worst fantasy year of his career other than his sophomore campaign that was lost due to injury.  Rome Odunze has started off very slow as a WR4.  Luckily his best player Justin Jefferson has done his thing and is WR#2 on the season.  Mark Andrews started off slow then came on strong for Ian.  And I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention Chris Godwin.  Want to talk about “What might have been?”  Godwin was averaging 19.69 points per game prior to his ankle injury that took him out for the season.

The Bubble has his own 1st, 2nd, and 3rd next year, so look for him to compete in the consolation bracket and retool and be competitive against next season, hopefully with some better Points Against luck.

  1. Dom (5-9)

Dom.  Dom, Dom, Dom, Dom, Dom… He started off the year in the offseason with banger after banger of trades. He shipped off Tyreek Hill for Breece Hall.  Traded D’Andre Swift for Kirk Cousins and a pair of picks.  Traded Jaylen Warren and a couple picks for Michael Pittman.  Traded with Adam to move up and draft Jayden Daniels.  Traded Cuz DeAndre Hopkins for a 3rd.  Had two incredibly saavy pickups in Andre Iosivas and Jordan Mason.  He acquired Dotson and a 3rd for Gibson and a 2nd right before Dotson was traded from the Commanders to the Eagles.  He kept going into the season.  Trading Bateman and a 2nd for Wicks.  Then Justin Fields for Diontae Johnson and a 3rd.  Then trading a 3rd and 2nd for Watson and a 4th.  In summary, The Dom was a Diddling.  He started out 5-1.  Then it all came crashing down.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ulJXiB5i_q0

36 Seconds Into This Video.

He lost 3 in a row to Mike B, Dan, and Brad.  But in Week 10 when he lost to Oscar 123.08-70.88 it was the final straw.  Nothing had worked out.  Pittman injured his back and the Colts were doing QB Roulette.   Dotson busted.  Breece Hall only had 4 RB1 finishes so far.  Wilson only had 3 WR1 finishes so far.  Kyle Pitts did what he does every year and was a Bust.  James Cook was inconsistent.  Keenan Allen was inconsistent.

So after Week 10, while trades were happening prior to trade deadline weekend.  Dom made a decision.  He decided he had seen enough and that he would tank the rest of the season.  He traded Adam Breece Hall for Adams 2025 1st, Andy’s 2025 2nd, a 2026 5th, and a 2027 3rd.  Understandable.  Let’s switch from win-now to rebuild mode.

But then Dom began to bench starting players for bench players.  He started to throw his games.  He didn’t bench all his starters at first.  In Week 12 he put up 94.50 against Dickinson.  But he gave victories to Ian, Dickinson, Adam, and Ollie over the last four weeks of the regular season.  Now looking at things I think he would have gone 1-3 in that stretch anyway.  But this had big implications.

In Week 14 if he had started the following lineup:

Kirk Cousins, Zach Charbonnet, James Cook, Garret Wilson, Christian Watson, Kyle Pitts, Keenan Allen and MVS.

A probable starting lineup if he was trying.  He would have scored 104.26 to Ollie’s 96.50.  Why does that matter?  From Dom’s point of view maybe he was trying to ensure Adam didn’t get a Top 4 pick in next years draft?  But his decision had playoff implications.  If I would have lost to Oscar (I only won due to four things that went wrong for Oscar, so it was a possibility) then Ollie would have made the playoffs over Andy.  Dom’s decision to bench Zach Charbonnet and Garet Wilson would have cost Andy a playoff spot.  Now I did beat Oscar, but it still made Ollie jump Andy in the consolation bracket.  We’ll have to see how it’ll play out with the draft order next year.  In essence Dom’s decision prevented Adam from getting a Top 4 pick and ensured Brad got a Top 4 pick because Brad owns Ollie’s 1st.  Dom chose Ollie over Andy for playoff implications and Brad over Adam for draft implications.

But this is a really shitty thing to do.  You play to win in almost every case.  If you’re Adam, why would you ever trade with Dom again?  Get someone’s first round pick, but then they tank to make your pick worst?  That’s fucked up.  And it didn’t make any sense because Dom doesn’t own any of his own picks.  It was like the season didn’t work out for him, so he wanted to burn it all down and cause as much disruption as possible out of spite.

Now I like Dom and he is an integral part of this league and part of what makes the league such a fun one to be a part of.  But this setting a lineup to lose on purpose is just bullshit.  It’s immature.  It lacks integrity.  Fantasy Football, crazy shit can happen.  You built a win-now team.  It didn’t work, you trade away Hall to hedge your bets then you keep trying to compete.  Alright soap box over.  Hopefully we can all move past this and look for a more optimistic Dom in 2025.

  1. Dan (4-10)

Dan has proven to be quite the talent when it comes to weekly recaps.  Laughing loudly several times each week with his shenanigans, I hope I can do this little blurb about his team this year justice.

Dan’s 2nd season wind up being worst than his first season.  Several factors played key reasons as to why that is.

  1. Rashee Rice tears ACL in Week 4.
  2. Keon Coleman starts slow, then starts to get going, then injures wrist and misses 4 weeks.
  3. Rachaad White has new OC and Bucky Irving emerges. Dropping White from RB1 to RB2.
  4. Sam LaPorta has a sophomore slump dropping in every statistical category from his TE1 finish in 2023.
  5. Chris Olave dealt with injuries to his QB then to himself before being lost for the season in Week 9.
  6. Tank Dell couldn’t regain his rookie season’s magic after breaking his leg then being shot in the offseason.
  7. Inconsistent QB play. Jared Goff is QB#9, but with QB finishes as follows: 18, 25, 19, 4, 4, 10, 20, 27, 15, 1, 25, 18, 6.  Aaron Rodgers is QB#18 with only 4 QB1 finishes this year and none better than QB#10.
  8. D’Andre Swift starts off slow, then smashes for a few weeks, then regresses back again.
  9. Dan has 2nd highest Points Against with 1719.02 (Average of 122.79 against him each week)

With all that being said, Dan has a lot to be optimistic about.  He sold Cedric Tillman high and bought Tee Higgins low.  He picked up Jauan Jennings who looks like a stud for the 49ers.  He picked up Noah Gray who may be organically replacing the aging Travic Kelce.  He’ll have a Top 6 pick in 2025 and 3 picks in the Top 18 picks in a deep RB class.  He’s going to come back next year with Kyren, Rashee, Tee, Olave, Rookies, and be competitive.  Don’t count out our Meme Master General.  He’s going to be back and better than ever next season.

  1. Colton (2-12)

I talked about this in the offseason.  Colton’s startup draft was historically bad.  He knew he would be starting from the bottom this season as he slowly works his way back in competition.  But he made all the right moves this year.  2-12 may be a shocking record.  But he had the lowest Points For and the highest points against this season.  8 times this season a team put up at least 125 against him.  But he knew what he had to do.  Get younger, get picks, get ready.  Full rebuilds can be fun.  Let’s look at what he’ll bring to the table in 2025:

QB: Jordan Love (26), Tua Tagovailoa (26), Geno Smith (34), Will Levis (25), and JJ McCarthy (21). A plethora of veterans and young talent at the QB position.

RB: Aaron Jones (30) has been a solid RB2 this year.

WR: Jaxon Smith-Njigba (22) is WR#6! On the season.  Xavier Worthy (21), Jerry Jeudy (25)

TE: David Njoku (28) is TE#8 on the season.  Cole Kmet (25)

But more importantly than the young talent already on his team.  His picks for 2025, a very good RB class looks like this:

2025 1st (Top 6 Pick)

Brad’s 2025 1st (Pick 7-12)

Mike D’s 2025 1st (Pick 7-12)

Mike B’s 2025 3rd (Pick 31-36)

Adam’s 4th

Brad’s 5th

Dom’s 5th

And In 2026 he has even more fire power:

His 2026 1st

Brad’s 2026 1st

His 2026 2nd

Dom’s 2026 2nd

His own 3rd, 4th, and 5th

Now we can talk about Colt taking Xavier Worthy over BTJ and Bowers, but Worthy is still fast as hell and young as hell, so we’ll see what type of career his turns into.  But JSN and Jeudy are already performing now.  I look forward to watching Colt turn this thing around in the years to come.

Well good luck everyone in the consolation bracket.  Keep fighting for those higher picks.  The 1.01 looks like Ashton Jeanty.  There’s a ton of RB talent.  McMillan, the 6’5” behemoth at WR.  QBs like Cam Ward, Jalen Milroe, Gilbert, and Sanders.  Judkins.  Henderson.  Fight until the bell and let’s see how it shakes out next year.

Dynamo Dynasty League Playoff Teams Analysis

Congratulations to the 6 teams that made the playoffs.  To the 6 in the consolation bracket I’ll try to get a team analysis this week if I’m able to find the time.

  1. Oscar (12-2)

Our defending champ has defended.  He finished with the lowest Points Against total with 1383.60 (average of 98.83)  The next closest was Mike B with only 1438.60 (average of 102.76) against him.  Oscar played to the level of his competition all season.  He wind up finishing third in Points For, so don’t just chalk his success up to luck.  He has Fantasy QB#4 Jalen Hurts.  RB#7 Josh Jacobs who averages 17.56 points per game on the season, but has averaged 24.58 since the Packers Week 10 bye week, with RB finishes of 5, 2, 5, and 4 the last four weeks.  Oscar’s bye week is crucial as he tries to repeat as champion.  He’s nursing injuries from his two stud rookies Bucky Irving and Ladd McConkey.  He’ll once again turn to his veteran wideouts in Cooper Kupp (averages 18.41/game), Mike Evans (averages 14.40/game), and new addition Courtland Sutton (averages 13.91/game).  He did lose his starting Tight End Dallas Goedert, but thanks to an earlier season saavy trade with Brad he has reliable Zach Ertz (10.01/game) as a suitable replacement and the Eagles replacement for Goedert in Grant Calcaterra who scored a touchdown in Week 14.  Oscar only needs to win two games to repeat as Champion.  It’ll all come down to the health of his rookies and whether Isaih Pacheco can carve out a larger role for himself prior to the postseason.

  1. Mike B (11-3)

Our dear commissioner was hoping to avoid a repeat of last season’s first round bounce by his brother Adam and has successfully secured the bye.  Thanks in large part to #1 Fantasy QB Lamar Jackson who has scored 324.40 Fantasy Points so far this season and #1 Fantasy WR Jamarr Chase who has scored 317.40 Fantasy Points so far this season.  This incredible duo averages a combined 49.37 each week.  Giving Mike an incredibly high floor.  His lowest scoring week came in Week 3 when he scored 98.38 points.  Mike started off 5-0 before falling to Dickinson in Week 6 and then he lost to Oscar in Week 9 in that Classic Kareem Hunt OT rushing touchdown game to beat Tampa Bay.  Sometimes games and playoff seedings are settled by a coin toss.  The biggest story for Mike was some saavy trades to add better running backs to his team.  He added Tyrone Tracy from Cuz and Rico Dowdle from Dan.  Then of course he has his incredible trio of Chase, Puca, and Nico who are all healthy heading into the postseason.  He also has #3 TE Trey McBride averaging 14.78 fantasy points per game despite not catching a single touchdown so far this season, although he does have 1 rushing.  Incredibly high floor.  Points Leader.  He’s deep.  He’s ready.  Will Mike win the coveted title?

  1. Adam (9-5):

Adam has been dominating this entire season.  His lowest scoring week was Week 4 where he scored 96.68.  The next lowest was Week 1 where he scored 109.68.  Just a tremendous floor.  Adam started out 0-2 with high Points Against games against Ollie (115.44) and Dom (121.94).  His team settled in around Week 5 and rattled off 3 wins in a row to move to 4-3.  He lost one to Andy when Andy exploded for 160.90 in Week 8 and then another to Cuz in a 2.82 point nail biter in Week 10 (112.0-114.62).  But then he dismantled Mike B in Week 11 (150.48-119.78) and has averaged 138.93 points per game in the final four weeks of the regular season.  Coming into the playoffs screaming hot.  Steaming hot?  Screeching hot?  Just hot.  The big story with Adam’s team is his MVP race duo of Josh Allen (QB#2, Averages: 23.74) and Saquon Barkley (RB#1, Averages: 23.08).  These two averages 46.82 per week giving him a high floor like his brother.  Adam also has a pair of high scoring RB2’s in #13 James Conner and #15 Breece Hall.  These two also pair with an incredible Foursome at WR: #3 Amon-Ra St. Brown, #5 Terry McLaurin, #15 Zay Flowers, and #16 Darnell Mooney.  Perhaps the hardest thing for Adam will be deciding which of the 7 players will sit out each week of the playoffs.  There are also rumblings about Breece Hall being shut down for the season in a lost Jets season.  But with almost all his players either making the NFL playoffs or vying for an NFL playoff spot, look for Adam to continue his hot streak on his quest for a title.

  1. Mike Dickinson (9-5)

Mike Dickinson, by far the prettiest member of the league who would make the best looking woman if he were to change genders, comes into the playoffs as one of the savviest traders in the league.  He traded away Jaylen Waddle for Stefon Diggs and Ricky Pearsall in a four-way trade between Brad, Cuz, and Colt.  He preyed on a depressed 2-4 Brad who was projected to lose by obtaining Johnathan Taylor for a 1st and 3rd pick.  Then as a stroke of genius he traded away JK Dobbins at his maximum value getting Jordan Addison and a 3rd right before Dobbins got hurt and Addison began to smash.  He has the 6th highest Point For and the 3rd lowest Points Against.  He’s suffered through lots of injuries like many of us.  Adam Thielen missed 7 games, Stefon Diggs was lost for the season, CMC missed 8 games then was lost for the season.  Ricky Pearsall was hurt then got shot after Dickinson traded for him.  CJ Stroud has regressed big time in his Sophomore season. His rookie year he was fantasy QB#11.  This year he sits at QB#19.  Luckily Dickinson traded for Brock Purdy in the offseason.  Purdy missed one game with a hurt shoulder, but was able to come back and is QB#12 on the season, averaging 18.29 points per game.  The other big storyline is De’Von Achane.  Achane is RB#6 on the season and has not missed a game all year.  One of the reasons he’s RB#6 on the year is his involvement in the passing game.  Through 14 Weeks, 13 games he has 71 targets, 63 receptions, 474 receiving yards, and 6 receiving touchdowns.  He averages 17.72 points per game and the Dolphins offense is surging at the right time as they attempt to make an unlikely playoff bid.  Despite all of this, Dickinson’s best player is Rookie Phenom Brock Bowers.  Tight End #1 who sits at 118 targets, 87 receptions (rookie te record), 933 yards, and 4 touchdowns.  He averages 15.82 points per game.  Can the rest of his team stay healthy?  Will Jordan Addison stay hot? (Two 30+ Point games in the last three weeks).  Purdy. Achane.  JT.  London (WR#8).  Bowers.  Mike can compete and gets Cuz in Round 1.

  1. Cuz (8-6)

In 2023 Cuz finished 7-7 but was edged out by Points For by the Mikes who were both also 7-7.  It led to Cuz playing for a Consolation Bracket Title, but he came up short and was awarded the rights to Malik Nabers.  Fast forward to 2024.  Cuz gets the coveted 8th win and secures the 5 seed.  No consolation bracket for him a second year in a row.  Cuz has done this despite keeping a “Build for the future” management style.  He traded Baker Mayfield to Brad for a 2025 3rd and a 2026 2nd.  He traded Tyrone Tracy to Mike B for a 2025 2nd and a 2026 3rd and Zamir White.  He also sits with his roster having FOUR empty roster spots and FIVE players on IR including Taysom Hill, Austin Ekeler, Zach Moss and Theo Johnson.  He also enters Rounds 1 with George Pickens nursing a hurt hamstring.  The young wideout has had a resurgence of his career with Russ Wilson at QB and is averaging 12.95 points per game this season.  Despite all of what I just said his starting lineup is legitimate.  He CAN compete in his playoff bracket!  #3 QB Joe Burrow has averaged 27.74 points per game over his last 5 games.  RB#12 Chuba Hubbard averages 15.4 points per game and has zero backfield competition as Miles Sanders (IR), Johnathan Brooks (IR), and Raheem Blackshear (went to ER during Eagles game for a severe chest contusion) are all dead.  Cuz will rely on Brian Robinson (averages 13.45/game, No Ekeler competition) and Jaylen Warren (averaging 11.06 in past five games).  He has a stud at Tight End in #2 George Kittle who is averaging a whopping 16.73 per game.  And his trio of Wideouts #13 Tyreek Hill, #9 Malik Nabers, and DeAndre Hopkins.  Cuz might not have the depth to go far into the playoffs, but while he can make a starting lineup he’s just as deadly as the rest of the contenders.

  1. Brad (7-7)

Where to start.  Brad has now traded away the following list of players and picks over the past two seasons:

Patrick Mahomes

Johnathan Taylor

Zay Flowers

Jordan Addison

Courtland Sutton

Tee Higgins

Jerry Jeudy

Sam LaPorta

Zach Ertz

Cade Otton

2025 1st

2025 2nd

2025 3rd

2025 4th

2025 5th

2026 1st

2026 2nd

Mike Dickinson’s 2025 1st

Colton’s 2025 3rd

And he’s dropped:

Russell Wilson

Alexander Mattison

Andre Iosivas

Tucker Kraft

And yet here he is.  After starting the season 2-6 and left for dead on the side of The Witches Road in the internal depression of his mind he decided to make a change.  He wanted to be more positive.  He changed his team name to “To Infinity and Bijan!” and started to have fun tinkering with his lineups and roster rather than dreading the #2 Points Against he was having at the time.  He hedged his bets with trading away Johnathan Taylor to Dickinson.  Sitting at 2-4 with 2-5 on the horizon, Brad knew it would take a lot of luck to be able to make the playoffs.  He also saw the potential in his RB2 Chase Brown.  After trading away a decent looking Dynasty Roster the past two seasons, who the hell does Brad have competing for a title this season?

