New Member Wesley Makes Head Scratching Trade, Makes Brad Rethink His Life

Wesley, Who Art Thou?

Last week a blockbuster trade occurred in our Dynamo Dynasty League.  Yet in the group chat.  Silence?  Why?  I care to take a wager as to why.

Mike B trades Wesley 2026 1st, 2026 3rd.

Wesley trades Mike B Kenneth Walker III, 2026 2nd.

Seems simple enough.  Mike has been vying to get a stud RB to match his hellacious WR trio of Chase, Nico, and Puka.  He already has a Top 3 Fantasy QB in Lamar Jackson.  A Top 3 TE in Trey McBride.  His lone weakness has been RB1.  In comes a new member to the league and he trades Mike B an RB1.  But was it worth it?  Let’s dive in.

Mike B has been a contender in both Year 1 and Year 2.  Last season he won Points Leader.  His average draft position in rookie drafts is 1.09 (1.08+1.10/2).

Wesley took over for Ian.  The franchise hasn’t made the playoffs in either season.  Their average draft position in rookie drafts is 1.025 (1.03+1.02/2).  Kenneth Walker III was a prized possession for Ian.  Last year Ian was offered 2025 1st, 2026 1st and a young WR for Kenneth Walker and he DECLINED.  What did Ian see that Wesley did not?

Kenneth Walker III averaged 16.47 ppr points per game last season.  If he had played all season that would have been RB12 or an RB1 finish.  So RB1 in Points Per Game.  Now he did this behind one of the worst offensive lines in football.  Their starting center RETIRED midseason!  This offseason the Seahawks have been reimagining their identity.  They traded away DK Metcalf and Geno Smith.  They brought in Klint Kubiak as OC.  They signed Sam Darnold and drafted Jalen Milroe.  They acquired Cooper Kupp.  They also drafted Grey Zabel with the 18th overall pick.  They’ve also brought in Tight Ends, Fullbacks and a Tight End that is converting to Fullback.  They are sending a message by their actions that they are going to RUN THE ROCK.  Kubiak’s zone running scheme saw Alvin Kamara average 18.95 ppr points per game last season.

Now let’s dig deeper into the trade.  With Mike B’s average draft position being 1.09 and he just got better at RB1 and has Pick 1.06 still due to the Adam trade earlier this offseason.  There is no reason to think Mike will regress other than horrific luck/injuries.  For Wesley he has the average draft position of 1.02/1.03.  He just lost his RB1.  Montgomery is a solid RB2.  Javonte might win the Dallas RB job.  With 1.02 he could draft Omarion Hampton who looks to be a stud in the NFL.  But with Najee Harris there, uncertainty in Dallas, and Gibbs ascendence, KWIII was still Wesley’s RB1 heading into 2025.  Now in return for his RB1 he got back a 2026 1st from Mike B’s average draft position of 1.09.  And a 2026 3rd from Mike B’s average draft position of 3.09.  He also gave up his own average draft position 2.02/2.03 to Mike B.  Written another way the trade looks like this:

Wesley receives 2026 1.09, 2026 3.09

Mike B receives 2026 2.02 or 2.03, RB1 FPPG Kenneth Walker III

Now maybe I’m biased in my Kenneth Walker III assessment.  We are biased creatures after all.  So let’s take a look at some Dynasty Trade Calculators to see if my analysis of the trade is off.

Keep/Trade/Cut:

Kenneth Walker- 5705

2026 Mid 2nd– 3879

Value Adjustment- 1251

Total = 10,835

VS.

2026 Late 1st– 5257

2026 Late 3rd– 2316

Total= 7,573

KeepTradeCut says Mike B received 30% MORE VALUE than Wesley in this trade.  Keep in mind this is with Kenneth Walker’s value being down 1100 points due to his recent injury/recency bias.  Which means this could be even MORE lopsided of a trade if KWIII regains that value.

But yeah.  KTC is open to anyone.  What about some other trade calculators?

I subscribe to Establish the Run.  I’ve purchased and used their Pro Draft Kit since their company’s founding.  One of the tools they provide as part of the kit is a Dynasty Trade Calculator.

Kenneth Walker- 306

2026 2nd Round Pick- 87

Total= 393

VS.

2026 1st Round Pick- 252

2026 3rd Round Pick- 55

Total= 307

ETR says Mike B received 21.91% MORE VALUE than Wesley in this trade.

I then looked up FantasyPros and took a gander at their Trade Value Chart in Dynasty.

They rated a 2026 1st anywhere from 48-34 points.  A 2026 2nd anywhere from 17-24 points.  And a 2026 3rd anywhere from 5-9 points.  Where did they value Kenneth Walker III?  51 Points.

So…

Kenneth Walker- 51

2026 2nd 17-24

Total= 68-75

VS.

2026 1st– 34-48 Points

2026 3rd– 5-9 Points

Total= 39-57

A difference of 42.6% on the high end or a difference between 24% on the low end.  That says Mike B received 24-42.6% MORE VALUE than Wesley in the trade.

So what’s the big deal?  Why write this?  Why the silence in the group chat?

The silence was either due to 2 things:

1. People didn’t see the trade.  It’s the offseason, things are slow.  We have league members on honey moons, preparing for babies, or grinding at work.  But its SLOW.  They are trying to hype every rookie catch, every running back drill, and they are trying to make the schedule release sound like the offseason Super Bowl.

OR.

2.  We don’t know Wesley.  We don’t know what he’s like in real life.  How long he’s been playing fantasy football.  We don’t want to offend him and call him retarded or stupid for making this trade.  We aren’t close to him.  He’s a new member.  We are a welcoming league.  We welcome people with open arms.  We don’t want to call them out.  But this move is a head scratcher.  Mike B holds pick 1.06.  He just locked down a RB1.  He doesn’t need to use 1.06 on a RB now.  Tet McMillian or Travis Hunter could fall to him.  Because of this trade he can pull the trigger.  It simply makes a great team, better.

But hey.  Maybe I’m wrong.  Maybe KWIII has lower body issues that are going to keep recurring.  Maybe Zach Charbonnet or 7th round rookie Damien Martinez starts to steal more snaps.  There are a lot of unknowns in fantasy football.  This could be a great trade for Wesley.  But on the surface it looks really bad to this Fantasy Football player of 25 years.  It looks like he traded his RB1 to move up a few picks (2.02 or 2.03 to 1.09) in a bad draft class (I believe Arch Manning will be a 2027 rookie not a 2026 rookie).

Thank you for letting me get this off of my chest.  As far as Draft Grades go, I give Mike an A+++ for trades and an F for Morals.  For Wesley I give him a V.  Because this shit probably should have been vetoed due to the head scratching inequity.  But we only veto in cases of obvious collusion.  And this is not obvious collusion, so my joke is just that.  A joke.  We’ll see what happens.

With this trade it did make me realize that I spend too much time worrying about fantasy football.  It’s a fun hobby, but it reminded me that on the course of life worrying about players that will never know our names playing a game we have little control over seems silly.  It’s supposed to be a fun hobby.  But sometimes our competitive nature takes over and we build up cortisol for no reason.  I want everyone in this league to succeed.  I’m genuinely happy for Cuz and Oscar for winning their titles.  But this trade made me realize I need to take a step back from this hobby.  I’ll continue to participate but perhaps not in the manner in which I have before.  This is a Bradley decision.  I’m sure it’ll look like we added a new member (that I don’t know) to the league who immediately made a terrible trade that made the league worst.  But that’s just my internalization of it.  That’s my cross to bear.  I hope we have a great 2025 season and I hope the Dynamo league continues to be a great league for many seasons to come.