At QB he has QB#5 Baker Mayfield.  Baker hasn’t been the stud he was when Chris Godwin was in the lineup.  He just hasn’t.  But he’s had QB1 or QB2 finishes in four of the last five weeks.  At RB Brad has his Dynamic Duo of RB#4 Bijan Robinson (18.98/game average) and RB#11 Chase Brown (15.52/game average).  If you look at Chase Brown since Zach Moss was put on IR? 22.34 per game.  But was it Zach Moss?  Or was it our Commissioner in his podcast saying that Chase Brown was not in the same Tier as James Cook.  Mike said that Bijan and Brown were not on the same tier as Cook and Hall.  Well, it turns out he was right!

At WR Brad has WR#10 Brian Thomas Jr, the Ole Miss shirtless duo of AJ Brown and DK Metcalf, who both have missed multiple weeks this season AND have underperformed to their expectations.  Then there is Jaylen Waddle who just started to heat up over the past 3 weeks and Amari Cooper who Brad traded for unknowing that he had suffered a freak wrist injury that would cause him to miss multiple weeks.

He’s here.  He doesn’t have high ranked players like the rest of the bracket.  But anything can happen in fantasy.  He rides his 5-1 record over the last 6 weeks into the juggernaut Adam in Round 1.

Which of the 6 teams will win it all?  Our Commissioner?  Our Inaugural Champion?  Adam with Josh Allen and Saquon Barkley?  Mike D and Brock Bowers?  Cuz with no depth?  Or the luckiest SOB over the past 6 weeks Brad?

BBY Dream Team Season 16 Draft Grades

Well, this draft went about how I expected it to go.  4th pick was a tough draw because the three running backs were going to go.  Plus, no running backs were going to drop to the 21st pick in the second.  Had to make some tough choices.  But I want to give credit where credit is due.  Being sandwiched between Scotty and Joe I got sniped early and often. Kudos to both for ensuring I have another season of mediocrity in store.  Reminder that these are my opinions and I’m mostly wrong.  But last year I was pretty right:

This is what I wrote about Chase’s draft last season:

***

Draft Grade: A.  Chase is better at this than us.  Legit chance at Title #4.

***

Here were my draft grades in order last season:

  1. Moose: A
  2. Chase: A
  3. Jen: B+
  4. Joe: B
  5. Kenny: B
  6. JD: B
  7. Katon: B-
  8. Scotty: C+
  9. Tommy: C
  10. Trey: C
  11. Mike: D-
  12. Brad: F

And how we finished:

  1. Chase
  2. Moose
  3. Kenny
  4. Joe
  5. Katon
  6. Scotty
  7. JD
  8. Mike
  9. Trey
  10. Brad
  11. Jen
  12. Tommy

It’s not 100% accurate, but it’s not bad.  On to this year!

1. Tommy.

Tommy was gifted the CMC.  Nothing to comment here.  CMC is a monster.  I’m not worried about a little calf strain either.

In the back of the 2nd and first pick of the 3rd he interrupted the 5 straight RB’s and took a pair of wideouts in Chris Olave and Davante Adams.  Olave finished last year as WR #19, Adams finished as WR #11.  Olave still has Carr at QB and Adams has Gardner Minshew.  Minshew isn’t going to put up Mahomes stats, but he was able to support Michael Pittman Jr last season to a Top 15 half ppr finish.

That same Michael Pittman Jr. fell to Tommy at the end of the 4th round.  Incredible value in these three picks, giving Tommy a solid trio at WR after the CMC pick.  He then took Aaron Jones to kick off the 5th round.  I wouldn’t have done this.  Jones has a chance to ball out and get revenge on his packers.  He was banged up last year and is going to be 30 in December.  Reports out of camp is the plan is for him to handle 15-18 touches per game, which is solid.  But will the Vikings be good with Sam Darnold at the helm?  To take him you passed on Malik Nabers, Brandon Aiyuk, DeVonta Smith and if you look RBs you took him over Zamir White, James Conner, Swift, and David Montgomery.  It could work, but that’s calling your shot type of call.

At the end of Round 6 you took Tank Dell and started the 7th round with Johnathan Brooks.  Brooks will probably sit the first four weeks, but new Panthers head coach David Canales wants to pound the rock.  And Brooks looked special in college before getting injured.  I liked Godwin over Tank here, but I get the allure of getting one of Stroud’s weapons after he balled out last year.  Diggs addition muddies the target projections a bit.

Round 8 you took DeAndre Hopkins and in Round 9 you picked up Jordan Love.  You drafted Brock Bowers at tight end in Round 10.  Rest wasn’t worth commenting on.

Draft Grade: B.  CMC and the trio of WRs you got will make you compete.  To be special you need to nail the later rounds and navigate the middle rounds correctly.  The season might come down to whether the Aaron Jones call was the right one.  Combined with how soon Johnathan Brooks can get going.  Solid draft.

2. Mike.

It was the best of times.  It was the worst of times.  Mike’s team is scary.  If you look at his first four picks.  Then like the thrill of climbing Everest.  He had to come back down and try not to die.  Loved taking Breece Hall at 2 overall.  I had him ranked 2 overall as well.  He runs angry.  He doesn’t smile.  He balled out last year.  Giddy up.  At the end of the 2nd you took PPR machine Alvin Kamara.  He missed 3 games to start the year last year and sat out Week 18, but finished as RB#14.  15 half ppr points per game average though.  Expanded over the whole season he would’ve finished RB #5.  In my ideal draft scenario I was picking him in the 3rd, but this is Best Buy where RBs go at least 1 round early.

In Round 3 you took Marvin Harrison Jr.  I love the Cardinals this year.  I think they take a step forward.  Kyler is healthier.  Added weapons like MHJ.  As you can see from my Murray, McBride, and Wilson picks I’m bullish on Cardinals this season.  The first player I ever drafted in Fantasy Football in August 2001 was Marvin Harrison.  I was tempted for nostalgia’s sake to take him in the 2nd, but I knew I had to get a RB.  MHJ should get high targets immediately and reminds me of CeeDee Lamb in terms of playing style.  His biggest comp was AJ Green, but either way he should get going early and often this season.

Loved the Anthony Richardson pick in Round 4.  I had a strategy to wait on Qbs this year since I feel like there are so many good ones, but if you are going to take one early they need to have Qb1 potential and Richardson has that.  Starting Richardson-Hall-Kamara-MHJ was great start.  Then.  It happened.  Instead of grabbing his stud WR2, Mike instead elected to go with Dalton Kincaid over Malik Nabers, Brandon Aiyuk, and DeVonta Smith.  What a shame.  Kincaid should get more targets with the loss of Stefon Diggs.  But Dawson Knox isn’t going away.  Keon Coleman and Curtis Samuel were added.  Then in Round 6 he had another opportunity to get a solid WR2.  Instead, he chose Javonte Williams.  I’m not big on Williams.  Think Jaleel McLaughlin takes a lot of work.  Rotation is gonna be a mess.  Rookie QB most likely starting.

Round 7 you took Calvin Ridley and in Round 8 you took Courtland Sutton.  So you have some wideouts, but man.  Feel like Rounds 5 and 6 took your team from favorite to win it to struggling to make the playoffs.  I could be wrong, we’ll see.  Loved the Ja’Lynn Polk pick in Round 14.

Draft Grade if I ignore Rounds 5 and 6: A.  Draft Grade when factoring in Rounds 5 and 6: C.

3. Joe.

Joe!  Bijan!  You bastard.  It was the right call.  Falcons passing attack should be improved.  Coaching should be improved.  According to Warren Sharp Falcons have the easiest schedule this season by far.  Raheem Morris has publicly said they want Bijan to have a CMC like role in the offense.  The passing game coordinator for the Rams that made Kyren Williams happen last year is the new OC.  Sky’s the limit as long as he doesn’t catch a cold or get a headache.  (missed two games last year but were active for both because Arthur Smith is an asshole).

In Round 2 you took Joe Mixon.  Mixon seems to have a lock on RB1 duties for a good-looking Texans team.  He could smash this season.  I hadn’t thought about Mixon vs. Kamara.  I think with half PPR Mixon is a good pick.  If it was full ppr I think it would sway to Kamara’s side.  I don’t hate it.  In Round 3 I wanted Kamara, LaPorta or Metcalf.  You took LaPorta one pick before me so I settled for DK.  I see no reason why LaPorta won’t replicate his TE#1 finish from a year ago.  He’s a monster.

In Round 4 you were handed a gift in the speedster Jaylen Waddle.  Your first WR taken is lightning in a bottle and can score at any moment.  Then in Round 5 you sniped me again by taking Malik Nabers.  Waddle-Nabers is a solid ass combo at WR.  You got good value in Brian Robinson in Round 6.  This also give you the coveted B. Robinson + B. Robinson combo.

In Round 7 you continued your assault on this draft by taking Chris Godwin, an incredible value.  Solid trio at WR despite waiting for them.  In Round 8 you took the ghost of Zeke Elliot.  He tried last year and has a chance to start for Dallas.  They haven’t made any other moves so right now it’s between him, Rico Dowdle, and Royce Freeman.  We’ll see if Rico pulls a Tony Pollard on Zeke or if Zeke can hang on to the top spot.  Lots of rumors about them potentially trading for a back like Miles Sanders or Khalil Herbert, so we’ll have to wait and see there.

Then in Round 9 a head scratcher.  Aaron Rodgers over Kyler Murray.  I wasn’t sure if this was a political move.  Like you were trying to combat White Dudes for Harris by taking Aaron Rodgers who was considered for RFK Jrs VP pick.  Later you did take Harrison Butker.  Low testosterone leftists aside I think Murray should have been taken over Rodgers.  Murray scrambles a bit and offense should see a leap forward.  Rodgers is coming off of that Achilles injury.  I was grateful because I took Murray with the next pick and got a little Cardinals stack.  But shit.  Joe you could’ve waited until the end of the draft for a Rodgers.  Goff and T Law went undrafted.  I have them both ranked higher than Rodgers.

Draft Grade: A-.  Rodgers pick and maybe 4th string RB Vidal were the only terrible picks I saw.  Other than that, you should compete in Division Poker Night.

4. Brad.

I hoped someone would take a WR so I could get one of the trio of RBs, but this is Best Buy and I was prepared for exactly what happened to happen.  A week ago, I was leaning JJ.  Then the JJ McCarthy news, the Addison news, the CB news.  Seems like Vikings are cursed and if it’s a lost season they may rest of up their highest paid non-QB stud.  Lamb was WR#1 last year, but has held out all camp.  Ja’Marr Chase is fun, but he’s held in all camp.  Tyreek went for 1700 yards last year, is signed, and practicing, so it was the conservative choice.  Nothing conservative about Tyreek’s ability to impregnate women though.  Fast runner equals fast swimmers, boys.  Big play bonus potential in this league helped my decision.

In Round 2 I wanted Henry or Etienne to fall, but again, I knew this was Best Buy.  Neither happened.  I prepared for it and made peace with my decision of James Cook.  Cook was the bell cow last year when Joe Brady took over play calling for the Bills.  Only problem was Latavius Murray.  Cook would be used to get to redzone then they would take him out.  I’m banking on some of that, but maybe less now that his backups are all rookies?  Maybe?  I think Bills defense takes a big step back this year and Cook can catch more passes out of the backfield, we’ll see.

In Round 3 I really wanted Sam LaPorta.  Joe decided that wouldn’t be happening, so I fell back on DK Metcalf.  Many of my mocks had McBride falling to me in the 4th, so I went WR.  Metcalf isn’t a sexy pick.  He’s huge.  Alpha X.  But gets doubled and hasn’t performed like a Top 10 WR in the NFL.  But he’s consistently a WR2 and with the new head coach from Washington who had a 60% pass rate, we’ll see if that translates to more volume for the 8-pack monster who uses sign language to shit talk after scoring touchdowns.

In Round 4 Trey McBride did indeed fall to me.  Liked McBride at 4.9 better than Kelce and Andrews in the 3rd.  Of course, I could’ve had a Kelce-Waddle combo over a Metcalf-McBride combo, so it’ll be interesting for me to watch and see if I whiffed on this one.  I have Waddle in dynasty, and I didn’t want the Tyreek-Waddle combo.

In Round 5 I took a discount on Brandon Auyik.  The shit or get off the pot offseason means he’ll either stay with 49ers or head to Arthur Smith’s Steelers.  Auyik was WR#14 last year and WR#15 the year before that.  Another boring, but solid WR for fantasy purposes.  Giving Brad the Tyreek-Metcalf-Auyik trio, which is pretty good.  If he gets traded to Steelers I think he takes a hit, but I don’t think the move makes sense for the 49ers.  I predict they sign him and the drama dies in darkness.

In Round 6 I was targeting Amari Cooper but Moose made sure that didn’t happen.  I took Terry McLaurin instead.  McLaurin is another not sexy WR.  His best finish was WR#14 in 2022 and last year he was a WR3 ranked #28.  I think Jayden Daniels has a chance to electrify this offense.  In Round 7 I pulled a Brad with a pretty significant reach.  I took Jerome Ford.  The Free Agent Darling of Chase last year.  I typically bank on RBs that are coming off of devastating knee injuries to start slow and Ford is actually pretty damn good, so I was okay with him being my RB2 to start the season.  Even if Chubb comes back I don’t see Ford just going away.  I imagine there will be some sort of split that would provide him some value.  If Chubb starts the year on IR then Ford pick looks good.  If Chubb is active and starting Week 1 then this could be a huge swing and a miss.  Wide range of outcomes.

In Round 8 I loved the value in Tony Pollard.  Seems like the Titans are going to be an electrifying offense and have two pass catching backs that are going to split time evenly.  Pollard is now a full year and a half removed from his broken ankle and his main competition Tyjae Spears has no knee cartilage.  In Round 9 I took Kyler Murray for the Murray-McBride stack.  Rounds 10, 11, 12 took fliers at RB.

Draft Grade: C.  I agree with ESPN.  Last year Brad went WR-WR, then panicked and took RBs in the middle rounds where solid WRs went.  This year he did better.  Getting 1 to appease the panic demon in his brain, which led him to the Metcalf, Auyik, McLaurin depth.  But it looks like he’ll be figuring out RB again this year.  He’ll probably blame the fact that he was 4th pick instead of taking personal ownership.  Look for Brad to be fighting for a 6th seed late into the season.

5. Scotty

Scotty did well.  Loved Ja’Marr Chase pick.  Rachaad White at 2.8 was a bit early for me, but he had great volume last year and was RB#7.  All signs point to him repeating a high-volume role, despite a not so great efficiency last year.  In Round 3 you took Josh Jacobs.  This could be a great pick.  Historically when RBs change teams they don’t do as well. (https://www.fantasylabs.com/articles/raybon-should-you-target-or-avoid-rbs-on-new-teams/)  But Jacobs is an upgrade over Aaron Jones.  The Packers offense is young and exciting.  When it gets cold they will turn to Jacobs early and often.  Could be good, could be great.

In Round 4 you got tremendous value in Cooper Kupp.  When Kupp and Puka were both playing last year it was almost a dead even split.  Puka is banged up and went in Round 2.  In Round 5 you took young stud CJ Stroud.  An impressive rookie with 499 pass attempts last season with only 5 interceptions.  That is freaking nuts.  They add Stefon Diggs and Joe Mixon to his weapons.

In Round 6 he took Najee Harris, which was a great pick for his 3rd rb.  Harris has rushed for over 1000 yards and 7 or more touchdowns every season in his career. His passing volume has gone down as Jaylen Warren’s has gone up, but he still finished as RB#20 last year.

In Round 7 Scotty takes Diontae Johnson.  I think he’ll get a lot of catches this season.  Panthers are going to be bad.  Adam Theilen is a year older.  I like it.  Then David Njoku in Round 8.  Njoku was a monster last year.  Now the OC for the Browns is now the OC for the Patriots.  But Browns brought in Ken Dorsey from the Bills for the OC spot.  They also signed a bunch of QBs in case Watson sucks again.  They have Tyler Huntley and Jameis Winston in case Watson can’t hand-le it.  Get it?  Hollywood Brown in Round 9.  He’ll miss the beginning of the season with a shoulder ailment, but he’ll be back at some point.  He should have his best season this year with Mahomes at QB.  Then in Round 10 Scotty jacked Gus Bus from me.  That one hurt me.  A lot.  Scotty crushed this draft.

Draft Grade: A.  If Scotty hits on his White/Jacobs/Najee RB trio he’ll compete for a title.

6. JD

Dizzle lands Lamb, last year’s #1 WR who helped Chase claim his 4th title.  Lamb is holding out for a new contract, so we’ll see if Jerry Jones and him get their shit together and work it out or not.  Love the pick and would have made the same one.  In Round 2 you got Derrick Henry.  Henry should smash for the Ravens this season.  If Gus Edwards can rush for 810 yards and 13 touchdowns then what can the King do?  If teams stack the box against them they’ll have to worry about Lamar’s legs, Zay Flowers, Mark Andrews, and Rashod Bateman.

In Round 3 you took Drake London.  London is immensely talented, but it hasn’t materialized into fantasy gold yet due to atrocious QB play.  Cousins will be the best QB he’s played with and it’s not even close.  This is a big call here by JD though.  London has finished as WR#36 and WR#39 in two NFL seasons.  He was taken before Nico Collins (WR#9 last year), DJ Moore (WR#6 last year), Deebo Samuel (WR#12 last year), Mike Evans (WR#5 last year), and Cooper Kupp who was rough last year but was smashing the years before that.  Now as I mentioned in Joe’s section the Falcons have the easiest schedule this season and other than Kyle Pitts and Darnell Mooney, London should have the lion’s share of targets.  JD plants his flag and says London WILL breakout in Year 3 and will be better than all of the wideouts I mentioned.  We’ll see.  DJ Moore has more competition for targets, but a better QB.  Nico has more competition for targets with Stefon Diggs in town.  Kupp has Puka there now.  Mike Evans should regress TD wise.  We’ll see.

In Round 4 JD took Rhamondre Stevenson.  He got paid this offseason like the now and future starter.  One must worry a little bit about Antonio Gibson’s role.  Gibson can be a decent 3rd down back.  The other thing to worry about is the Patriots might be terrible again.  They have one of the hardest schedules in the NFL this season looking at implied win total.  The hope is volume with Rhamondre.  But with Gibson there and them most likely being behind in 4th quarters I don’t know if I could’ve pulled the trigger over the Cooper Kupp, Jaylen Waddles, and Malik Nabers of the world that were available at the time.

JD then went Tee Higgins.  Higgins, like London, has yet to breakout.  He has finishes of WR#30, 22, 17, and last year’s WR#49.  He has all the talent, but between Burrow’s injury and his last year it hasn’t materialized yet.  His contract status is weird too.  He’ll play on the franchise tag this year as the Bengals made it obvious they want to play him one more year, try to win a title then let him walk when they sign Chase to his long term deal.  We’ll see if the potential materializes into production this season.

In Round 6 you doubled down on the Falcan’ts and took proverbial bust Kyle Pitts.  Another guy with potential who hasn’t lived up to it.  In his rookie year he had 1026 yards receiving, but only 1 touchdown.  In Years 2 and 3 combined he had 1023 yards.  In Round 7 you took Dak Prescott to get the Cowboys stack of Dak-Lamb.  Twas potent last season with Dak finishing QB#3 and Lamb finishing WR#1.

In Round 8 you took JSN.  He should carve out more targets away from Tyler Lockett this season.  Don’t think he overcomes DK, but Lockett definitely.  I liked Devin Singletary in Round 9, he balled out for the Texans at times last season and should hold on to RB#1 duties for the G Men.  Just have to hope they don’t suck.  Jaleel McLaughlin was a decent RB dart throw in Round 10.

Draft Grade: C+.  Love the Dak-Lamb stack, hoping they work out the contracts.  Henry is a great RB#1.  Need a big Falcons and Cowboys season to compete for a title this year.

7. Chase.

The reigning and four-time champion of the WORLLLDDDDDDDDDDDD…. CHASE SIMS!  Chase rejoins the Johnathan Taylor Thomas fan club this year.  JT is LOCKED IN.  Wearing those retarded looking helmets during preseason to ensure he’s healthy.  He legitimately can lead the league in rushing yards this year.  I’ve seen some experts throwing out 1800 rushing yards.  The only concern is he didn’t catch many passes.  Will just have to hope Richardson doesn’t take too many rushing TDs away from JT this year.  I understand reaching for a RB in this league though.  In Round 2 Puka Nacua fell to you.  His slide most likely due to his bursa sac knee injury.  All signs point to him being ready for Week 1, although they might be a bit cautious with his snap count.  Cooper Kupp is also back and healthy so we’ll see if Puka can repeat his rookie phenom season or if he backtracks a bit in Year 2.

In Round 3 Chase took the 34-year-old Pfizer representative dating a rich, crazy cat lady that may help usher in a new terrifying form of communism into the country… sorry what were we talking about?  Kelce right.  Chase takes Kelce who despite missing a couple games last season still finished as TE#3 extending his streak of consecutively Top 3 TE finishes to 8 seasons.  He seems locked in as the Chiefs try to do the unthinkable and win a 3rd straight championship.

In Round 4 you had Mike Evans fall to you.  Here are all of Mike Evans fantasy finishes starting from his rookie season to now: WR#12, 23, 1, 19, 9, 12, 10, 8, 16, 5.  In Round 5 Chase takes Zamir White.  White should be the bellcow for the Raiders this season as they only brought in Alexander Mattison and drafted Dylan Laube as his competition.  Laube could carve a 3rd down role for himself, but White should be the new Jacobs for Coach Antonio Pierce.

In Round 6 Chase took Joe Burrow.  We are all hoping Burrow is fully healthy after that weird hand grip/wrist surgery he needed.  He seems like everything is good to go, so hopefully he gets back to tearing it up on the field.  Thought it was a little early for a QB in my opinion, but Burrow is fun to root for.  Geaux Tigers!  After that Chase went Keenan Allen who I shat on last year right before he popped off for a WR#8 finish in only 13 games of action, averaging over 17 points per game.  We’ll see how Caleb distributes the ball for the Bears, but with Rome and DJ Moore locked in long term it seems Allen is just a 1-year rental.  Do you throw him the ball a bunch to use and abuse him or do you work on your rapport with your buddies that will be with you long term?

In Round 8 Chase made his choice for the Titans with Tyjae Spears.  Spears showed flashes of brilliance last year while backing up Derrick Henry.  Spears hype train was derailed a bit this offseason when the Titans signed redundant Tony Pollard to a 3 year $21.75 milly contract.  Pollard is a better catcher than runner and Spears last year caught 52/70 targets for 385 receiving yards and a tuddy.  All offseason I’ve seen it’s a 1A and 2A situation where they will be interchangeable.  But if Brian Callahan splits the work and airs it out more than previous Derrick Henry/Mike Vrabel seasons then it should be a fun show to watch.  And if one of them gets hurt, look out.

In Round 9 Chase took Nick Chubb.  We’ll see if Chubb can return to former glory after having his leg nearly break off last year in Week 2 bending like this greater than sign, but in the wrong direction >  .  He’s a grinder so I won’t bet on him not coming back, but if I’m the browns I’m not giving him 30 carries any time soon.

Rather than share the knee pictures, here is a picture from the movie “The Arrival” to demonstrate what the knee looked like:

In Round 10 Chase took Jameson Williams.  Decent WR depth piece.  Not much to say about the rest.

Draft Grade: B-.  Age is just a number, but going Kelce-Evans-Allen-Chubb makes me believe you are trying to cheat death.  But death comes to us all.  Memento Mori.  Which of the vets mentioned will fall off the cliff of fantasy production this year and suffer their doom?

8. Moose.

Welcome to Team Brads, Dads, and Chads, Moose.  Glad to have you.  In Round 1 Moose goes the Sun God, Amon-Ra St. Brown.  CMC-like energy after watching Receiver on Netflix.  Very impressed by his grind.  I would’ve gone JJ here, but Amon-Ra is less likely to be shut down for their team being dog shit like the Vikings might be.

In Round 2 another God shined down on you and dropped Jahmyr Gibbs in your lap.  I was honestly thinking about reaching for Gibbs at #4 until his hammy injury.  Although not serious, it was enough for me to go WR.  But tremendous value in the 2nd round.  Go Lions.  In Round 3 you went Mark Andrews.  It didn’t work last year, but maybe it will this year.  Andrews missed a couple games in 2022, but was fighting injury all year and finished TE#4.  Last year was same story, missing 7 games and finishing as TE#13.  His per game fantasy point average is there.  He just needs to stay on the field.

In Round 4 you took Josh Allen.  Josh Allen’s QB finishes the past 4 seasons: Qb#1, 1, 2, 1.  That’s pretty fucking great.  In Round 5 another gift.  Devonta Smith drops in your lap.  Smith was WR#20 last year, regressing a bit from his sophomore campaign, but in comes Kellen Moore for OC.  The same Kellen Moore that led to Keenan Allen’s blow-up last year.  Will AJ Brown remain X and will they put Smith in the valuable move him all around role? It’s possible, which means Smith could smash his ADP.  In Round 6 you sniped my target in Amari Cooper.   Cooper finishes WR#18, but missed a couple games.  He also had that 15 target, 11 catch, 265 yard, 2 touchdown game against the Texans in Week 16 that shot Chase into the championship game.  Interesting that in Round 4 Moose took Josh Allen one pick before Chase and in Round 6 Moose took Cooper one pick before Chase, since they were both on Chase’s championship team last year.

Round 7 you took always underrated Raheem Mostert.  In Round 8 you took Xavier Worthy.  Round 9 Chase Brown.  I think Zach Moss is a perfect fit in that offense.  Everyone keeps saying Brown is the guy, but unless Zach Moss is dead I don’t think Brown is as big a thing as people are letting on.  We’ll see though.  In Round 10 you took Brian Thomas Jr…

***Soap Box Time. Here is an excerpt from my dynasty league draft grades from earlier this summer after I took BTJ 6th overall:

***

While doing my film watching I saw an absolute stud.  Many people think he played second fiddle to Nabers and couldn’t do all the things that Nabers could do.  But man.  His jump balls for touchdowns, his jukes in the middle.  Dude can play.  Nabers/Thomas have a legit chance to replicate Chase/JJ.  I also saw this comparison and wet my pants:

GetImage (3)

And then of course Establish the Run didn’t help either:

GetImage (4)

Now I don’t truly think Thomas is going to be JJ.  JJ is in a tier by himself.  But I’ll take a sliver of a chance.  He takes Ridley’s WR18 role right away.  Ridley did that with a lot of close misses and with T Law banged up most of the year.  What can Thomas do with a healthy T-Law?***

***

And we are back.  Fuck you Moose for taking him I wanted him.  Moose got great value with Chuba Hubbard in Round 11 and Rashid Shaheed in Round 12.

Draft Grade: A-.  Didn’t care for Andrews pick, but this team is deep and good.  Moose was like a spider with a web in the middle rounds this year.  Catching players that shouldn’t be there by us idiots that didn’t pick them.  Are we really doing this?  Is Moose gonna compete for Title #5 for fuck’s sake?

9. Trey.

T-Money has another chance to go JJ and says no again.  Last year he had #1 pick and took Bijan.  This year he goes Barkley over JJ.  Why do you hate JJ Trey?  He likes video games.  Sets records.  Has drip.  Barkley could easily have his best season ever but will depend on Hurts and how many tuddies get stolen by the Tush Push.

In Round 2 you took De’Von Achane over Jahymr Gibbs.  You took… Achane over Gibbs.  You took a backup RB who is always hurt over Gibbs.  Mostert ran for 18 touchdowns last season.  They drafted Jaylen Wright.  In Weeks 3-5 last year Achane scored 99.8 fantasy points and was RB#1, 5, and 4 those weeks.  Then he got hurt and missed 4-5 weeks.  When he came back from Weeks 13-18 he scored 87.5 points was RB#3, 24, 29, 52, 8, 21.  Mostert resigned.  Drafted Wright.  Over Gibbs.  Now Moose has Gibbs.  Moose, who has won 4 titles.  Started AMSB-Gibbs.

In Round 3 you took Jalen Hurts due to an irrational fear of Hurts taking all of Barkley’s touchdowns.  😉  In Round 4 you took Deebo Samuel.  He was my target in Round 4, so damnit.  In Round 5 you took James Conner.  Not a sexy pick, but decent volume.  Almost like the exact opposite of De’Von Achane.

In Round 6 you took Jayden Reed.  Reed is in the slot and should be the most consistent out of the Packers wideouts, but the ball will be spread around.  You taking him in Round 6 over Amari Cooper, Terry McLaurin is a saying you know he is the Packers #1 WR.  Even though no one knows if he is the #1 WR, you know and that’s all that matters.  Unless of course you’re wrong.  Rashee Rice in Round 7 might be the steal of the draft if he avoids suspension.  Christian Kirk in Round 8.  Pretty good.  In preseason BTJ and Davis were lined up in 2 WR sets, so something to monitor.  Blake Corum in Round 9 hurt me physically.  Wanted him and I see him as the #1 handcuff this season.  I’ll talk more about Corum in Kenny’s write up since he took Kyren Williams.  Taysom Hill in Round 10 might have been sneaky good.  TE finishes last 4 years: TE#4, #13, #5, #10.

Draft Grade: D.  Achane sucks.

10. Jen.

Jen gets JJ again!  For the 3rd year in a row Jen takes JJ to start the draft.  People are concerned with Sam Darnold at QB and injuries to Jordan Addison and TJ Hockenson to start the season.  But JJ is a monster.  His finishes have been WR#5, WR#4, WR#1 and last years WR#29.  But he missed 7 games.  He averaged 16.82 per game.  If he had played all 17 and kept up that average he would’ve finished WR#5.  So despite Cousins missing a significant portion of the season last year, JJ was still balling.

In Round 2 she went with Isiah Pacheco.  Pacheco finished as RB#16 last year.  The Chiefs defense got worse in the offseason in my opinion.  And all signs point to them passing more and having more shootouts.  Pacheco is the starting running back on a very good football team.  That’s a good asset to have.  But in my rankings I had Gibbs and Henry ahead of him.

In Round 3 Jen takes Nico Collins.  3rd year breakout last year was great.  Finished as WR#9.  The concern for a repeat this season is the addition of Stefon Diggs in the offseason.  But Nico got a contract extension and he’s the #1.  I think Diggs provides depth and a true 2nd wideout for 2 WR sets opposed to Tank Dell who is like a mighty mouse/speedster.

DJ Moore was a great pick in Round 4.  Continues to be underrated.  In Round 5 you stuck with the Bears going Swift.  I have concerns about Swift, but not enough to dock you for him.  Evan Engram in Round 6 was okay.  Warren in Round 7 was great.  Jayden Daniels in Round 8 was another great pick.  If Jayden can stay healthy, he has Top 5 Fantasy QB potential.  Got some rookies.  Got a decent handcuff in Gibson.

Draft Grade: B.  Solid draft Jen.  I can see you winning Division 3 and sticking it to Joe, Tommy, and JD.

11. Katon.

Katon!  AJ Brown-Garret Wilson start.  I started like this last year with my AJ Brown-Amon-Ra St. Brown start.  My team sucked.  But I whiffed on T-Law, Ridley, every running back I chose.  It was bad.  Let’s see how you fair.  AJ Brown is a beast.  Enjoy!  Wilson hasn’t lived up to his ADP, but Rodgers being healthy would go a long way.

Kenneth Walker III isn’t a bad consolation prize for RB 1 in Round 3.  In his first two NFL seasons he’s finished RB #16 and RB#19 despite missing 2 games in each season.  Maybe this year he can be healthy all year and outperform his draft position.

I was a little surprised by the Lamar Jackson pick in Round 4.  Jackson over Allen.  Bold move cotton. Jackson’s finishes over past 4 years: QB#10, 15, 14, and 4.  Allens (as mentioned previously) finishes the past 4 seasons: Qb#1, 1, 2, 1.  Does Katon know something we don’t?  Because I thought adding Derrick Henry might take away a little of Jackson’s rushing.  And Josh Allen’s Bills might have their worst defense in years with all the guys they’ve lost this offseason.  So Moose got Josh Allen.

In Round 5 you took David Montgomery, which is great value.  In Round 6 you went George Kittle.  Montgomery isn’t a sexy pick, but finished RB#13 last year despite missing 3 weeks.  He scored 13 rushing touchdowns.  Kittle was quiet last year and yet still finished as TE#5.  That gives him 3 seasons in a row finishing as a Top 5 Fantasy Tight End.  With his playing style he has played exactly 1 full NFL season in 7.  But he does tough it out and suits up for most of them.  Also, if you watched Receiver on Netflix you know he isn’t afraid to get an injection and go back out there and throw his body around to help his team win.

In Round 7 you took Austin Ekeler.  I mean, it could work?  Brian Robinson should be the starter, but I think Ekeler plays and has a role.  He’s also a very valuable handcuff if Brian Robinson gets hurt or shot…again.

Addison in Round 9 is okay.  Might get in trouble due to DUI and might have high ankle sprain.  JK Dobbins in Round 10 over Gus Edwards was interesting.  Gus Bus is #1 on that depth chart and I don’t think he is gonna lose that spot unless he gets hurt.  Dobbins is coming off of an Achilles tear which has been a sign of death for running backs.  Advancements in technologies have come along way, but Dobbins is more machine than man at this point with the screws in his knee and whatever they did to his ankle.

Draft Grade: B.  Core of Lamar Jackson-Kenneth Walker-David Montgomery-AJB-Garret Wilson-Kittle is solid as hell.  I worry about the Jackson over Allen and Dobbins over Gus Edward picks and depth.  Specifically, RB depth.

12. Kenny.

Last but not least!  Kenny going with two Top 6 RBs from a year ago in Kyren Williams and Travis Etienne Jr.  Look at you!  Kyren finished as RB#6 last year despite missing 3 weeks.  His average fantasy points per game (19.9) was #2 amongst Running Backs only behind CMC.  Now the passing game coordinator of the Rams is now the OC of the Falcons.  And the Rams did draft Blake Corum from Michigan.  Corum of course scored 27 touchdowns last year and helped end Nick Saban’s career with this run:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0NBDegpbe90

And Kyren was dealing with a foot injury this offseason.  But if he can stay healthy and hold off Corum he should continue to smash.  Etienne was RB#3 last year.  His efficiency was dog shit as he only averaged 3.8 yards per carry, but he caught 58 passes on 73 targets, scored 12 total touchdowns, and played in every game.  He was my hopeful target in the 2nd round, but I knew there was no chance in hell he would fall to me.  Kenny ensured I was correct.

In Round 3 went Stefon Diggs and then Patrick Mahomes at 4.1.  This was egregious in my opinion.  I get the RB-RB start, but Diggs was a terrible pick.  Over DJ Moore.  Over Deebo Samuel.  Over Cooper Kupp.  Over Mike Evans.  Over Jaylen Waddle.  Over Michael Pittman Jr.  Over Malik Nabers.  If Diggs finishes higher than any of those players this season (unless they get injured*) I’ll send you $5.00.  Yall heard it here folks.  It’s in writing.  $5.00 bet for Kenny where I’m guaranteeing he made a terrible pick.  Diggs will most likely be the 3rd highest targeted player on the Texans.  The other players I mentioned will be first highest player on their teams for targets minus Waddle probably.  Now choosing Mahomes over Allen is interesting.  Mahomes doesn’t run as much unless game is on the line in the Super Bowl.  Allen runs all the time.  But Mahomes should see increased pass volume this year and has added weapons.  If there defense isn’t championship caliber I could see Mahomes breaking some passing records like yardage or touchdowns.  (Not likely, but possible).  His weapons have greatly improved.   I won’t dock you too much for Mahomes over Allen and Jackson, but I will dock you big time for the Diggs whiff.

Round 5 you chose youth with Pickens and Zay Flowers.  Right now they seem like #1 targets on their teams.  In Round 7 you took Jake Ferguson and Round 8 Zach Moss.  I liked both of these picks.  It was a little early for Ferguson, but he has Top 5 TE potential.  He showed what he could do against the Packers last year when he scored 3 times.  Of course the Packers were up by so much it didn’t matter, but Ferguson is good.  I have him in dynasty and am happy for it.  Moss was good too.  Moss averaged 11 points per game and played admirably in relief of Johnathan Taylor for the Colts.  Moss’s playing style matches the Bengals offense too.  There’s a lot of Chase Brown smoke, but I think Moss carves out a big role for himself on that Bengals offense.

Solid picks with Tyler Allgeier and Ladd McConkey.  Curtis Samuel in Round 14 was nice.

Draft Grade: C+.  Diggs picked ruined it.  Looking at your team right now on the ESPN app.  If I saw DJ Moore or Cooper Kupp where Diggs is in your lineup I’d think I was looking at a contender.  1 pick shouldn’t sink your whole season, but it might have been the worst pick of the draft.  I don’t see Diggs finishing as a Top 25 receiver this year.  I see all the guys you passed on being Top 20 receivers.  Just baffling to me.

Round 1 Preview

  1. Kenny! (12-2) BYE
  2. Chase (10-4) BYE

6. Joe (8-6) vs. 3. Katon (7-7)

These two teams met in Week 9 with Joe getting the victory 121.5 to 108.8.  Joe being led by the incomparable Christian McCaffrey, the #1 Fantasy Football RB by Far.  He averages 5.4 more points per game then the #2 RB, who Joe ALSO has in Raheem Mostert.  Joe’s weakness has been Wide Receiver.  And it doesn’t help that he lost Christian Kirk to a torn nut sack a couple weeks ago.  Also at QB he’s starting Baker Mayfield @ Green Bay.  Last time CMC played Arizona he dropped 48.2 fantasy points against them.  Kyler Murray is back and the San Fran defense is banged up and might be without their top two safeties.  Shootout potential could elevate CMC to a similar performance.  Katon is hoping Ja’Marr Chase can continue to ride Jake Browning’s hot streak.  Chase is WR#5 on the season despite having a hobbled and then later lost Joe Burrow.  A surprise gem has been Michael Pittman’s consistency.  He now has 6 straight games of at least 8 catches putting him at WR#11 on the season.  He also has #2 Tight End TJ Hockenson.  Vikings announced this week that Nick Mullens will be starting for the Vikings.  When Nick Mullens was the starting Quarterback of the 49ers in 2018 George Kittle broke the single season receiving yards record for a Tight End.  Despite the juggernaut that is Joe’s two running backs, Katon’s pass catchers make this a closer game than some might realize.  I would be remiss to not mention Patrick Mahomes’s recent struggles.  It doesn’t help that he will playing @ New England who has shut down Fantasy Quarterbacks for the most part over the past 4 weeks.  5.5 vs. Indy, 10.2 vs. NYG, 7.9 vs. LAC, and 20.6 vs. Pittsburgh and Mitchell Trubisky.  Something to note on that last one.  Trubisky ran for 30 yards and a rushing td and got a 2 point conversion.  I would lessen expectations on the defending Super Bowl Champion QB.  As of this writing ESPN has both teams projected exactly 115.9.  Who will win and move on to face #2 Chase?!??!

  1. Mustafa (9-5) vs. 4. Scotty (10-4)

Super Bowl 2 rematch in Season 15.  Love it.  The 4-Time Champion Mustafa has his double Rams stack ready to deploy against a Washington secondary that’s starting scrubs.  #10 WR and Rookie Phenom Puka Nacua is HIM.  Averaging 15.3 fantasy points per game with a juicy matchup.  Cow-a-bung-a.  Oh in case Stafford decides to throw it around Moose also has Cooper Kupp who is averaging 11.6 points per game.  Moose’s kryptonite might be whether or not Kyren Williams steals all the tuddies this week.  He’ll also feature #5 Qb Lamar Jackson on Sunday Night Football @ Jacksonville in a big AFC showdown.  #9 RB Breece Hall @ Miami.  In Week 12’s matchup with the fins he didn’t score, but managed 8.4 fantasy points on the back of 7 receptions.  #13 RB Tony Pollard is @ Buffalo who has been middle of the pack against fantasy RBS so far this season.  A big story to watch will be whether Moose has his other rookie phenom De’Von Achane.  He’s on the injury report with a toe injury and is Questionable as of this writing.  But what an explosive back.  If Achane can’t go look for Moose to deploy Achane Lite in Keaton Mitchell.  Similar builds and speed but plays on the Ravens.  Moose also has Kyle “He’s a Bust while he is in Atlanta” Pitts who caught a random touchdown last week against Tampa Bay’s porous defense.  Carolina does a decent job stopping opposing Tight Ends including stopping Kyle Pitts in Week 1 with only 2 receptions for 44 yards.  Also, the Panthers defense has been getting healthier, so lessen expectations for the bust.  On Scotty’s side all eyes are on Tyreek Hill.  The #1 Fantasy WR on pace for over 2000 yards receiving and averaging 23.7 points per game was hobbled last week against the Titans.  Against the Jets in Week 12 he did his normal thing with 23.9 fantasy points.  Let’s be honest.  If Scotty doesn’t have Tyreek then Scotty is not going to win.  I can empathize with you Scotty.  Last year I lost Jalen Hurts who was averaging 30 points per game at the time and had to lock in Brock Purdy (not this year’s version).  IF Scotty has Tyreek then he’ll hope Tua will find him early and often.  Scotty also has the resurgent Zeke Elliot against Kansas City and #11 RB Alvin Kamara against the giants.  Kamara is averaging 17 points per game and has 63 receptions so far this season.  Scotty has a lot of injuries to monitor with Hill, Brown, and Watson all questionable.  He has some pieces on the bench, but won’t have JT or Rhamondre this week.  He may deploy Ty Chandler if Alexander Mattison is ruled out due to an ankle injury, which would be an exciting start.  In Week 11 Scotty won a low scoring game 98.1 to 95.3.  Does Tyreek play?  Does Scotty get revenge for Super Bowl 2?  Does Moose have Achane or Achane Lite?  Who will move on to face the juggernaut 12-2 Kenny Williams?!?!?!?

Bottom Bowl:

  1. Mike (6-8) vs. 7 JD (7-7)

Winner moves on to Game 1 of Round 2 and is guaranteed at least 3 balls in next years draft lottery.  Loser moves to Game 2 of Round 2 and has the widest range of outcomes 1-6 balls.

  1. Trey (5-9) vs. 9. Tommy (5-9)

Winner moves on to Game 1 of Round 2 and is guaranteed at least 3 balls in next years draft lottery.  Loser moves to Game 3 of Round 2 and is eliminated from a chance to get 5 or 6 balls.

  1. Jen (2-12) vs. 11. Brad (3-11)

Winner moves on to Game 2 of Round 2 and has the widest range of outcomes 1-6 balls.  Loser moves to Game 3 of Round 2 and is eliminated from a chance to get 5 or 6 balls.

Best of Luck Everybody!

BBY Dream Team Season 15 Week 1 Preview

Let’s Ride!

JD (0-0) vs. Katon (0-0)

Super Bowl Champion JD!  All Hail!  Battle of two men who could crush me with their pinky fingers.  JD has Daniel Jones against Dallas on Sunday Night Football and Katon has Patrick Mahomes on Thursday Night Football against Detroit.  Mahomes plays like a God in Week 1.  Him and Jared Goff had that epic Mexico City game that ended 54-51 or something crazy like that.  Could this be another lightning and explosive game?  Jones didn’t do great against Dallas last season so I give the advantage to Katon.  At Running back JD has Barkley also against the Dallas Cowboys on SNF and Rachaad White vs. Minnesota.  White is a volume play but the offensive line is bad and Baker Mayfield is the Qb.  Katon has Joe Mixon against the Browns and James Conner against the Commanders.  Mixon should perform well.  Conner is a volume play but the offensive line is bad and Clayton Tune might be the Qb?  Gross.  At Wide Receiver JD has Davante Adams and DeVonta Smith.  Love the combo.  Adams plays Denver and Smith is @ New England.  Katon has Ja’Marr Chase @ Cleveland and he currently has Terry McLaurin in at WR2, but I don’t know if he’s going to be ready to go with that turf toe injury he suffered in the preseason.  At TE JD has George Kittle, but rumor is he won’t be able to play in Week 1 due to injury.  JD does not have a backup TE, so he might have to move Kittle to IR and pick up a free agent to start in Week 1.  Katon has TJ Hockenson who just signed a massive contract to become the highest paid tight end in the league.  Target monster post trade last season, look for him to pick up where he left off while Jordan Addison is getting acclimated to the NFL.  I don’t know if they’ll have to throw a lot against Tampa Bay though.  In the Flex JD has Kenneth Walker against the Rams.  Last year he got hurt in the first game against the Rams.  In the second game he rushed 29 times for 114 yards.   Katon has Isiah Pacheco against Detroit.  Detroit’s run defense was actually pretty good to end the season last year.  Let’s see what they can do against the Chiefs.  JD has Bill’s D/ST and Tyler Bass playing on Monday Night Football against Aaron Rodgers’ Jets.  Katon has Ravens D/ST against CJ Stroud who bombed the S2 Cognitive Test and plays on one of the worst rosters in the NFL.  Ravens have injuries to their secondary so this could be a shootout, but I see Baltimore smashing the Texans in Week 1. Katon has Matt Gay against Jacksonville in the Dome.

Mike (0-0) vs. Jen (0-0)

Battle of the 0 Super Bowls!  (Sorry guys).  I love this matchup.  Mike has Justin Herbert in a shootout against Miami.  Herbert regressed last year in Season 3 due to rib and cartilage injuries.  His rushing stats dropped tremendously, and his touchdowns went down.  I like them to shoot back up this year with Kellen Moore as OC.  Look for his big arm to be highlighted on Sportscenter consistently and I think he starts off big with 3 touchdowns in week 1.  Jen has Deshaun Watson against division rival Cincy.  Watson has looked a little shaky this offseason, so I’m curious to see how he performs Week 1.  Mike has Derrick Henry against New Orleans and Jahymr Gibbs vs. Kansas City.  Will be interesting to see how the Lions backfield shakes out as it has a huge implication on Mike and I’s RB2 spot this season.  Henry should do his normal thing unless the Saints go up early and game script Henry out of the game.  (Could happen with Tennessee’s defense being hot garbage).   Jen has Travis Etienner Jr. against Indy and Javonte Williams vs. Las Vegas.  Jacksonville should beat Indy easily in Week 1 because they are the better team.  Etienne should be used to run out the clock, but I won’t be surprised if he’s pulled late in the game.  For Williams it will be interesting to see how much work he gets.  He had major knee surgery last year.  I don’t see Denver opening the season and giving him the ball 30 times, so what’ll it be?  10 touches? 15? 20?  We’ll find out.  Mike has Garret Wilson on MNF against the Bills and Keenan Allen in that Miami shootout game.  Jen has JJ versus Tampa Bay and Tee Higgins vs. Cleveland.  Love all these wideouts and look for all of them to have above average games in Week 1.  At TE Mike has Pat Freiermuth and Jen has Darren “The Baller” Waller.  Pat usually gets a few catches per game, but I’m concerned that his TD total might stay low with the addition of Darnell Washington.  They could throw him and Pickens on the same side and just throw the ball up and see what happens.  For Jen Darren Waller is a smash start on Sunday Night Football.  Tough matchup against a good Dallas defense, but I still like Waller to get 7-8 targets in Week 1.  Mike has Pats D/ST against the Eagles (good luck with that) and Jen has Packers D/ST against the Bears.  They got exactly 10 points in each games last year against the Bears, so I predict they get 10 points for Jen.  Mike has Eagles kicker Jake Elliot and Jen has Daniel Carlson at altitude.  Advantage Jen.  Should be a great game, but I have a feeling Jen gets the Week 1 W.

Tommy (0-0) vs. Scotty (0-0)

Tommy is coming off his Super Bowl hangover after losing to JD last season.  So close, yet so far away.  Scotty is happy to roster a team that he drafted.  Both are looking to start off 2023 with a W.  Tommy will be starting Captain Kirk at Qb against Tampa Bay.  I like Kirk to throw his normal amount and score about 18 fantasy points.  He’s capped by his lack of rushing ability and Tampa Bay’s secondary is healthy, which wasn’t the case a year ago when they had become a pass funnel.  For Scotty he has Dak Prescott on Sunday Night Football against the division rival G Men.  Dak missed the first matchup last year due to injury but played decent in the second matchup with 14.8 fantasy points.  I like the addition of Brandin Cooks and I think Prescott does a bit better.  Of course, Scotty could start one of his other 2 Qbs he has rostered in Tua who looks to be in a shootout in LA and Derek Carr with a juicy matchup against the Titans whose secondary was God-awful last year.  The Running Back story in this matchup is intriguing.  Both teams loaded up in running backs in the draft.  Tommy took Jacobs.  Scotty JT.  Jacobs ended his holdout and signed.  He’ll look to play in Week 1, but might not get a full workload since he hasn’t been training with the team all summer.  JT is on IR and will miss the first 4 weeks of the regular season.  Tommy will have Austin Ekeler in that shootout against Miami.  Look for Ekeler’s normal high fantasy scoring game of 20ish points.  For Scotty he’ll have Rhamondre Stevenson against Philly and Miles Sanders vs. Atlanta (hopefully).  Scotty is also without Alvin Kamara for the 3 divisional games to start the year.  At WR Tommy has DeAndre Hopkins matched up against Marshon Lattimore and the Saints defense.  At WR2 he’ll most likely start Mike Williams in the Miami game.  The over under is set at 51 as of this writing.  Jalen Ramsey is on IR.  Jerry Juedy is hurt.  For Scotty he’ll have Tyreek Hill against LA.  Hill has been adamant this offseason that he wants to hit 2000 yards.  I think the Crazy Cheetah might just be able to do it too.  Look for him to start off with a bang as I’m predicting over 150 receiving yards in this matchup.  Don’t sleep on Scotty’s WR2 either.  Christian Watson was a manimal his rookie year.  Love looked decent in preseason action.  Once Watson established himself as the #1 WR for the packers he faced the Bears in Week 13 and caught 3 balls for 48 yards and a touchdown and also took a run 46 yards to the house.  22.9 fantasy points.  At Tight End Tommy has Evan Engram and Scotty has Dallas Goedert.  Engram scored most of his fantasy points in 3 games last season and this offseason they added Calvin Ridley.  Against Indy last year he was peppered with targets and caught 7 and 6 receptions, but failed to find the endzone.  For Goedert I like him to put up his average numbers against the Pats.  In the Flex Tommy has Najee Harris against the 49ers and Scotty has Marquise Brown against the Commanders.  I have low expectations for both in Week 1.  As of this writing Tommy has Dolphins D/ST in and Scotty has Steelers D/ST.  I don’t expect much from either.  Kickers don’t matter, but for Scotty he has Butker on the NFL Kickoff game on Thursday, so at least he has that.  Best of luck gentlemen.

Joe (0-0) vs. Kenny (0-0)

Joe versus K-Dub!  These two have well-rounded and robust lineups for this week.  Joe has Joe Burrow @ Cleveland.  He wasn’t great in either game last year against them.  Kenny has Jalen Hurts @ New England.  Patriots defense is usually good, but nobody could stop Jalen last year.  He was averaging about 30 points per game when I lost him to injury.  My replacement Qb scored 15 in the fantasy playoffs and I lost by 15.  Jalen was the key.  In addition to these two stud Qbs both teams feature Top 5 RBs in Joe’s CMC and Kenny’s Nick Chubb.  CMC plays @ Pittsburgh which should be a good game.  Chubb plays Cincy.  Last year Chubb has one boom game (27.9) and one bust game (6.9) versus the Bengals.  Not sure what to expect there.  At RB2 Joe has Aaron Jones against Chicago and Kenny has Cam Akers vs. Seattle.  Jones had one boom game (33.5) and one bust game (7.5) against the Bears last season.  Not sure what to expect there.  Akers versus Seattle last year had two solid outings of 18.5 and 17.3 fantasy points.  At WR the advantage is clearly Kenny.  Joe has a banged up Jaylen Waddle versus LA Chargers and Christian Kirk vs. Indy.  If Waddle plays he would be in a shootout potential matchup and be a smash play.  If.   Kirk had one boom game (22.8) and one bust game (8.8) vs. Indy.  Not sure what to expect there.  I do know that the Jaguars had Ridley and Zay Jones on the field in two wide receiver sets this preseason, so if Kirk is solely the slot guy it’ll be something to pay attention to as that could definitely cap his ceiling this year.  For Kenny he has Stefon Diggs against Sauce Gardner on Monday Night Football.  Last year the Jets did a good job containing Diggs with games of 5 catches for 93 yards and 3 catches for 37 yards, neither of which included a touchdown.  Diggs is an elite talent, so you aren’t sitting him, but expectations should be limited.  Deebo Samuel is at WR2 against Pittsburgh.  Like I said in my draft grades I have no clue what Deebo is going to do this year.  I do know that he can take a slant from Brock Purdy to the house at any moment.  Pittsburgh is tough though.  At Tight End Joe has Kyle Pitts against Carolina and Kenny has David Njoku against Cincy.  I like Njoku out of those two.  The Falcons are going to run the ball and only throw when they need to.  Njoku was pretty good last year prior to injury.  He started 2022 with 4/7 games with 5+ catches.  In the flex Joe has Alexander Mattison and Kenny has Mike Evans vs. Minnesota.  I love both of these flexes this week.  Mattison has the volume, but faces a tough defense.  Evans has the talent, but the average Qb against one of the worst offensive lines in football.  The Vikings defense isn’t that great though, so could be a good matchup.  Joe has Bengals D/ST against Cleveland and Kenny has Dallas D/ST against the Giants.  Last season the Bengals D/ST scored 8 and 9 against the Browns.  Last season the Dallas D/ST scored 14 and 5 against the Giants.  Joe has Justin Tucker against Houston, so look for him to have 6 extra point tries at least.  For Kenny he has Graham Gano on SNF.  Gano had two games of double digit fantasy points against the Cowgirls last season.  Looking at this game one thing I know for sure.  I’m not sure what to expect here.

Chase (0-0) vs. Moose (0-0)

7/14 Titles in this league belong to these two teams here.  (Insert gif of the Joker saying “Half”).  Both teams dropped their kickers to add a player onto their bench prior to kickoff.  Look for them to add a kicker once they look at whatever the hell they are looking at.  O/U?  Weather?  Wind?  Waiting for kickers to finish being cut or traded?  They both have studs at Quarterback.  Josh Allen for Chase against the NY Jets in a potential shootout on Monday Night Football.  Last season he averaged 22.65 points in his two games against the Jets securing 3 rushing touchdowns in those matchups.  For Moose he gets Lamar Jackson who Brad passed on like a dumb fuck.  Jackson gets Houston, so look for him to sit in the 4th quarter.  Last year Jackson started off en fuego with games of 20.1, 50.5, and 42.3 fantasy points.  Add in OBJ, Zay Flowers, and Todd Monken at OC and Jackson might set some records in Week 1.  At RB Chase has James Cook in the MNF matchup and Khalil Herbert against the Bears.  Cook looked explosive in spurts last season, Devin Singletary is gone, Zach Moss is gone, and Nyheim Hines got injured in a jet ski accident.  All Cook needs to do is beat out Damien Harris and Latavius Murray and Josh Allen to secure big running back numbers.  He should secure (at the very least) the 2 minute offense, hurry-up offense, and third down work.  I think he gets a bit more that that, but goal line carries are the main concern.  For Herbert we didn’t get a good sense of what he can do against the Packers last season as the first time they played he was still second fiddle to David Montgomery and he was hurt for the second matchup.  Herbert is good and grades highly in PFF.  For Moose he has Tony Pollard against the Giants and either Breece Hall, Devon Achane, or Jerick McKinnon at RB2.  I’m sure the preference is Breece Hall, but we’ll see if they ease him back into the lineup coming back from that big knee injury.  For Moose it’ll be interesting to see how he plays it as McKinnon plays TNF and Hall doesn’t play until MNF.  At WR Chase has Amari Cooper vs. Cincinnati and Courtland Sutton vs. Las Vegas.  Cooper was the #10 WR last year and has had more time to build rapport with Deshaun Watson.  Last season he had one boom game and one bust game against Cincy.  Sutton did well against Vegas last season scoring 13.7 and 10.5 in his two games against the division foe.  For Moose he’ll most likely be without Cooper Kupp who reaggravated his hamstring so he’ll turn to Diontae Johnson against San Fran, Jordan Addison against Tampa Bay, and Michael Thomas against the Titans.  Two juggernauts at Tight End with Chase having Travis Kelce against Detroit and Moose having Mandrews against Houston.  Chase has Jaguars D/ST against rookie Anthony Richardson and Moose has Saints D/ST against Ryan Tannehill, Derrick Henry, and DeAndre Hopkins.  Should be a great matchup!

Trey (0-0) vs. Brad (0-0)

T-Money opens the season against 2-Time Champion Brad in a battle of Coast to Coast!  Trey features the dual threat phenom Justin Fields at Qb against the GB Packers.  Last season Fields played them in Week 2 and went for 7/11 passing for 70 yards, 1 Int, 20 yards rushing a rushing touchdown or 8.8 fantasy points.  After he got settled into the season he played them again in Week 13 with much better results throwing 20/25 passes 254 yards, 2 INT, 71 rushing yards, 1 rushing touchdown or 21.1 fantasy points.  I like Fields for 20+ points to start the season off right.  For Brad’s Trevor Lawrence he scored 18.5 and 24.9 fantasy points in his two matchups against the Colts.  Their defense hasn’t gotten much better… At RB Trey has rookie phenom Bijan Robinson against the Carolina Panthers.  Panthers were middle of the pack in run defense last season.  Look for Bijan to enter the league in style.  I like Atlanta to win this game in a blowout and for Bijan to not have to play much going into the 4th quarter.  Trey also has JK Dobbins who Brad passed on in the draft for David Montgomery.  Dobbins has a juicy matchup against Houston.  Brad will have Dameon Pierce against Baltimore and David Montgomery against the Chiefs.   Pierce’s volume potential is massive, but Baltimore was top ten against the run last year and have a couple of hurt cornerbacks.  Look for CJ Stroud to throw a lot in his first NFL regular season game.  For David Montgomery the big question is how are the Lions going to divide up the running back carries.  Will it be Montgomery taking the Jamaal Williams role and Gibbs taking the D’Andre Swift role?  Or will they establish new roles?  Brad is certainly hoping for the former.  At Wide Receiver Trey has Chris Olave in a juicy ass matchup against the Titans.  He also has DK Metcalf against the Rams.  Last season DK went off in Week 13 against the division foe with 8 catches on 8 targets for 127 yards and a touchdown.  JSN might miss week 1 with a broken bone in his wrist and Jalen Ramsey is a Miami Dolphin.  In the Flex Trey has Jamaal Williams who looks to take the lion share of the work in Week 1 given Kendre Miller hurt his hammy and Kamara is suspended for the first 3 weeks.  Look for a BIG week for Williams against the Titans.  For Brad he is starting his trio of Wideouts in Amon-Ra St. Brown, AJ Brown, and Calvin Ridley.  Ridley against the Colts.  Look for the Jags to get him a score to boost his confidence in his first game action in almost two years.  He will be emotional.  Amon-Ra look for him to get pepper with 10-12 targets and 7-8 catches as the only other weapons are aging Marvin Jones Jr. and rookie Sam LaPorta.  AJB faces New England who has a knack of taking away a teams best player.  Only problem is who do you take away for the Eagles?  They have too many weapons.  This will be AJ Brown’s first time facing the Patriots since his rookie season where he played 95% of snaps in a playoff game and only came away with 1 reception on 1 target for 4 yards.  At Tight End Trey is going with Trip Saints Juwan Johnson.  Brad is looking at Greg Dulcich against the Raiders with all of the injuries to the Denver wideouts.  Trey has 49ers D/ST against Pittsburgh and Brad has Eagles D/ST against New England.

As always best of luck to all of you!

BBY Dream Team Season 13: Week 3 Recap & Week 4 Preview

Week 3 Recap:

Division 1:

Kenny (2-1) 125.0 vs. Katon (2-1) 122.9

Heading into Monday Night Football Kenny was down 99.9 to 122.9 with only Ezekiel Elliot left to play.  Zeke had scored 4.9 and 16.7 in his first two weeks, so it wasn’t looking good for Kenny.  Then the Cowboys fed him early and often on his way to 17 carries, 95 rushing yards, 2 rushing touchdowns, and 3 catches for 21 yards. (25.1 fantasy points).  This game was very top heavy with most of the scoring coming from only a few players on each team.  Kenny had 6 players score 7.7 or less, but had three players Josh Allen (40.1), Zeke (25.1), and Mike Williams (32.7) combine for 97.9 points.  Katon had 5 players score 11 or less, but had four players Tom Brady (33.6), Mike Evans (17.6), Travis Kelce (16.9), and James Robinson (22.4) combine for 90.5.  An epic end to the Division 1 first round of games.  Look forward to seeing these teams meet again in Week 14.

Scotty (2-1) 145.3 vs. Trey (0-3) 102.9

Scotty outscored Trey in nearly every category, Qb, Rbs, Wrs, and Tight End.  Scotty had big weeks from Justin Herbert (30.8), Najee Harris (24.2), Davante Adams (28.2), DJ Moore (19.5), and Mark Andrews (16.4).  Trey wind up with 23.5 from Jalen Hurts on MNF, but this game was already out of reach.  Big disappointments for Trey this week including Johnathan Taylor (7.7), Robert Woods (5.3), Courtland Sutton (6.2), TJ Hockensen (2.0).  His lone bright spots were Den D/ST (19.0), Brandon McManus (16.0) and Antonio Gipson’s 18.9.  But 15.3 of that came on one 73 yard reception.  On the flip side Scotty should be optimistic about his team’s prospects considering Najee Harris had 14 receptions and 102 yards receiving.  That’s right, a running back had 14 receptions this week.

Division 2:

Jen (2-1) 106.8 vs. Tommy (1-2) 86.9

Low scoring affair for Jen vs. Tommy this week.  Jen had four players score between 18.9 and 19.7, which accounted for 72% of her point total this week.  Lamar Jackson (19.2), Ekeler (19.7), CEH (18.9), and Brandin Cooks (19.2).  Biggest story for Tommy this week was injuries.  CMC exited the Thursday Night Football game with a hamstring injury.  AJ Brown left Colts game with a hamstring injury.  Rob Gronkowski missed some time in the Rams game due to a shot to the ribs.  Tyler Lockett missed some time in the Minnesota game.  One note of positivity was Tommy’s top scorer, Jamar Chase (20.5), who has now scored at least 1 touchdown in every NFL game he’s ever played in.  (Geaux Tigers).

Mike (1-2) 115.2 vs. JD (2-1) 120.9

Mike had scored a respectable 115.2 after the Sunday games.  Got solid production from most of his starters Wilson (16.5), Henry (20.9), Edmonds (11.0), DK Metcalf (22.7), Adam Thielen (14.0), D’Andre Swift (20.2), Carlson (12).  The only two players that underperformed were his Tight End Jonnu Smith (0.9) and his D/ST Washington (-3.0).  JD came into MNF having scored a respectable 92.9 with Barkley (18.4), Melvin Gordon (14.7), Diggs (8.0), Higbee (12.5), and Alexander Mattison (23.1).  He needed 22.3 from Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb to overtake Mike and claim victory.  With Zeke’s early involvement it appeared JD might now get there, but Dak kept being aggressive into the second half throwing for 3 touchdowns and 20 points, with CeeDee adding 8.  Enough for JD to move to 2-1 and drop Mike to 1-2.

Division 3:

Chase (2-1) 119.9 vs. Brad (2-1) 119.1

There are two ways I can take this loss.  I can say I was less than one point from being 3-0.  OR.  I can say I was less than one point from being 1-2.  Both are true statements.  This was a phenomenal game.  Chase had advantages at Wide Receiver, Tight End, and D/St.  Brad had advantages at Quarterback and Running Back.  Interesting tidbit, both teams’ kickers missed long field goals.  There was a myriad of ways this game could have been less close.  Chase had 3 players finish with 90+ yards, but less than 100 including Claypool (9 catches, 96 yards, 14.1 points), Kittle (7 catches, 92 yards, 13.6 points), and #1 Wr Cooper Kupp (9 catches, 96 yards, 2 touchdowns, 26.1 points).  I spent up to pick up Panthers D/ST which resulted in a 2-point difference from my team’s total score.  Also, I was torn on who to start in the flex.  I liked Hunt despite the poor matchup against the Bears.  Matthew Berry went on a long speech about why I should start Kenyan Drake against his former team the Dolphins.  Fantasy Pros Who to Start told me put in Tyler Boyd over Hunt.  But I just like having him in the Flex.  I know what he’s capable of.  I made the right calls and still lost on Sunday Night Football with some last-minute catches from Kittle at the end of the game.  Kittle had a 9 yard rush in that game, so losing by 0.8 one could say was a direct result of that running play.  You can make all the right calls and still fall just short.  Sometimes fantasy is like that sometimes.  Looking forward to the rematch in Week 14!

Joe (0-3) 94.6 vs. Mustafa (2-1) 121.0

Rough week for Joe.  He got solid production from Patrick Mahomes (22.9), Justin Jefferson (25.3), and Justin Tucker (16), but everyone else scored 8.9 or less including his Tight End Robert Tonyan (1.1) and D/ST San Francisco (1.0) combining for 2.1 points.  Normally a defense shitting the bed isn’t a death sentence, but this week one could argue it was close.  That’s because Moose got 21.0 points from NO D/ST.  That’s a 20 point swing in a 26.4 point game.  Moose got 21.4 from Ryan Tannehill, 19.3 from Alvin Kamara, 15.0 from Keenan Allen, 11.2 from Odell Beckham Jr, and 14 from Tyler Bass.  Total Peripherals?  Joe- 18.1, Moose- 42.9.

Week 4 Preview:

Katon (2-1) vs. Chase (2-1)

This is what the people want to see.  Two heavy weights going at it.  This looks to be a phenomenal matchup.  There are so many story lines I don’t even know where to begin.  Katon has scored the most after 3 weeks with 399.1 Points For, Averaging 133 per game.  Chase has scored the 3rd most with 372.5, Averaging 124.2.  Katon has #1 Fantasy Qb Tom Brady in his return to New England on SNF.  Oh boy. Chase has #2 Kyler Murray @ LA Rams in a battle for first place in the NFC West.  Katon has 11. Joe Mixon vs. Jacksonville on TNF and 18. David Montgomery vs. Detroit.  Chase has his Chubb Duo, 10. Nick Chubb @ Minnesota, and new starter Chuba Hubbard @ Dallas, who looks to take the bulk of the work with CMC once again on the mend.  Katon has 18. Mike Evans @ NE, JuJu @ GB.  Chase has Calvin Ridley vs. Washington and Chase Claypool @ GB.  At Tight End there are juggernauts.  Katon with #1 Travis Kelce @ Philly.  Chase with 9. George Kittle vs. Seattle.  In the Flex, Katon has 18. James Robinson on TNF.  Chase has #1 Wr Cooper Kupp vs. Arizona.  Biggest games for this matchup are obviously Arizona vs. Los Angeles Rams and Tampa Bay @ New England on Sunday Night Football.  Great freaking matchup.

 Jen (2-1) vs. Brad (2-1)

Great game in Week 4 between Jen and I.  Brad comes in after scoring his most points so far this season but losing his first game by 0.8.  Jen comes in eking out a win a low scoring affair after scoring her least points so far this season.  Jen has been a little up and down this season scoring 117.9-141.4-106.8.  Brad has been hyper consistent scoring 117.5-115.1-119.1.  This week Jen has a few tough matchups including 9. Lamar Jackson @ #1 OPRK Denver, 5. Brandin Cooks @ #3 OPRK Buffalo, and 19. Amari Cooper vs. #7 OPRK Carolina.  She also has some positive matchups like 5. Austin Ekeler vs. #19 OPRK Las Vegas, 25. CEH @ #21 OPRK Philly who just gave up a big game to Zeke Elliot.  A couple key difference makers for Jen are her peripherals.  13. Noah Fant gets #32 OPRK Baltimore and 5. Bills D/ST gets Davis Mills at Qb.  Brad’s “Big 3” all have tough matchups in this one.  6. Matt Stafford faces #8 OPRK Arizona, 2. Aaron Jones faces #4 OPRK Pittsburgh, and 13. Tyreek Hill is @ #1 OPRK Philly who did a good job limiting Amari Cooper and CeeDee Lamb in Week 3.  Brad will need his supporting cast to step up in this one.  13. Chris Carson has scored 11.2, 15.1, and 15.2 to start the season.  Allen Robinson has scored 6.5, 9.4, and 3.7 to start the season.  Potential bounce back game against Detroit, but who will be throwing him the ball?  I need A-Rob to step up.  Can’t rely on 9. Kareem Hunt boom weeks every week for victories.

Kenny (2-1) vs. JD (2-1)

The last matchup of two winning teams squaring off this week.  Very evened matchup on paper.  You have two mobile quarterbacks in 8. Josh Allen vs. Houston for Kenny and 14. Dak Prescott vs. Carolina for JD.  Both teams have first round Running Backs that have been underperforming the first two weeks of the season that came back and had their best games last week with Kenny’s 7. Zeke Elliot vs. Carolina and JD’s 26. Saquon Barkley @ New Orleans.  Both teams have solid Wide Receiver combos.  Kenny has 8. Godwin @ NE, 2. Mike Williams vs. LV on MN.  JD has Stefon Diggs vs. Houston and 17. CeeDee Lamb vs. Carolina.  We’ll have to keep an eye out on the injuries in this matchup.  Kenny will be keeping an eye on Josh Jacobs who has missed the past two games with several ailments.  JD will be looking at the statuses of Tee Higgins on TNF against Jacksonville, Dalvin Cook (since JD has Mattison), and Elijah Mitchell who missed last week due to a shoulder injury.

Moose (2-1) vs. Trey (0-3)

Don’t let his record fool you.  His team is bad too.  Trey has had a rough start to 2021.  Johnathan Taylor is ranked Running Back #31.  Antonio Gipson is ranked Rb #17, but take away one play from last week and he’d be in the 30’s as well.  Robert Woods has scored games of 10.9-9.5-5.3 while Cooper Kupp has been going crazy.  Courtland Sutton is 37th and hasn’t scored a touchdown.  TJ Hockensen is good!  #4 Tight End!  But last week he only scored 2 points.  ESPN gives Trey a 6% chance of making the playoffs.  It doesn’t help when your points against is sitting at 424.7 after 3 weeks.  Averaging 141.6 against him each week.  Can he get a spark this week?  Moose has Ryan Tannehill @ NY Jets.  It’s a good matchup, but will they need to throw?  Alvin Kamara gets the G-Men.  Moose has an interesting decision to make at Rb #2.  He has Mike Davis vs. Washington, Ty’Son Williams @ Denver, or maybe Cordarrelle Patterson who is currently Running Back #12.  Waller is Tight End #3 in a key divisional game on Monday Night Football against the LA Chargers.  Which brings us to Keenan Allen for Moose.  Looking like it’s going to be a good game, but Trey need his playmakers to start making some plays.

Joe (0-3) vs. Mike (1-2)

Joe couldn’t get things going without Dalvin Cook in Week 3.  Combine being last place in the league in points scored, 4th worst in terms of points against, add some bad luck, and Joe finds himself 0-3.  On the flip side Mike has had terrible luck the last two weeks.  He is currently #2 Points Scored with 391.0, averaging 130.3 and yet has 1 win to show for it.  That’s what happens when you lose 142.7-156.3 and 115.2-120.9.  On paper this week Mike looks heavily favored.  10. Russell Wilson and 16. DK Metcalf gets San Fran, 1. Derrick Henry is at the Jets.  3. D’Andre Swift is @ Chicago who just got fleeced by Kareem Hunt (similar skillset).  9. Adam Thielen faces Cleveland.  Even #1 Kicker Daniel Carlson has a good matchup for Mike.  Joe has 3. Mahomes @ Philly who gave up a solid 20 to Dak Prescott last week, 20. Dalvin Cook and 10. Justin Jefferson is versus Cleveland, Julio Jones is @ Jets with AJ Brown slated to miss the contest.  A lot of things will need to go right for Joe to win this.  This is a matchup of two teams with very bad luck so far this season.  Will one of their lucks change?  Will Jefferson or Thielen score more?  Will the Titans ram Derrick Henry down the Jets throat or will they try to get their struggling passing game going to the benefit of Julio Jones?  Could this week be a pivotal moment in the season for one of these teams?

Scotty (2-1) vs. Tommy (1-2)

Interesting matchup in Week 4.  Scotty comes in riding high after a killer Week 3.  Tommy comes in after being killed in Week 3.  Scotty hopes to have D. Henderson back for his matchup against Arizona.  Tommy is looking to be without #1 Draft Pick CMC and AJ Brown.  I’m sure Gronk will be questionable, Lockett might be questionable.  This team is just beat up.  Scotty has 13. Justin Herbert vs. LV on MNF, 8. Najee Harris @ Green Bay, Trey Sermon vs. Seattle, 6. Davante Adams vs. Pittsburgh, 11. DJ Moore @ Dallas.  Tommy has Aaron Rodgers vs. Pittsburgh, Miles Sanders vs. KC, 4. Jamarr Chase vs. Jacksonville.  Things don’t look good for Tommy.  It’s fantasy football, anything can happen.

Best of Luck this week!

BBY Dream Team Season 13: Week 2 Recap & Week 3 Preview

Week 2 Recap:

Division 1:

Katon (2-0) 143.3 vs. Trey (0-2) 111.0

Arrrgh!  Captain Katon rode his Tampa Bay Stack against Atlanta in dramatic fashion.  Brady (29.6), Evans (22.0) and TB D/ST (21.0) combined for 72.6 points.  Katon had four players that swabbed the deck scoring 9.4 or less, but his first mate, Travis Kelce, scored 23.4.  Walking the plank was Trey, who wind up with four players in single digits.  Despite being banished to Davey Jones’ Locker he should have some hope on the horizon with Courtland Sutton scoring 23.4 in his first game without Jerry Jeudy.  A good sign for calmer seas ahead.  Hopefully Katon doesn’t let the 2-0 record allow him to get ARRRR-ogant.

Kenny (1-1) 102.8 vs. Scotty (1-1) 116.5

A great Week 2 matchup with both teams getting solid production from most of their players.  Kenny got 16.5 from Josh Allen compared to 17.6 from Justin Herbert for Scotty.  Allen did have a touchdown called back, which could have helped Kenny make the game a tad bit closer.  Kenny’s Zeke (16.7) and Damien Harris (12.9) combined for 29.6 compared to Scotty’s Najee (16.6) and D. Henderson (15.7) who combined for 32.3.  Similar story at Wideout with Kenny getting Hopkins (13.4) and Godwin (14.2) compared with Scotty’s Adams (19.1) and DJ Moore (17.9).  Scotty slightly outpaced Kenny’s peripherals by 10.2 points while Kenny outscored Scotty in the flex Deebo Samual (13.1) versus DJ Chark (2.4).  Scotty edged out Kenny in a close one, evening both teams’ records to 1-1.

Division 2:

JD (1-1) 83.3 vs. Jen (1-1) 141.4

Turning to D2, we had the most lopsided game of the week, with Jen outscoring JD by 58.1 points.  That was due to JD underperforming with Dak getting 7.4, Barkley getting 7.9, new acquisition Elijah Mitchell getting 6.3, Tight End Tyler Higbee getting 1.3 and his kicker getting a flat 0.  His lone bright spot was NE D/ST who got 20 points.  Jen had 3 players score 5 or less, but she also had 5 players score at least 18 points.  Lamar Jackson had over 100 yards rushing and 35.1 total points in a thrilling SNF matchup against Kansas City.  Austin Ekeler got a solid 18.  Terry McLaurin got the best of James Bradberry on TNF to the tune of 11 catches, 107 yards and a touchdown (25.2 points).  Brandin Cooks continued his great start to the season with 18.3 and Buffalo D/ST got 22.0.  Dominant effort by Jen this week.

Mike (1-1) 142.7 vs. Tommy (1-1) 156.3

Nothing like a good ole fashion shootout in Week 2!  Mike’s 1st round pick Derrick Henry showed out with a crazy second half performance against his Seahawks to the tune of 49.7 fantasy points.  Unfortunately for Mike it also meant his beloved Seahawks losing the game.  In addition, he also lost his fantasy matchup.  This biggest story on this one was Metcalf vs. Lockett.  Mike’s Russell Wilson (26.2) delivered 8.3 points to Metcalf and 32.8 to Tyler Lockett, a huge difference in Tommy’s favor in this game.  Another big difference was at tight end where Mike got 4.2 from Jonnu Smith and Tommy got 17.9 from Rob Gronkowski who starts the year with 4 touchdowns in 2 weeks.  I couldn’t leave this matchup without mentioning the fact that Mike’s kicker, Daniel Carlson, got 17 points and Tommy’s kicker, Graham Gano, got 22 points.  For perspective, Gano’s 22 points would have been the top scoring player on 4 teams this week.  That’s right.  Moose, JD, Kenny, and Scotty’s top scorers scored less than Tommy’s kicker.  Can’t wait to see the rematch in Week 13.

Division 3:

Moose (1-1) 97.4 vs. Brad (2-0) 115.1

Speaking of lucky SOB’s.  Moving to D3 we have Brad who yet again pulls off a Monday Night Football victory.  Heading into MNF Brad needed 20.8 from first round pick Aaron Jones.  ESPN put Brad’s odds at 34% and IBM Watson said that Aaron Jones had a 7% chance to score over 18.1 points this week.  The Packers had something else to say, force feeding the Sombrero to the tune of 4 touchdowns and 38.5 fantasy points.  Brad didn’t have many bright spots beyond that with 5 players scoring in single digits.  Carson got a Pair of TeeDee’s (hehe) and Matt Prater got a solid 12.  On Moose’s side he wind up with 5 players in single digits as well including first round pick Alvin Kamara who only wind up with 5 fantasy points.  Moose did wind up getting 9 points off yardage bonuses due to Tannehill (17.5) throwing for over 300 yards in a comeback victory, as well as Keenan Allen (15.8) and Diontae Johnson (18.0) getting 100 yard receiving bonuses.  Johnson sacrificed himself at the end of the game to get his bonus, but initial looks appear for the injury to be minor.

Joe (0-2) 117.5 vs. Chase (1-1) 142.5

ESPN continues to troll Joe with him finishing with 117.5, the exact amount that Brad scored against him in Week 1 to win by 0.2 points.  1 week too late for Joe unfortunately.  Joe had a solid week with Mahomes (26.9), Cook (18.8), Jefferson (15.5) and Julio Jones (18.8) doing their thing.  Chase also had a solid week, but he also had 2 players go off.  Kyler Murray threw for 400 yards and scored 4 total touchdowns for 38.1 points.  Cooper Kupp hauled in 9 catches for 163 yards and 2 touchdowns.  The surprise for Chase this week was Devin Singletary’s 16.1, most of which came on a 46-yard touchdown run in the first quarter.  Joe outscored Chase when it comes to peripherals 28.7 to 7.7, but Chase’s Kyler-Cooper Combo was just too much for Joe this week.

Week 3 Preview:

Division 1:

Kenny (1-1) vs. Katon (2-0)

Battle of the K Names.  Will Katon sweep the Division?  Or will Kenny even the score to 2-1 for both teams?  The matchup looks extremely even on paper with Kenny projected 118.8 and Katon projected 120.2.  Both Qb’s face nasty defensive lines with Kenny’s Josh Allen facing Washington and Brady travelling to the West Coast to battle Aaron Donald the LA Rams.  Great matchups across the board here.  The two big games to watch on this one is Katon’s Buccaneers at LAR.  Evans most likely gets the Ramsey shadow creating space for Gronk, Godwin, and AB to work through the rest of the secondary.  Godwin has done well against the Rams the past two seasons hauling in 7 catches on 10 targets for 53 yards and a touchdown in 2020 and 10 catches on 14 targets for 172 yards and 2 touchdowns in 2019.  Kenny has 4 Top 13 Wideouts after two weeks (Hopkins [11], Mike Williams [9], Godwin [13], and Deebo Samuel [3] and will have to chose which 3 to start against Katon.  The second game to watch here will be LAC @ KC game.  Kenny has Mike Williams and Jared Cook he could deploy while Katon has his 23-point averaging Travis Kelce.  Kelce is a cheat code.  Can the Super Bowl Champ overcome?

Scotty (1-1) vs. Trey (0-2)

Trey has opened the season with some awful luck, with the highest points against after two weeks at 279.4, an average of 139.7.  Trey has scored 233.1 for an average of 116.6 (for perspective, Lucky Ass Brad has scored 232.6 and is 2-0).  Scotty bounced back nicely after losing by over 30 in Week 1 with a solid victory over quality opponent Kenny.  Scotty strives to make it two in a row while Trey tries to get on the board.  Let’s dive in.  Scotty has Herbert @ KC.  Slow start for Herbert but should have plenty of need to throw the ball vertical against the lightning Chiefs who are coming off of a loss.  Trey has Jalen Hurts who has produced games of 28.6 and 21.8 including rushing yardage of 62 and 82 yards to start the year.  This week he gets Dallas in a Monday Night Football showdown.  Najee Harris has a favorable matchup against Cincinnati for Scotty while Johnathan Taylor hopes to get things going against Tennessee who just gave up a pair of TeeDee’s to Carson last week.  The wideout front Scotty looks to have a slight advantage with Davante Adams @ SF and DJ Moore @ Houston.  Trey is hoping Bob Trees can get some of that Cooper Kupp action against Tampa Bay.  Courtland Sutton did not disappoint in his first game back sin Jerry Jeudy, he looks to build on big week 2 against the terrible Jets.  Don’t sleep on Trey with him having Den D/ST against the Jets and turnover prone rookie Zach Wilson.

Division 2:

Jen (1-1) vs. Tommy (1-1)

Both teams coming off explosive Week 2 victories and look to finish the first round of divisional games with a winning record.  There can only be one.  Jen has Lamar Jackson @ Detroit.  Jackson is coming off of a high after defeating the Kansas City Chiefs while Detroit will be coming off a MNF spanking by the Packers.  Speaking of the Packers Tommy has Aaron Rodgers who rebounded nicely from his Week 1 stinker with 4 touchdowns and 26.8 fantasy points in Week 2.  He takes his talents to San Fran where he’ll look to get a victory in his home state.  A big storyline to watch will be Amari Cooper for Jen.  He has bruised ribs and he plays on MNF.  Will have to monitor as the week progresses.  Tommy has #1 WR Tyler Lockett @ Minnesota and AJ Brown vs. Indianapolis who got torched by… Tyler Lockett in Week 1 and Cooper Kupp in Week 2.  Will AJ Brown make it continue in Week 3?  This will be a great matchup to watch from TNF with Jen’s Brandin Cooks vs. Tommy’s CMC all the way to MNF with Jen’s Amari Cooper (maybe) vs. Tommy’s Miles Sanders.

Mike (1-1) vs. JD (1-1)

On the other side of D2, we have two teams that suffered different types of losses in Week 2..  Mike put his best foot forward and still lost whereas JD laid a stinker.  Both looking to bounce back, but one will drop 2 in a row.  Russell Wilson @ Minnesota for Mike, Dak Prescott vs. PHI for JD.  Derrick Henry gets Indy coming off his near-50 burger.  This could be a pivotal moment for JD and Saquon Barkley.  Barkley has started off slow, but his usage on TNF against Washington was reason for optimism.  Now a long rest and he gets Atlanta.  This could be a spot where he gets going.  Great Rb2 matchups with Mike’s Chase Edmonds @ Jacksonville and JD’s Elijah Mitchell against Green Bay.  Then Wideout talent galore.  Mike has DK Metcalf @ Minnesota and Adam Thielen vs Seattle in the same game.  JD has Stefon Diggs vs. Washington who gave up decent production to Sterling Shepherd and Darius Slayton last week.  He also has CeeDee Lamb in the MNF Philly matchup.  Can Mike build a big enough lead to hold off JD’s Cowboys on MNF?  Or will JD’s Prescott-Lamb stack come through?

Division 3:

Brad (2-0) vs. Chase (1-1)

The difference between Brad and Chase’s teams are that Brad is lucky, but Chase’s team is good.  Chase is averaging 128.8 vs. Brad’s 116.3.  Brad has enjoyed the second lowest Points Against at 214.7 or 107.4/game, which explains his 2-0 record.  Chase’s #1 Qb Kyler Murray, #4 Rb Nick Chubb, and #2 Wr Cooper Kupp have started the season off strong.  Murray gets Jacksonville, Chubb vs. Chicago, and Kupp gets Cincy.  Brad’s #12 Matt Stafford, #3 Aaron Jones, and #4 Tyreek Hill have started off good as well.  Stafford gets a potential shootout against Tampa Bay, Jones is @ San Fran, and Tyreek faces LAC.  Brad has an advantage at Rb2 with Chase having #19 Devin Singletary vs. Washington’s D Line while Brad has #16 Chris Carson @ Minnesota.  WR #2 looks even with Chase having Chase Claypool vs. Cincy and Brad having Allen Robinson @ Cleveland.  Flex is a big advantage for Chase with Calvin Ridley @ NYG with James Bradberry whereas Brad has Kareem Hunt vs. Chicago or Tyler Boyd @ Pittsburgh.  Given Chase’s Big 3 have better matchups this week and George Kittle has been quiet and gets the Packers who gave up 8 catches, 66 yards, and a touchdown to TJ Hockensen last week.  This looks like D3 will have at least two 2-1 teams after this week.

Joe (0-2) vs. Mustafa (1-1)

Joe is still fighting for that first win and Moose is looking to bounce back after a disappointing Week 2.  On paper this looks like a close matchup with Joe projected to lose by… oh come on!  0.2!  ESPN are just jerks at this point.  Joe has #2 Qb Patrick Mahomes against LAC, #5 Rb Dalvin Cook vs. Seattle.  Moose has Tannehill vs. Indy, Kamara @ New England, Mike Davis @ NYG, Keenan Allen @ KC, D. Johnson vs. Cincy, and Darren “The Baller” Waller against Miami.  Joe has Antonio Brown vs. LAR and Julio Jones versus Indy.  Joe has some pieces, but he hasn’t quite been able to get the puzzle together.  Sometimes fantasy is like that sometimes.  I like Moose in this one.

Best of Luck!

BBY Dream Team Season 13: Week 1 Recap & Week 2 Preview

Week 1 Recap:

Division 3:

Joe (0-1) 117.3 vs. Brad (1-0) 117.5

I must start here after Monday Night Football.  My goodness.   Both teams deserved to lose this one.  Joe decided to start Michael Gallup over Julio Jones and Antonio Brown, which I thought was a questionable decision going into the NFL opening game on Thursday night.  I had it ranked Julio-AB-Gallup.  Of course, by him choosing Gallup he got 1.2 more points than Julio (5.6 versus 4.4).  Brad decided to start Kareem Hunt in the flex over Corey Davis.  Jamison Crowder was ruled out and Davis’s projections went up slightly.  Then Keenan Cole was ruled out and Davis’s projections and volume of targets was locked in.  Yet I decided to keep in Kareem Hunt because I liked the symmetry of Joe and I both starting flex players in revenge games.  Robby Anderson versus the Jets and Kareem Hunt versus Kansas City.  Speaking of Robby and Kareem, Robby scored a 57-yard touchdown for his lone catch of the game.  1 Catch, 14.2 points, not too shabby.  Kareem found the endzone and got 15.6.  Of course, the stars of this matchup were Joe’s Patrick Mahomes who went off for 36.2, but unfortunately for Joe many of those passes went to Brad’s #1 Wideout Tyreek Hill who matched Mahomes with 36.6.  Tyreek saw 15 targets, 11 receptions for 197 yards and a 75-yard touchdown.  Joe’s #1 pick Dalvin Cook delivered a solid 17.4, whereas Brad’s #1 pick Aaron Jones got curb stomped by a Saints defense and team that sent a message to the world on Sunday.  Then of course there was the Monday Night Football game.  Brad went into MNF with a 6.2-point lead and Raven’s D/ST and Joe had Justin Tucker.  With 0:42 seconds left in the game Justin Tucker hit a 47-yard field goal to bring Joe within 0.2.  The Raiders then drove the field quickly and Daniel Carlson hit a 55-yard field goal with 7 seconds remaining to send the game into Overtime.  Brad was up by 0.2 and the Raiders had 27 points scored.  Raven’s D/ST was at 5 points at the time, meaning if the Raiders scored 1 more point it would move Raven’s D/ST into 28 points allowed, which would have dropped them by 2 points.  In the first drive of Overtime the Raiders drove the field quickly.  Carr hit Edwards for a 33-yard touchdown meaning Joe would win the game by 1.8 points.  But a replay showed Edwards was down at the one-yard line.  Setting up a First Down and Goal.  On first down Carr was stuffed on a Qb sneak up the middle.  On second down and goal Leatherwood jumped, causing a false start to happen.  Replaying second down it was an incomplete pass.  On third down and goal Carr passed it to Willie Snead but it was hit far in the air and intercepted by Averett for a touchback.  Brad gets 2 points bringing his lead to 2.2.  A field goal by Justin Tucker would win the game for Joe.  Lamar Jackson starts to get the drive going.  Then on 3rd and 7 from the Baltimore 33-yard line, Jackson is sacked and fumbles the football.  The Raiders get the ball, Brad, who had been rooting against the Raiders offense all game, now started cheering for them to score.  On the 3rd play of the drive Derek Carr hits Zay Jones for a 31-yard touchdown and the Raiders win the game.  Brad defeats Joe by 0.2.  Holy shit what a roller coaster.

Mustafa (1-0) 130.4 vs. Chase (0-1) 113.1

Kyler Murray had a great game for Chase with 33.4 points compared to 14.1 from Moose’s Ryan Tannehill who couldn’t get it going against the Cardinals defense.  First round picks Nick Chubb for Chase got a respectable 21.1 points and Alvin Kamara for Moose got 16.6.  Chase lost Raheem Mostert who chipped a bone off his knee.  Marquez Callaway couldn’t get away from Jaire Alexander and finished with 1.9 points.  On Sunday Night Football he got a great performance out of Cooper Kupp who scored 25.3 points.  Moose got 8.7 from Mike Davis who disappointed most likely due to negative game script.  Diontae Johnson went out of the game briefly before returning and scoring a touchdown for Moose and getting 12.1 points.  Chase went into Monday Night Football with a 24.1 lead.  Moose had Darren Waller and Ty’Son Williams left.  Waller was enough, scoring 24.5 points.  Williams’ 16.9 was lagniappe as Moose defeats Chase by 15.3 points in Week 1.

Division 1:

Kenny (1-0) 136.1 vs. Trey (0-1) 122.1

Things were looking okay for Kenny after Thursday Night Football.  Zeke had gotten only 4.9 points, but Godwin got 22.0 for a decent combination of 26.9 points.  Trey’s stack of Jalen Hurts and Devonta Smith worked out well as they combined for 44.7 points.  TJ Hockensen performed as expected catching 8 passes on 10 targets for 97 yards a touchdown. (21.7 points).  Courtland Sutton disappointed for Trey only getting 1.9 points.  In comparison Kenny’s Wr#1 and #2 combined for 45.3 compared to Trey’s 12.8, which ultimately decided this game.  Trey did hold a slim lead of 2.5 heading into MNF with Josh Jacobs holding a questionable designation due to illness.  But Jacobs played and scored 2 touchdowns, closing the Week 1 victory for the defending champion and highest draft grade earner, Kenny.

Scotty (0-1) 98.3 vs. Katon (1-0) 132.9

Katon did not disappoint.  An interesting note on this matchup, prior to Week 1 games both had a surprise inactive at Running Back.  Scotty had 49ers Trey Sermon and Katon had Bills’ Zach Moss.  Despite having four players score 7.2 Katon took care of business.  His Mixon-Montgomery combination combined for 47.3 points, compared to just 20.6 from Scotty’s Najee Harris and Darrell Henderson combo.  Both teams wide receivers disappointed with Scotty getting 20.5 from Adams and Moore and Katon getting 11.1 from Evans and Smith-Schuster.  Katon did; however, get 22.6 from Travis Kelce who picked up where he left off last year.  And that was more than enough.

Division 2:

Mike (1-0) 133.1 vs. Jen (0-1) 117.9

Jen started this matchup off with a bang!  Amari Cooper got 35.4 points on Thursday Night Football.  On Sunday Mike evened the score with strong performances from Russel Wilson (26.9), Adam Thielen (25.7), and D’Andra Swift (20.4).  Mike was surely disappointed by first round pick Derrick Henry’s paltry 9.2, but a negative game script can do that for Henry and the Titans O.  Jen had a solid week, but after Cooper, no one else on the team exceeded 18.7 and 5 players scored in single digits.  Going into MNF she needed Lamar Jackson to outscore Daniel Carlson by 22.3, but Carlson delivered a strong performance of 11 points including a 55 yarder to send the game into overtime.

JD (1-0) 132.2 vs. Tommy (0-1) 107.8

Despite all the injuries JD’s team delivered in week 1.  On TNF JD got a whopping 55.2 points from his Dak Prescott-CeeDee Lamb stack.  He was disappointed by Saquon Barkley’s 3.2 points, but Melvin Gordon made up for it, scoring 24.3 points (most of which came from a 70-yard touchdown run in the 4th quarter).  Gordon wind up outscoring Tommy’s #1 Overall Pick Christian McCaffrey who finished with 23.2 points.  Tyler Lockett also showed out with 4 catches for 100 yards and 2 touchdowns, an incredible 29 points on only 4 catches.  Tommy’s downfall was Aaron Rodgers getting 1.2 and getting benched after the Saints crushed the Packers.  Brandon Auyik didn’t receive a single target in the game and finished with 0 points.  ESPN says this is due to a lingering hamstring injury.  Graham Gano also finished with 1 point.  It was impressive that Tommy broke 100 points with 3 players combining for 2.2 points.

Week 2 Preview:

Division 1:

Kenny (1-0) vs. Scotty (0-1)

Kenny has a combination of some tough matchups and some really favorable ones.  He has Josh Allen at Miami, Zeke at LA Chargers, Jacobs at Pittsburgh, and Harrison Butker @ Baltimore.  He also has Hopkins vs. Minnesota, Godwin versus Atlanta, which is a smash spot, and Deebo Samuel @ Philly.  Scotty has Justin Herbert versus a Dallas team that just gave up 30 fantasy points to Tom Brady.  Najee Harris versus Las Vegas who gave up a couple touchdowns to the likes of Ty’Son Williams and Latavius Murray last week.  Davante Adams and the rest of the Packers are coming for blood after a disappointing opening week.  They get Detroit on Monday Night Football.  Looks to be a great matchup in Week 2!

Katon (1-0) vs. Trey (0-1)

Katon has come very favorable matchups and enters Week 2 the heavy favorite to move on to 2-0.  Brady, Evans, TB D/ST stack faces swiss cheese defense Atlanta.  Mixon and Montgomery face each other in the CIN @ CHI matchup.  Kelce gets Baltimore who couldn’t stop Darren Waller in Week 1 to save their lives.  Trey’s Jalen Hurts and Devonta Smith stack is vs. San Fransisco, Johnathan Taylor vs. Aaron Donald and the LA Rams D/ST, Antonio Gibson faces a decent D line of the Giants on TNF.  Trey will need big games from his Hurts to Smith stack, Den D/ST against rookie Trevor Lawrence (who threw 3 INT in Week 1), and Courtland Sutton to show up this week after Jerry Jeudy went down to an injury that will have him sidelined for multiple weeks.

Division 2:

Mike (1-0) vs. Tommy (0-1)

Biggest game of the week for this matchup is Seattle versus Tennessee.  Mike has Russell Wilson, Derrick Henry, and DK Metcalf.  Tommy has AJ Brown and Tyler Lockett.  Mike also has Chase Edmonds vs. Minnesota and Adam Thielen vs. Arizona.  Tommy has a juicy matchup for Gronk against Atlanta.  Tommy’s Rb’s do have tough matchups with CMC vs. NO and Sanders vs. SF.  Ultimately this game will look to come down to Monday Night Football where Mike will have D’Andre Swift @ GB and Tommy will have Aaron Rodgers versus Detroit.  Who scores more Metcalf or Lockett?  Henry or Brown?  Swift or Rodgers?  Great Week 2 Matchup here.

JD (1-0) vs. Jen (0-1)

Biggest game of the week for this matchup is Dallas versus LA Chargers.  JD has Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb.  Jen has Austin Ekeler and Amari Cooper.  Every single player for JD is playing on the road except for his kicker.  Dak and Lamb is in LA as previously mentioned, Barkley is at Washington on TNF, newly acquired $71 Rb Elijah Mitchell is at Philly.  Diggs-Higgs and Higbee (should make a team name out of this somehow) are all away as well.  Jen has Lamar Jackson vs. KC on SNF.  Ekeler in the Dallas matchup.  CEH in the SNF matchup, and Terry McLaurin versus the Giants on TNF.  Someone to watch for Jen is Brandin Cooks who had an impressive 18.7 in Week 1 on 7 targets from Tyrod Taylor.  Cleveland opened favored by 13 points, meaning Cooks could be in line for even more targets in Week 2.

Division 3:

Joe (0-1) vs. Chase (0-1)

Both teams coming off their loss on MNF and looking to avoid the 0-2 start to the season.  A phenomenal matchup on paper starting with the field generals on both teams.  Joe has #1 Qb Patrick Mahomes @ Baltimore who just got carved up by Derek Carr.  Chase has #2 Qb Kyler Murray versus Minnesota who gave up a respectable 18.6 to Joe “Big Dick” Burrow.  Joe’s Minnesota stack of Cook and Jefferson square off with an Arizona defense that looked surprisingly good against the Titans in Week 1.  This game also features a couple of wideouts facing each other with Joe having Antonio Brown vs. Atlanta and Chase having Calvin Ridley vs. Tampa Bay.  I’d be remiss to not mention the incredibly disgusting matchup of these teams Running Back #2’s who also face each other this week.  Joe has Myles Gaskin vs. Buffalo and Chase has Devin Singletary @ Miami.  And I just puked in my mouth.

Brad (1-0) vs. Moose (1-0)

Brad and Moose feature the only matchup with two winning teams this week.  Moose has Ryan Tannehill who is in the Pacific Northwest to face the Seattle Seahawks, Alvin Kamara @ Carolina, Keenan Allen vs. Dallas, Diontae Johnson and Darren Waller will square off against one another in the LV-Pittsburgh matchup.  Heading into Week 1 I imagine not many people have Vegas versus Pittsburgh being a 1-0 vs. 1-0 matchup, but here we are.  Brad has Matt Stafford at Indy.  Stafford looks solid in Week 1 against the Bears secondary, but the Colts secondary is a lot stronger.  Chris Carson has Tennessee, TyFREAK Hill is @ Baltimore.  Allen Robinson is coming off of his 11 targets, 6 catch game versus Jalen Ramsey and the Rams and is now facing a Bengals Defense that gave up a pair of touchdowns to Adam Thielen, but held Justin Jefferson to 5 catches on 7 targets and 71 yards.  Ultimately this game looks to be decided on Monday Night Football where Brad will have Aaron Jones as his last hope to top Moose and move on to 2-0.  Will the Packers come out flat again?  Will AJ Dillon get more work than Jones?  Who gets to 2-0 in D3?  We’ll see.

Thanks for reading and best of luck this week!

BBY 2020: Week 10 Recap & Week 11 Preview

I’m back!

Week 10 Recap:

Jen (7-3) 104.3 vs. Brad (6-4) 75.0

Jen was leading throughout this one as Brad was exposed for being exactly who we thought he was.  Mahomes and Kelce.  Jen got a beautiful DJ Moore touchdown, 16 points from Matt Prater including a 59-yard game winner and DeAndre Hopkins caught a miracle end of the game, knockoff touchdown on a hail mary pass from Kyler Murray.  Jen gets the coveted 7th win.

JD (4-6) 101.2 vs. Chase (4-6) 87.9

(Cue image of JD listening to “Staying Alive!”)  JD avoids the dreaded 7th loss.  This game was decided by Brad’s draft capital Josh Allen (26.7) and Antonio Gibson (20.5) who were sent to JD from the past in order to defeat Chase because Brad fears Chase’s team the most come playoff time.  Those two accounted for 46.6% of JD’s total point output.  Chase got 42 from his peripherals and 45.9 from his Qb, Rb1, Rb2, Wr1, Wr2, and Flex positions.  Just a rough day.    Chase got Terminator-d.

Kenny (7-3) 92.8 vs. Tommy (5-5) 163.9

Tommy rides Tom Brady’s 34.8 and 8/9 starters in double digits to handily defeat the 1 seed as of Week 10.  Kenny had Tyreek and Gurley on byes, but his starting lineup was decent.  Tommy put up his highest point total of the season without Zeke, Golladay, and Crowder, which should scare us a bit.

Moose (4-6) 127.8 vs. Scotty (3-7) 58.3

Scotty decided to sit this one out.  8/9 starters in single digits, Brees got destroyed on his bench.  Just terrible.  Moose had a solid game scoring the 3rd most he’s scored all season and most since Week 6.  Lamar Jackson had a solid 21.3, Kamara continued his dominant season with 31.3 and a couple rookie wideouts combined for 3 tds and 35.5 points.  Moose will face an uphill climb with his 3 games remaining coming against all .500 or better teams.

Trey (6-4) 113.4 vs. Mike (6-4) 109.7

Josh Jacobs decided to unretire for Trey getting 30.6 points after averaging 11.3 the previous three weeks.  Trey started Wayne Gallman who got a solid 18.5 points in the flex.  Mike got 29.9 from Kyler Murray and was looking bleak heading into MNF, but JJ got him 20.5 and had a slight chance at the end to put Mike ahead.

Joe (3-7) 109.9 vs. Katon (5-5) 85.3

Joe won Week 1, lost 4 straight, won Week 6, lost 3 straight, won Week 10.  Boding well for JD and Kenny the next two weeks (😉).  Joe squeezes out a victory against Katon who had a top-heavy disappointing week.  Rodgers (28.4) and Chubb (21.6) combined for 58.6% of Katon’s total point total.  Joe was solid despite more disappointing weeks from his running backs.  It helps htat JD McKissic is getting 15 targets per game from Check Down Alex Smith.

Week 11 Preview (Divisional Games!)

3 Weeks.  Teams will rise, teams will fall.  Some will make the playoffs, half will not.

Division 1

Jen (7-3) vs. Katon (5-5)

You know what I love about Jen?  She fucking tries.  She rolled out Kalen “F-You” Ballage and kicked my ass last week.  This week she gets Katon.  Jen has all but locked up a playoff berth, but now sets her sights on a potential division crown and a bye week.  #7 Qb Deshaun Watson gets NE, which is pretty tough.  #16 Darrell Henderson gets tough matchup against Tampa.  Kalen “F-You” Ballage gets the Jets and is projected a handsome 13.2.  DeAndre Hopkins gets Seattle’s porous secondary.  He had an efficient 12 target, 10 reception 103 yards and a touchdown in the first outing.  #14 DJ Moore gets Detroit and Tim Patrick gets Miami.  Katon has some tough matchups with #5 Aaron Rodgers versus Indy, Nick Chubb versus Phillly, Joe Mixon at Washington, #9 Keenan Allen has a smash spot against the JETS.  Nyheim Hines against Green Bay.  What could go wrong?

Trey (6-4) vs. Moose (4-6)

What a damn rematch.  Trey edged out Moose in Week 1 134.3 to 132.2.  Moose strives to avenge that loss.  Trey is looking for the coveted 7th win.  Cam Newton is @ Houston, #5 Josh Jacobs versus KC who he scored 21.5 against in Week 5.  #4 James Robinson gets Pitsburgh, #16 Tyler Boyd is @ Washington, Will Fuller is versus NE, Diontae Johnson has been on a tear that should continue against Jacksonville.  Moose has #10 Lamar Jackson who has disappointed this season.  It’s hard to replicate the ridiculous success of last season, but something doesn’t seem right.  He’ll look to get back right against Tennessee.  #1 Rb Alvin Kamara (who Brad passed on) versus Atlanta.  #26 Chase Edmonds versus Seattle on TNF.  #21 Julio Jones versus New Orleans, #11 Chase Claypool versus Jacksonville, #6 Rb Ronald Jones against a tough Rams team.  Last time Rams traveled across the country they got destroyed by Miami.  Moose also has #1 Kicker Jason Sanders.  Moose is favored, but anything can happen here.  Should be a good one.

Division 2

Kenny (7-3) vs. Brad (6-4)

D2 Crown on the line in this one.  Kenny with a win could lock it up.  Brad is getting to full strength and is looking to make a late season run into the playoffs.  K-Dub gets Justin Herbert at home against the New York Jets.  Mahomes dropped 41.6 against them a few weeks ago and this looks like a smash spot for the talented rookie Herbert.  He also features #2 Fantasy Rb Dalvin Cook against the Dallas Cowboys.  Dallas was getting destroyed on the ground, but with Sean Lee coming back and some reinforcements on the defensive line they have been shutting down teams the past two weeks.  Allowing 94 rushing yards to the Eagles and 30 rushing yards to the Steelers Running backs.  I’m sure Dalvin will be fine.  #9 Rb Todd Gurley gets the Saints #1 ranked run defense, #2 DK Metcalf gets Patrick Peterson match #2 on TNF, #4 Tyreek Hill faces the LV Raiders who he scored 16.8 fantasy points against in Week 5.  Kenny will be without #3 Wide Receiver Stefon Diggs.  Yes that is correct, Kenny has 2 Top 10 Running backs and 3 Top 4 Wide Receivers.  Brad’s strength comes from #3 Qb Patrick Mahomes who gets a rematch against the Raiders.  He scored 32.7 fantasy points against them in their first meeting. Brad also has #3 Derrick Henry who has gotten at least 18 touches in every game this season.  He has a tough matchup against Baltimore, but he did alright against them in the playoffs last year.  Rushing 30 times for 195 yards.  Brad also has #18 Rb Kenyan Drake and #29 Wr Christian Kirk on TNF against the Seahawks.  #7 WR Terry McLaurin has been very consistent despite mediocre Qb play and has a good matchup against Cincy this week.  Brad’s main differentiator is #1 Tight End Travis Kelce.  Kelce would be Rb#4 if he were listed as a Rb.  He has scored 54.3 more than the next closest tight end.  Make no mistake, Brad has 6 wins because of Travis Kelce.  Will it be 7?

JD (4-6) vs. Joe (3-7)

Moving on from people who can win the division to people who are scraping and clawing to try and make the 6th playoff spot.  JD enters this pivotal matchup and will lose #2 Qb Josh Allen to his bye week this week.  #7 Aaron Jones has a tough matchup against Indy, #13 Antonio Gibson has a favorable matchup versus Cincinnati.   #32 DJ Chark gets Pittsburgh, #12 Robby Anderson gets Detroit, and #48 Marquise Brown gets Tennessee.  Joe has Big Ben who asked Mike Tomlin if he could skip practice all week after skipping practice last week and having his best outing of the season.  Big Ben and Joe, match made in heaven.  He should torch the Jags.  #12 CEH faces Vegas who held him to 9.5 points last time, his second lowest output of the season.  #17 Johnathan Taylor still has lot to prove after getting left in the dust for Hines last week.  He gets Green Bay’s run funnel defense.  #8 Calvin Ridley faces New Orleans, #13 Mike Evans gets Jalen Ramsey this week, and #24 JuJu is the 3rd best wide receiver on the team, but poses a favorable matchup.  Steelers D/ST can eat against Jake Luton.  Didn’t know whether to make a Futon joke or a nut on joke.  Hurts that his name is pronounced Lut-on instead of fu-ton.  So I guess the Steelers will nut on Futon?  Maybe it’s not there.  I’m open to suggestions.   Do a kicker bowl you cowards!

Division 3

Scotty (3-7) vs. Mike (6-4)

D3 is wide open, unless Mike slams the door shut here.  Scotty was my highest draft grade, he got the kiss of death.  Injuries have ravaged his team.  He has Carson Wentz against Cleveland (who has had crazy weather the past two home games), #11 James Conner who has had two sad weeks in a row with less than 6 points.  Some bright spots for Scotty has Chris Godwin who torched the Rams last year to the tune of 14 target, 12 receptions 172 yards and 2 touchdowns (memorably on my bench because I thought he was hurt).  #6 Tyler Lockett faces the Seahawks, the same Seahawks he destroyed a few weeks ago with 20 targets, 15 receptions, 200 yards and 3 touchdowns (50.5 fantasy points).  He also has #27 Cooper Kupp and #3 TJ Hockensen @ Carolina.  Mike who probably felt confident before reading this has #1 Fantasy Qb Kyler Murray who also went off a few weeks ago for 40.1 fantasy points including 360 yards passing, 3 touchdowns and rushing lines of 14-67-1.  Murray is the #1 Rb on the Cardinals.  No CMC, No David Johnson, but Mike has both of their backups in #15 Mike Davis versus Detroit’s 32nd ranked OPRK and Duke Johnson gets New England.  #25 AJ Brown has a rough matchup against Baltimore and #23 Justin Jefferson has a great looking matchup against Dallas.  Despite the discrepancy in record, this will be a battle.

Chase (4-6) vs. Tommy (5-5)

Neither team is out of the playoff hunt, nor out of contention for the division crown.  That could be a different story after this week.  Chase has #4 Qb Russell Wilson in a tasty shootout against Arizona slated for TNF.  Miles Sanders is back and gets Cleveland.  #1 Davante Adams has had a brilliant season so far.  He has a tough matchup against Indy, but he is matchup-proof.  Michael Thomas has a favorable matchup against Atlanta.  Will Jameis come in and lead the Saints to the promise land?  Can he at least get Michael Thomas going?  Tommy just went HAM last week.  This week Tom Brady gets Aaron Donald and the RAMS defense.  Tom Brady has stated he goes to bed at 8:30pm with his early to bed, early to rise mindset.  This kickoff will be 8:15pm Eastern time for Monday Night Football.  Rams will beat up sleepy Brady.  8. Kareem Hunt gets Philly, #14 D/Andre Swift gets Carolina’s 29th OPRK in a smash spot.  Adam Thielen should keep up his solid season against Dallas, and Tommy should get Zeke and Golladay back for reinforcements.  Chase won the first matchup 141.7 to 104.1.  Tommy has been gaining strength.  Does Chase climb even with Tommy at 5-6?  Or will Tommy drop Chase down to 4-7 and potentially out of the playoffs?

BBY 2020: Week 3 Recap & Week 4 Preview

Week 3 Recap:

Katon (2-1) 124.9 vs. Trey (2-1) 91.7

T- Money goes down!  Katon forces a three-way tie for first place in Division 1.  Katon was led by Nick Chubb’s 26.5 point outing and finished strong on Sunday Night Football with 24.4 from Aaron Rodgers who carved up our beloved Saints.  Trey’s Cam Newton watched Rex Burkhead steal all the Touchdowns and disappointed with 11.1 fantasy points.  Nobody scored higher than Cam except for James Robinson’s 27.9.  6 total players in single digits.

Moose (0-3) 114.2 vs. Jen (2-1) 127.7

Moose got a monster 43.2 from Alvin Kamara on Sunday Night Football, setting him up for a Monday Night Football showdown where he needed 27.6+ points from Lamar Jackson to win.  He disappointed and looked shook against KC, only getting 14.1.  Jen had a pretty solid outing from most of her players and even correctly started Joe Burrow over Deshaun Watson.  Darrell Henderson looks like the real deal for the Rams, getting 21.5 points for Jen.  DeAndre Hopkins put up a solid 21.7 as well.  Moose is one loss away from starting out the season with as many losses as he has titles.

Brad (2-1) 142.8 vs. Joe (1-2) 118.4

Brad got much needed reinforcements from Derrick Henry who had his best game of the season with 29 points on a 2 touchdown day.  He also called his shot on Michael Gallup, who scored 25.8.  He went into Monday Night Football down 16.4, but he had Mahomes, Kelce, Butker against Joe’s Clyde Edwards-Helaire.  Mahomes carved up Baltimore making them look like the Jets to the tune of 43 points and a Brad victory.  Joe had solid production with 8/9 starters getting 9 or more points, but none of them cracked the 20 point mark, while Brad had 3 players over 25.

Kenny (3-0) 122.8 vs. JD (0-3) 95.6

3-0!  Kenny has taken his Mamba mentality and has been balling like the late Kobe Bryant.  He exits the divisional games undefeated and #1 in the division and the league.  JD made a Qb change, dropping Daniel Jones for Gardner Minshew, who wind up playing poorly against the Dolphins defense.  Jd’s best player was surprisingly Allen Lazard who got 26.4.  Kenny got 27.9 from Dalvin Cook (haha Brad sucks), 20 from DK Metcalf, 16 from NE D/ST, and 18.7 from Tyreek Hill on MNF.  Kenny did lose Dallas Geodert to a broken ankle, but he has Tyler Higbee in the wings ready to jump in for next week.

Chase (1-2) 110.5 vs. Scotty (2-1) 171.6

Chase with a noble effort, breaking 100 points with starters that include Leonard Fournette, Myles Gaskin, Laviska Shenault Jr, and Tre’Quan Smith.  On my draft grades I said the only Qb in the league that can throw 60 touchdowns was Patrick Mahomes.  After 3 weeks Russell Wilson has thrown 14, on pace for 75 touchdowns.  He got 39.8 this week, or 36% of Chase’s total point output.  Scotty absolutely exploded this week.  Good grief.  One of the Top 10 highest performances ever with 5 players scoring 24.2 or more.  His peripherals combined for 15.1.

Mike (2-1) 106.7 vs. Tommy (1-2) 107.5

Mike loses his first game of the season to Tommy.  Tommy stuck with the aging corpse of Tom Brady at Qb who scored 23.8 versus the practice squad of the Broncos after the starters have suffered devastating injuries so far this season.  He finally benched washed Rob Gronkowski and started washed Jimmy Graham who rose from the dead for 21 fantasy points on two lucky scores after the Bears made a Qb change.  He dropped Gostkowski and picked up a new kicker, so naturally Gostkowski got 25 points on the waiver wire and the Vegas kicker got 7.  Mike tried out his new $63 dollar Mike Davis and a solid 19.1 from him.  He had 5 starters get single digits and wind up getting edged out by Tommy on some end of the game Zeke catches.  Mike had Colts D/ST on his bench get 27 and Justin Jefferson on his bench get 32.  Not sure why he would choose Buc D/ST @ Denver against an elite talent at Qb in Jeff Driskel when he could have started the Colts D/ST at home against the abysmal NY Jets who are going to fire Adam Gase on Thursday night after they lose to the Broncos next week.  Difference between 3-0 and 2-1.

Week 4 Preview

Mike (2-1) vs. Brad (2-1)

Since I left off on Mike, figured I’d start there this week.  Super Bowl I rematch features two 2-1 teams trying to keep their winning record.  On paper Mike appears to have the better matchup and everyone is waiting to see if there will be any changes of the Titans-Pittsburgh game which could impact Brad’s first round pick Derrick Henry.  Mike will have Kyler Murray scorching the Carolina Panthers this Sunday, David Johnson facing a Minnesota defense that gave up two goal line scores to Derrick Henry last week, Mike Davis in the Arizona game, TY Hilton vs. Chicago, Corey Davis vs. Pit (Maybe), JJ @ Houston.  Brad has scored back to back weeks over 140 points and looks to keep the hot streak alive.  Unfortunately for him his KC stack faces the brilliant mind of Bill Belichick.  Derrick Henry has a rough matchup against Pittsburgh if he plays at all, Terry McLaurin will face an angry and motivated Baltimore defense, and Brad still cannot choose the correct Rb2 to save his life.  (0-3 on picking the right one so far this season).  Should be a great game, like Brad’s team better, but Mike may have the matchups this week.

Kenny (3-0) vs. Scotty (2-1)

These two teams are hot-hot-hot!  Kenny has #8 Matt Ryan @ GB on MNF vs. Scotty’s #3 Dak Prescott against Cleveland.  Kenny has #3 Dalvin Cook vs. Houston and #21 Melvin Gordon against the crappy Jets in one of the worst games of the year on Thursday Night Football.  Can’t wait to watch underprepared Sam Darnold vs. a Qb named Rypien!  (Pukes).  Scotty features #9 Austin Ekeler @ TB who is playing much better with Justin Herbert under center and #28 Miles Sanders on a beat up Eagles team facing a beat up 49ers team.  Kenny has #6 Tyreek Hill vs. New England and #4 DK Metcalf vs. Miami.  Scotty has the other Seattle wideout #2 Tyler Lockett and #20 Cooper Kupp vs. the NYG.  Will have to monitor if Scotty will have James Conner @ Tennessee due to the Covid stuff and whether his kicker will be able to play through injury this week.  Great game right here with potential playoff implications.

Moose (0-3) vs. Joe (1-2)

Moose’s #1 Fantasy Rb (that Brad passed on) Alvin Kamara has averaged 32.8 per game to start the year.  And somehow the fates have landed Moose a huge 0-3 hole to start the year.  His team looks solid on paper, with Lamar Jackson, Kamara, Allen Robinson, Darren Waller.  But in Week 2 when Waller went off, A-Rob only got 4.8.  In Week 3 when A-Rob went off with 26.3, Waller only got 1.9.  His team hasn’t been able to put it all together, coupled with 3rd highest Points Against and he exits the divisional games winless.  He’s hoping to come out swinging this week against Joe who has lost 2 in a row after an opening game win against JD.  Moose has Angry Lamar @ Washington, Alvin Kamra @ Detroit, Joshua Kelley and Ronald Jones against one another, Allen Robinson with Nick Foles at the helm now against Indy.  Waller faces Buffalo.  Joe has Big Ben/JuJu/Steelers D/ST who need to monitor the Tennessee Covid cases to see if the game gets changed or moved.  He has CEH vs. New England, Jonathan Taylor @ Chicago, Mike Evans vs. Chris Harris-less LA Chargers, and Calvin Ridley on Monday Night Football.  Surely Moose wouldn’t lose another one on Monday Night Football, right?

Jen (2-1) vs. Chase (1-2)

(Redacted) squaring off against (redacted) in a battle of the (redacted).  Hopefully this one ends in a (redacted) to spare the league from (redacted).  Jen features Joe “Big Dick” Burrow against the Jaguars who made Ryan Fitzpatrick look like Ryan Fitzmagic.  #31 Devin Singletary faces Las Vegas, #18 Darrell Henderson faces the Giants, DeAndre Hopkins is at Carolina, DJ Moore in the same game against Arizona, Zach Ertz faces an injured San Fran team with all other Eagles pass catchers banged up.  CeeDee Lamb faces Cleveland who have injuries to their secondary.  And it certainly appears to be continuing to rain shit on Chase’s 2020 season.  Chase has Russel “MVP” Wilson @ Miami, Leonard Fournette vs. LAC, Myles Gaskin vs. Seattle, hoping for Mike Thomas @ Detroit and Davante Adams vs. Atlanta.  Those would be two huge additions to this lineup if they are healthy enough to go.  Chase is also hoping Raheem Mostert returns from a sprained MCL, but we’ll have to see how that progresses throughout the week.  If Chase’s star players can’t go again this week, Jen has the matchups to drop Chase to 3 straight losses.

Tommy (1-2) vs. Trey (2-1)

#17 Tom Brady (who was drafted ahead of #2 Qb Josh Allen) faces a reeling LAC defense riddled with injuries.  #5 Zeke and #14 Kareem Hunt face each other, #10 Adam Thielen faces a beatable Houston defense, Kenny Golladay returns in times to crush the hapless Saints.  ☹.  Trey has Cam Newton @ KC.  KC shut down Lamar, can they shut down Cam too?  #8 Josh Jacobs gets a tough draw against Buffalo, #6 James Robinson is @ Cincy.  #16 Tyler Boyd is against Jax.  Will Fuller vs. Minnesota, Mike Gesiki in shootuout potential with Seattle, and Odell Beckham Jr. is @ familiar foe Dallas.  On paper I like Trey’s chances in this one, but should be interesting matchup.

Katon (2-1) vs JD (0-3)

Katon who hasn’t paid his dues, but team name is “Just here to Pay dues” is now 2-1.  Aaron Rodgers has a butter matchup against Atlanta on Monday Night Football.  #4 Nick Chubb faces Dallas, #38 Joe Mixon faces Jax.  Amari Cooper will face Cleveland and their beat up secondary, Robert Woods faces the NYG in a juicy matchup, Noah Fant will have Rypien throwing him the ball, but plays the Jets, so that entire statement is disgusting.  David Montgomery gets a boost with Tarik Cohen heading to IR and Nick Foles taking over as Chicago’s Qb.  JD is hoping to get his first victory of the year, but it’s a tough road ahead.  Gardner Minshew faces Burrow in a low key shootout spot.  #25 Kenyan Drake hopes to get going @ Carolina, #2 Aaron Jones is in that MNF match against Atlanta.  JD’s wideouts are #50 Marquise Brown, #7 Robby Anderson, and #8 Allen Lazard.  Had you told me JD would have two top 10 wideouts after three weeks and they were Robby and the Lazard King I would have thought you were crazy.  But fantasy football provides us with lots of fantasy scenarios.

As always, best of luck this week everybody!
